Fond Cole residents cry foul on halted project

This is what residents have to deal with daily

Residents of the upper corner section of Fond Cole are up in arms about the non-completion of a project that they claim is causing serious discomfort.

The project which is being funded by the government of Dominica through the parliamentary representative Julius Timothy started several weeks ago.

Apparently whenever it rains, mudslides and overflowing ravines would affect residents there and money was allocated to build protecting walls and concrete gutters.

But for reasons not stated, the project has stopped and building materials (sand and stones) were placed alongside the narrow pathway.

“I can hardly pass for me to go to work and as a matter of fact, whenever it rains, I cannot send my children to school,” one village stated, claiming that the “whole thing is just an inconvenience”.

That villager said at nights the matter becomes even more or a problem.

“If you don’t know the area at nights you can lose your life. You can stumble upon all the gravels that are there and fall over into a neighbor’s yard.  Something needs to be done. The parl rep needs to do something. We cannot live like this. It’s unfair,” the villager continued.

All attempts to contact MP for the area Julius Timothy proved futile but DNO will continue to seek clarification from him in that regard.

Is not earthquake or landslide that will cause that place to surf. The sewage alone will provide enough lubricant to take care of that.

Anyways alot of my people are just too damn political. Why everything always have to do with politics?? For the love of God, ease up a bit man. It’s really sickening that anything which happens anywhere boils down to politics. Elections is held every 4 to 5 years, can’t we get off the ignorance and see things for what they really are. If the damn MP don’t want to take responsibility are you all just gonna continue risking your lives? There’s a saying i believe in: if you want something done, do it on your own!! Just make the necessary inquiries and get the thing done; then you all have something to hold against the ones responsible for it.

the person to build the drain has gotten the money without work being done and those who work and finish can’t get pay from since September. Why he is the big boy riding with the MP ,so no one can’t touch him .That is just to show you which ones that eating NOT all . Boy-cut others and given the job knowing he has many more and now look what happen .How many mouths and work can’t start but you get pay .LIFE SWEET IS’T IT.

this year is not election year so the residence should not expect a speedy resolution to this matter. For very long the people from this community are treated as second class citizens but the Government needs to treat the residence with some respect.
1.The fondcole foot ball field was taken away from them by Domlec then the guys sort comfort in seeking alternative plce next to carlton phillip. This was taken away from them too. The we see Domlec use the entrace to this community as a dump.Instead of some welcoming office building DOmlec saw it fit to dump there power poles ther. Fond Cole people know how to stand up. They did in the 70’s and very soon we shall see…….
