High school students attack police officer in Roseau

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon

A group of high school students from a popular school attacked a policewoman in Roseau on Wednesday afternoon during an argument between two groups.

The incident took place on Independence Street, eyewitnesses told Dominica News Online.

According to the eyewitnesses, two groups of boys from the same school were at the location arguing.

A policewoman, who was in uniform, appeared on the scene and a student from one group told her that one of the students from the other group had a weapon.

She approached the student and told him she wanted to see what was in his bag.

Without warning, the student and other members of his group, five in all, attacked the police officer.

The melee attracted a huge crowd and many people rushed to defend the officer, while others tried to contact the school’s principal.

Other police officers soon arrived on the scene and the fight was broken up.

The eyewitnesses said at least two students, from the attacking group, were arrested. One started crying after he was detained. The other three fled the scene.

It is unknown whether the police officer was injured in the incident.

Many on the scene condemned the actions of the students.

    I am horrified.

    This is not the U.S.A.

Decades ago the U.S.A. officially put God out of their schools. No more reading the Bible or saying ”the Lord’s Prayer” in class. Amoral sex education was introduced. Occult courses have taken the place of religious education in some schools. On school property were prayer meetings once took place we hear of seances being conducted.

Since then American schools have been in decline. Did you know there are schools now in the U.S.A. that have security guards at the front doors doing what is called in security ”controlled entry” :?: I have been told In some schools armed guards patrol the hall ways. Teachers will not cross a hall or go to a washroom without a security escort. We are hearing of male teachers dating underage female students. Female teachers have become pregnant by male students. Again and again we are hearing of shootings in
    the schools, sometimes mass shootings.

KEEP GOD IN YOUR SCHOOLS :!:…

Two very bad things happened here.

    (1) A POLICE OFFICER was assaulted while doing her job.

The officer represents the Commonwealth of Dominica, its Government, and its Flag. Think of it :!: Her job is to protect members of the public. In this confrontation she could have been injured or even killed. If she is not safe there is no protection for the people.

    (2) These STUDENTS committed an ugly act. They were being disorderly. This warranted police intervention. They refused to heed an officer of the law. This showed a disregard for the law. Even to assault another person is a crime but they assaulted a police officer. Added to this is the fact that the officer was a lady. What decent young man would attack a woman on the street? And these were students? They were cowards. See them run when male officers showed up :!:

Bleeding hearts will say they are so young, they are children, so go easy on them. NO :!: They committed an adult size crime. Deal with it accordingly.

Can not help but wonder if Roosevelt Skerrit would subject his own children to the education system he has bestowed upon us. Somehow I doubt it, but let’s wait and see.
That reminds me, where is his first born son Malik? Is he a student at his father’s conception the DSC? Haven’t seen him around for a while.

      Good grief!

Do you have to bring the P.M. into this? And you even find it necessary to drag his son into it? Why can you not just let news be news :?:

Are you afraid the readers might think you are not a Dominican if you didn’t blame the P.M., and give it a political twist? You people have no idea what you are doing to your country.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

Good reporting. It ironic when I was in High school a classmate that was always looking for trouble went on a field trip to the Library then past Fort Young Hotel, that classmate picked a fight with the officer standing at the entrance to the hotel. the officer put him in his place and the rest of us let him know he was wrong for doing that. The Irony is that he became a police officer then today he works for the United Nations providing security in NYC.

Children are stupid because their minds are still developing, they tend to make decisions emotionally.
Its important to punish them for their wrong doing but not condemn them for life, becasue you envery know what potential the person has or what is driving their behaviour, we are all people… is my point

U SERIOUS!!!!! Wow, then again I must say that is goes all the way back to parents failure to discipline their children, the education act on corporal punishment and the failure of society on a whole in how we raise our children. I tell you, it has already began and before we know it our children will be behaving and doing like those we see on TV.
We take everything for granted here and until it becomes uncontrollable or a major problem, then we will want to take steps to solve it. BUT TOO LATE.

