A Dutch contingent led by Major Clemens Buter of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps is presently in Dominica assisting in recovery efforts following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika.
Major Buter is based in Curacao and he is commandeering the Dutch navy ship, the ‘Pelican’ which arrived in Dominica on Sunday, September 6.
He met with Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, on Monday morning.
The contingent, which consists of 45 marines and Aruban militia police, is presently working mostly in Bagatelle and Pichelin.
Engineers of the Netherlands Army are assessing roads and the Geneva Bridge, cleaning school in Pichelin and a chaplain is providing support to Dominicans.
A helicopter has been assisting with evacuations and will assist in relocating 24 students from Delices.
“So I think the assistance of the helicopter is crucial…” Buter said.
A unit is present at the Douglas-Charles Airport to assist with cleaning the runway so that the facility can be operational as soon as possible.
Two boats are also assisting the Dutch in moving water supplies, evacuations and coastal patrolling while large trucks are being used to assist the Red Cross in moving the water to all affected areas.
God is Great. Thanks to everyone who is giving a helping hand,
Dominica will rise again evev stronger than before with the grace of God. At this point and time we should stop bringing people down and concentrate only on the situation here and now.We never learn do we. Please people let’s stop using the situstion in D/ca to try and play politics. We should unite together and see what we can do best to help our country.
We are extremely grateful to you for the visit, help and donation you gave us thankyou.
Just want to thank all who are involved in the effort of helping in Dominica. Wish I could be there to do the same, i will do my best to help from my end. Be strong my fellow Dominicans. Blessings to you all.
That is great, but were are the Americans?
Why whats wrong with who’s helping at the momen
People be more positive give our country time to recover .
This makes me happy to know that D/ca is also receiving physical help from many countries which it is in dire need of. This is great! God is so good!
In recent years Dominica has received much publicity. The PM has also done some traveling to request aid for Dominica. Since this tropical storm, D/ca has also been in the limelight with TV, Radio and Newspapers broadcasting and posting.
Thank you Dutch contingent! God is looking on and observing your generosity along with all others who came to the aid of D/ca. One day He will repay you for this compassion work which you are asking nothing for in return. This is real help!
May your stay be as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
God bless you and keep you safe.
A few prayers from the Divine Praises:
Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ True God and True Man. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, The Paraclete. . . .
Thanks a lot for all the help from countries around the world. May God bless you all. But please, please, please, don’t give our “government money/CA$H.” Fix our roads and bridges and infrastructures; just don’t give the government a black cent; because the poor people who are in desperate need will not benefit from monies given to that government.
I’m sure that these countries who are helping us, Dominicans, are very much aware of the type of dictatorship that is ruling this tiny island. So, once again, thank you all for helping – just don’t give the Labor party a black cent. And I approve this message. 4-cars.
