Firefighters flee Marigot fire station

Firefighters at the temporary fire station in Marigot fled the building this morning after water caused electrical problems in a main switch.

The temporary fire station is being used while a new one is being constructed at the Melville Hall Airport but it has been reportedly leaking badly due to heavy rains. This was the case this morning when the switch started sparking heavily.

This could potentially cause a disturbance in air traffic because the temporary fire station services the airport and must be manned and ready to respond for landings and takeoffs at all times.

You People are so empty headed and clu less. And worse yet you guys don’t read and understand what you read. The news item says that because of a leak, the main switch SPARKED HEAVILY. Not Started burning. When we read, we have to understand first, before we can run our mouth.

we all don’t have the same talent to read and understand what we read, therefore be humble in your talking while explaining. This is an open discussion which is very good for the people whether we are “empty headed” or not, this debates forces us to read and observe what is happening in and around us including the world. You can read and understand what you read, therefore be the voice for those who can’t.Be more humble, although you are correct in explaining the story.

maybe the reporter should have used the term (relocate in the place of “FLEE) reason, what first comes the readers minds, they ran away because they are cowards and doesn’t know how to deal with sparking switch:-D

the comments are made to be “Liked or Disliked”.! yes i’m answering to every comment made because we all don’t think the same way.The firefighters could not have lost their lives by a sparking switch since they are trained to fight Fire!. We are on an open discussion and here is how inssultive you can be. Why are you hating me for my freedom of thinking? Read over your last comment and ask yourself the simple question, Do i deserve to be on this forum with so much insults and hatred? You pretend to be “Anonymous” but you know yourself better than i do so… start working on yourself. I assume to be Christiana and don’t hide behind my PC to insult others who don’t share my point of view. Dominican i am, and free to “run my mouth”! God gave that right to me. All in respecting you and others facing me . God Bless Dominica.

la pa té ni difé man! there was no fire in the station. there was electrical problem in “a” main switch due to heavy rain when it sparked heavily. To avoid disturbance in the air traffic they “FLED”! but not because it was a fire. I think, that the reporter is the “donkey” & tébé. The officers are trained fire brigades why would they run away from a sparking switch  if they run away then who put it out then?

The construction of a Fire House in Melville Hall should be for the airport use only – a new Fire Station needs to be built for the Marigot village and its surroundings.

u all just talk,if there is an electrical fire the first thing is that the power must be out off by domlec. wetting would just make it worst(they could be electrocuted) so the best thing was to move out of the builing.

    • Christiana
      November 10, 2011

in other words they “moved out of the building” or FLED” :-D

being a “Dominican has nothing to do with the story and debate, whatever country you live in people have to express themselves and we all are different, What about “equality”. Your “Frustration” is coming from some other source, do some soul searching before you blame it on “being a Dominican!.

Marigot has an airport, a firestation, a hospital, a treasury, a credit union,; but wait a minute, Marigot can be its own town, if that’s what you call isolated.