Totally disrespectful and unacceptable behavior by these young men. While we can’t take this one incident and chastise the majority of students who still take pride in wearing their school uniforms, we tend to see a lot more disrespect for the elders in our society today. These kids have committed a serious offense, (an attack on a police officer in uniform) and should be dealt with accordingly. There should be a mediation process to where these kids are given an opportunity to turn their lives around. They should be charged and then given the maximum penalty with an opportunity to turn things around. If the penalty is incarceration, then that sentence will not actually be served, but they be given the opportunity to take steps to correct the behavior through volunteer projects, community service and a mentorship program based on their interest, and a program to change their views on policing. A visit to the state prison for a day may be an option.

That police officer felt that she was a macho two groups were in an argument, you are the only officer there what makes you think that you can solve the problem with out without out your squadron? The officer was just thought that she was untouchable. Guess that she will learn now that back up required when ever there is a conflict between too groups or when ever gangs are involved

These are school children in UNIFORM. Not hard back adults. I speak to young children all the time. It is our job as a community to correct young people when they are misbehaving. We send our children to school, and we would not like them to get hurt. She may have save a life of a child by doing her job. Which is to PROTECT ANDN SERVE. She did not act macho. Stop judging and criticizing. I wonder if you are a parent, you seen to enjoy what happen to her. But remember, the boys are growing up. When they get older, so will we. Who will protect us from them, when they are full blown monsters.

I pray for God’s guidance for the boys, and I pray for their parents, that the peace and love of Christ dwell in their heart, so they can spread love, and not hatred. In Jesus name.

Thank you for your intelligent caring comment.

Inside that police uniform was the heart of a woman with its maternal instincts. I am sure she was aware she was facing danger. But as she looked at those ”boys”, she saw something a male officer might not have seen. They could have been her own.

What they did cannot be excused. For their own good and to avoid a repetition of such terrible behavior they must be dealt with in a way that teaches them a lesson and sends out an unmistakeable message.

I congratulate the lady cop for her willingness to serve even at a risk to herself. I know she would say ”Its what we do.” I thank the other police – people of equal courage – who quickly did their duty and maybe avoided greater harm bring done. And to the civilians who helped I say you are appreciated for doing what is right at such a time.

We should all pray for the boys, their parents, the police, and civilians. After the event often trauma remains…

She is a police officer. They were boisterous. One of her duties is to disperse them; to tell them to move on. They should have got the message. She was within her rights to try to quell their loud argument and to keep the peace. As a police officer, it obviously did not cross her mind that students would attack her.
Whoever thought this would happen in D/ca? If those students were gentil, they would never have maliciously attacked her. All they had to do was to keep quiet, listen to her, obey and walk away. Surely, they should have given it a thought that they should not attack her. Something vicious got into them.
I reside in a country that whenever young students especially congregate and are loud, there could be trouble. The security and/or police officers will disperse them. If they are too loud they are asked to stop or to leave.
Those students must keep in mind that they are in the public domain; not their homes. Peace and safety must be kept.

Some students have no respect for Authority, and their parents are the ones to blame either being lack of attention or just lack of discipline it is important that parents take control of their children it doesn’t matter the age ,once you cant feed your self or put a roof over your head parents are no becoming best friends with their children I am not saying that parents cant be a friend to their child ,but when a child is doing wrong and behaving in a manner that you cant control as a parent you must put your foot down.

Parents are the ones to blame ,im not blaming peer pressure, hats total horse, we as parents need to take control of our children so they wont embarrass us, I saw the young man yesterday but this young men need to be dealt with accordingly ,Chief of Police, The Principal of the varying schools cant take this matter lightly.

Parents take control of your children, every afternoon tooo many students are seen lingering on the side walks after sschool

      October 6, 2016

Some parents are to blame, not all. Some parents do their best with their children, THEIR BEST. The fathers need to step up, and discipline the children, instead of just planting seeds all over the place, and then leaving them for the mother to raise. Some of the teachers at school are not mature enough to teach those children. I know a teach, who gives (h) mother rudeness at home, and in the public. That is a HIGH SCHOOL teacher. Children need teachers to be their parents while they are at school. Not their friend or enemy. They need more discipline. Not just sending them to the principal’s office and suspend them. They need to pray with them, council them and when they err send them to do Community service, cleaning the school, planting flowers in the school yard etc. Not all students can learn academically. Some needs to be taught skills. Keep them busy. They want to use their hands let them do woodwork. We all need to guide those children. All of them.

