Eleven Fire and Ambulance Officers who have demonstrated excellence in the line of duty over the past year, have been recognized and urged to continue working hard.
Courtney Challenger, Wayne Letang, Alvin Jarvis, Ethson Alexander, Chris Cadette, Dwayne Winston, Andrew Francis, Barry Darroux, Davin Paul, Michael Warrington and Donaldson Frederick were given special awards at the fire department headquarters on Bath Road on Wednesday.
“Officers of the Fire and Ambulance Services Division, this is about us the division, this is for recognition among you who have done exceptionally well,” the Deputy Fire Officer said at the award ceremony. “I wish to congratulate every one of you all, I know that every one of you deserve an award but however it is unfortunate that we can’t give everyone this award. Those of you who are going to be awarded, I encourage you to continue, and those of you who have not been awarded, strive to get awarded next time.”
Donaldson Frederick, 28, of Sineku, copped the Fire Officer of the Year award.
He has been a Fire Officer for the past nine years.
“I feel elated about the award. I feel that it serves as a form of motivation for me and I want to encourage my other coworkers to continue to work hard and they will also succeed and achieve great things,” Frederick told reporters shortly after the ceremony.
He said receiving the award was by no means a “one man show.”
“It doesn’t take only me to achieve or to be successful as the Fire Officer of the Year,” he said. “It takes a team and I want to commend all those officers who work with me and encouraged me. I want to continue to work hard to succeed in many other things in the near future.”
Leading Fireman and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Fire and Ambulance Department, Wayne Letang, said his award came as a result of hard work.
“This year, the Fire department is recognizing me again for an outstanding job,” he said. “I am very much excited and I would say that this has come as a matter of personal development.”
Less than a week ago, Letang copped the Public Service Award during the observance of Public Service Day.
In the past he has received the Best Recruit Award and Chief Officer Award from the fire department.
Congratsedal Donaldson, I know you work hard, I see you!
Warrington you a such a wonderful person, congrats!
Congratulation to Mr. Wayne Letang may God continues to bless and guide you.
Stupes.. All the firemen should be recognized, is not no one man show, is not one set that does stay up all after 5 answering to fire and ambulance calls…
Congrats guys!!
Fire Officer, Renneth Stevens: you have not been recognized with an award, but it is known that you are an extremely hard working Fire Officer, who has performed his duties outstandingly for over two decades! Just remember, God is ALWAYS in control!!
May God continue to bless and protect you and ALL the Fire Officers of our land!
Congrats to all the fire fighters
Guess Anthony Williams didn’t work hard enough. What a thing? O mayb he wasn’t qualify to participate. Woosh public section on fire.
In the public service these days the officers who are really dedicated the majority of them are not recognized.
They continue to perform because of their dedicated services. So Officers like Anthony Williams would be overlooked. However, I do not think he was eligible to be selected in this case.