I suggest a curfew is put on young people….anyone under the age of 18 found on the streets after 7 by themselves ans not in the company of an adult should be taken in and the parents charged….This needs to be done especially around Festive times, when that devil music is played by some of the popular local bands that send them into a trans …..Drastic action must be taken else these youths will distroy our society if they have not already done so……This is pure madness now…..You feel so big and bad that you and your goons fight with an officer of the Law in broad day light????? You leave school and instead of going home, you stand around a corner arguing with each other. For what? Students acting loudly, lowly, boldly and disturbing the peace.
I wonder if the police officer who was sadly attacked did not come on the scene what would they do to each other?
School is a place of learning. I have previously stated that students should learn discipline in school. This should indicate to the educators that they are in dire need of discipline. Even though it is for one hour a week, they should be given this lecture and training; love and respect for others.
Unbelievable that they are from a popular school. Popular and reputable school?
Now they have to stand before the Court for attacking a police officer who was conducting her duty. This is a serious offense. You never attack a police officer. Additional charges will be laid. The penalty will be more severe.
If they know how to commit a crime, their names should be released.

My parents were disciplined ones. The environment I lived in D/ca., neighbors and friends were disciplined. I am told I am disciplined and regimental. I simply reply, if you knew my parents you would know why. Today, I am older. This has not changed.
I lived in D/ca and never got in trouble with anyone. I live abroad and I do not get in trouble unless someone makes trouble for me. I stay far away from it. I can say I get along with people. Being older, I also use psychology. There is a time to talk and a time to keep quiet.
Discipline is an asset. It is not a liability or an impediment. When I look back, I am happy to have had such parents and thank God for them.
You do know, if we respect ourselves we will not only command it but we will receive it. It follows us everywhere we go. I stand by that. What is more, even strangers recognize it in those who are disciplined.
I endorse parental and school discipline.

I agree with you, because, some people are only thinking of grades, and not the behavior of the child/student.

Some children are products of mental and physical abuse, and they attend school with the sole intention of harming others. They are not interested in School. all they do is misbehave. Some of them need a little attention, from someone who cares. The teachers should look for that type of behavior, and work with that child/children instead of always suspending them. They need help, and that is why they are sent to school, to teach them, discipline them and guide them. Sometimes, I wish the primary schools followed the same example of the Pre-school. These teachers do a very good job.

One counsellor has a whole district. If the trained people cannot do it , teachers can do it. All you not tired of looking to teachers to undo what the home does. Poor teachers. Some teachers now have to wear apron at the start of the day so a child can get some kind of greeting. These children need to know their parents care. They need to know and hear, I love you. I will support you, but at the same time if you do wrong, I will punish you!! Stop looking to the teacher for everything…..we have to feed them, we have to hug them, we have to listen to them. Some of us wish we could take them from the miserable excuses for homes they come from. What is wrong with you people. The things that are important don’t come up at election time. Safe homes for children, a counsellor per school…go advocate. Teachers do enough.

Do you recall a few years ago as posted on DNO that a view high school students disobeyed the teachers and even injured them? There were two different cases. Ever since I stated that they should be taught discipline in the schools.
We live in an era that special attention must be given to children who are also unruly in school. It appears not much is done about that.
Yes! Some go to school angry, are always angry which is why they act in such a manner. The school educators are in a position to help them.
I have also stated that they should have a one-on-one discussion with parents and also separately with the child (children) and then get them all together for a discussion. Probably something good could come out of that. If the children are left to themselves, violence could be the outcome.
The schools of today must do more for the students than expecting them only to be intelligent in order to pass their exams.
Psychologists are needed for the schools.

When children start fighting police we all know society is in a state of moral decay and the future looks bleak indeed. If the officer had whopped their behind with her baton or shoot one in self defense Dcans would try to hang her. Looks like we training police boys and girls in Morne Bruce these days who are even scared to defend themselves. Gone are the days of the legendary Shadow Specky James, Old Daddy, Woman Inspect. Austrie and the likes who were real officers of the law. No time for BS be it man or woman.

That is what the education act has done. Only the principal can punish, rubbish. I am not saying that children have to be abused but in my days any teacher cud apply corporal punishment and we are well disciplined adults today. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Several things are wrong here. I know one of the boys. He’s been a “troublemaker” from since primary school. His mother, when called to school, would either not show up, or shed would say that she didn’t know what to do with him. I cannot say that I am surprised. There is a major deficit in parenting. The modern parent is mostly uninvolved, and so children grow up Ill disciplined lacking respect for authority, defiant. Those parents who do not fall into such category, want to be their children’s best friend. As a result, children think they are on best friend terms with other adults.
At school, you now have time out corners. When a child insists on misbehavior, whatever its nature, child goes to the time out corner. Child returns after time out, same behavior exhibited. Call in parents, you get “I working, I cannot come”.
child learns that he can get away with anything.
So that they are assaulting police officers is no big thing. They…

One need to check the homes from which these students come. some parents try hard but the kids are influenced by peer pressure. However the majority of these students are often not nurtured by their parents properly.
If legislation allow for greater accountability of parents then probably things may change. I believe in taking a very very tough stance that will instill fear and trembling that they will not forget.

A few years ago, while I was Director of Telecoms I saw some students chasing a younger student and throwing stones at him at the corner of Independence Street and Hillsborough Street. I stopped one and indicated to him that he could possible severely hurt the other guy to the point of death or strike a passerby or damage a vehicle causing an accident.

This young student used words I had never heard in my life – I thought it was another new foreign language. I told him that he never knows whom he may be speaking to and he never knows where he may fall. He Cursed…

He cursed me to kingdom come and left. Now a few years later a young man walked into my office inquiring about employment or possible direction as relates electronics and employment telecoms either in my department or a recommendation to one of the telecoms companies. I immediately recognized him as the guy who cursed me some years earlier. He had fine grades but that first impression lasted. After we talked about his dreams and what his interests were I asked him if he remembered me – well he didn’t. I then reminded him and I saw a BLACK KID TURN WHITE with shock and embarassment. I still gave him a chance – You see YOU NEVER KNOW WHOM YOU ARE SPEAKING TOO AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE YOU FALL.

This is just unbelievable man! High school children attacking a female officer? This this is unheard of and bad for our country. Where is the respect we once had for our men and women in uniform? Are they being influenced by what they see on TV, where officers are being attacked and killed?

While I strongly condemn violence against officers, let me also remind us that people are influenced by words and actions of their leaders. They heard when PM Skerrit said “No law no constitution” could stop him and unfortunately, he was damn right as no law or constitution stopped him. In fact they maybe helped him. They also heard of the alleged men that were arrested and beaten by a high ranking man and the police did nothing. In fact they heard that it was done in the presence of an officer and yesterday a government minister said those men were intercepted and handed to the police. Guys, we allowing corrupt politicians to destroy DA thinking is UWP we hurting, Our evils catching with us

Children behaviour are the product of parenting and the presence of the parents in the upbringing of their children. Too much is being left for schools / teachers to do job of parenting. That’s totally unacceptable for students to carry weapons to school and even worse to attack a woman police officer. Lack of respect for authority, Lack of respect for women and intent to hurt students and teachers at the teaching institution they attend.

I know nothing about these particular young people. But in many such cases we find examples of what happens when people violate God’s moral code as it is laid out for us in 1 Corinthians 6
        verses 9 to 11, and verses 18 to 20.

In many of these situations we have unwed mothers struggling to raise a child or children with no husband, and no father in the home. There is no answer apart from a nation wide revival of New Testament Christianity and true righteousness. It has to be a revival that will produce pastors who are not afraid to bite the bullet and start preaching the Word of God as it is without fear or favor.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

    • October 7, 2016

That is exactly what many mothers would say.

Parents that would talk like that are the reason the children are turning out the way they are. These parents themselves are a disaster. Is nobody teaching the parents?

A basic course in parenting should be offered to couples expecting their first child. Pastors in churches should include instructions in parenting from time to time in their Sunday sermons. It is not like the Bible has nothing to say on the subject.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill (Pastoral Counselor Certificate)

This is what i been talking about all along,We need to be thinking about the kids coming up because they are the leaders of tomorrow. All we as Dominicans care about these days is politics and not focusing on the most important things our kids. Kids these days have been into Alcohol,Marijuana, and other drugs and the Dominican society will not or has not seen the seriousness in this rise. When kids can go to dance and come in at day break, drink, have sex and parents have no control, what do we expect, do not get me wrong there are some good kids and parents out there, but now we all need to do our part as Dominicans to help our kids do better.
I don’t think we should blame TV,Internet,or the gangsta on the street. We should all blame ourselves as parents and take charge.Talk to your kids ,Teach them Right ,Show them you care and you will figure out that there is allot that’s on your child’s mind.

    • October 10, 2016

Children can only learn morals and values from adults who exemplify what they teach. This applies to parents and school teachers.

This is a challenge because we cannot do much about the parents at home. School boards need to screen those who apply for teaching positions to get people of good character who live God’s moral code because of two facts.

      (1) If students don’t like a teacher they will not learn as they should.

      (2) If students do like a teacher they will not only learn the academic subjects. They will want to be like the person and find themselves emulating his or her lifestyle. Those who teach the upcoming generation
are the nation builders who decide what your country will be like in the next generation.

Besides all of this our society needs to know that no amount of worldly education can change the human heart. Only the influence of the word of God can give us new birth into the family of God and
      produce true goodness.

Many of the young boys especially need mentorship programs..and not just talk..Mentorship where they go to work for 2 hours (3o’clock to 5 o’clock) after school ends at 1 o’clock…The children have way too much unproductive time to themselves..

Those young boys always on the end of the street at 1 0’clock..so this is the congregation pedestrians can hardly walk..Parents take control of your children..teach them to spend their time wisely..Life will only become harder when they start beating Police from high school..this is a very worrrying problem for the whole society of Dominica..School hours way too short..!!

When I was in elementary school we were in class from 9 A.M. to 12 noon and 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. or 3:30 P.M. if we were lucky. We had a 15 minute recess mid morning and mid afternoon. High School was a little more flexible as far as the hours were concerned.

We thought the hours were fair and good preparation because most jobs require seven to eight hour work days. What I didn’t think was fair was the load of homework that was often laid on us at the end of the day. This took away the fun time I looked forward to with my buddies in the evenings. It made school less enjoyable. I have always thought if teachers want the students to like school (a prerequisite to maximum learning) they should create a better balance.

A few days ago the minister of Justice and immigration boast of adding 39 new police officers and another 40 more by year end. I asked what is the justification. Again I say an ideal society is one that requires few police and has little crime. In the late 70s and 80s there were fewer cops in Dominica and all the bad boys knew their limit. A school kid or school kids would not dare put hands on an officer. The problem is respect for the law and those who enforce it has been lost. I would get my butt whopped at home if I ever thought of being in a gang much less beat an officer. I have said before our society has been down the drain and out in the ocean by now. The sooner we admit we screwed up the sooner we save ourselves from drown. This brazen lack of respect is a direct result of the examples set by the leadership in our country. People are like sheep. They all follow whoever in charge and if the leadership are bottom brains, guess what! So goes the flock.

Its like almost every man and woman must use a bad word to get attention, especially the bus drivers on King George V Street. I am not such if it a result of bad upbringing or just lack of education. But that needs to change. It is not a good reflection of the country. It shows that Dominicans are very ignorant.

Parents take ur place! discipline ur children n stop the “it wasn’t my child” attitudes. Spare the rod n spoil the child. Fathers! Be the good role model in ur children life especially ur boys n take charge! Stop playing the blame game. It’s our children so love them but allow them to know that their are consequences to their actions. These are our leaders of tomorrow. Lord help us!

I could not be a police officer and this is happening to me or my police colleague NO!!!! Sir eh eh not me,
As an officer i would have gotten a Tam-brine wipe and i would have given each one of the student a CUT ASS and if the parents coming talking crap I would give them a cut ass too for not disciplining their children and having a generation to grow like this . They would never think of disrespecting a woman far more for a police officer. No Man police officers you all need to take you all stand. Are you guys serious now , I mean how can that be…?

If we know who they are and were, who would be so hypocritical to make such a kind statement about them?
Do you know these few words of a song, “Some things are better left unsaid?” In this case, it would be better only to wish them RIP. When they die it is God and themselves in front of His Judgment Seat. The life they lived and their conscience will decide where their souls will end up in eternity.

IF society , a body, is ill then it is all that comprises the whole that is flawed. If we as a ppl start individually working on ourselves to be better then collectively society will become better. Dominicans are slowly loosing our definition and we are allowing economics to define us, how we think, how we act, how we live towards each other. Dominicans tolerate each other, if we can understand love as a people and try and emulate that character and see Yhwh, then and only then will society be better, work on urself to be better u are a part of this body.

Who are you to make this comment? D/ca is a country. Its nationals make up the country. You stated to all of them that they are all the same. Too much talk and an insulting one at that and no good action.
Have you ever prayed for D/ca? If you are a Catholic and a practicing one at that, from afar, you could even bless D/ca with Holy Water. God sees the act and knows the intention. He will bless D/ca. You, in turn, will receive his blessing and graces. If you fail to do that, you receive nothing and worst yet by your criticism.
To say D/ca’s society is lost . . . is looking down on your country of birth. Shame on you! I think you are the one who is lost.
What do you know, smarty pants? Are you aware that, where you reside, you must pray for D/ca and the rest of the world for that matter?
God created D/ca. He will never give up on D/ca. What about you as a national, a D/can-born? Get it with and commence praying for Dominica. A short prayer will do.

See, now im my days that could have NEVER EVER happened. it didnt matter what school i went to. SMA, DGS, Goodwill school because i knew that after my parents had their way with me, what ever was left of me it would have to face the wrath of the principal for disrespecting the institution of represent especially with my school uniform on. then i would have to face the shame of my fellow students. My question is, are the youth today encouraged to consider their futures? How society sees them? if im a business man seeing this, will i want to hire these same young men after they graduate from high school or state college and are seeking employment? The youth of today move like they will die tomorrow so they have no regrets or remorse and just do anything without care or consideration for their fellow man. If thats how you want to move, someone may just grant you your wish. Anyway severely punish these disgraces. parents, prinicipal of school and the state for attacking a state officer.

Where was the policeMEN dem? Where was the SSU dem? Was the police lady on patrol by herself or wha?

Does any kind of logistical and tactical proactive planning go into the police patrols? Wasn’t it just the other day on a midday radio program concerns were raised about these roudy students gathering in certain areas of Roseau after school to make trouble?

I say arm the SSU with guns, tasers and batons and unleash these armed SSU to patrol the streets of Roseau on the weekdays between 12pm and 4pm especially when the school term is on. We cannot have these wannabe ‘bad men & gyals’ – who are mostly cowards embolden by their group gangs – terrorizing the citizenry with their abominable ways.

You see their cowardice on display – one crying after he was detained and three others ran away.

I urge the gendarme dem to immediately launch an operation that will drive UTTER FEAR & TERROR into the hearts of these uncivilized children.

      • Freelance
        October 5, 2016

Q95 will not complain rather they will bring to your and others attention that the children are seeing lawlessness from the top. Example the GON Emmanuel fire bombing , the throwing of hot liquid on a human being and the recent actions by a Minister in …. Q95 will also remind you of public statements which encourages lawlessness. Example when you see the opposition anywhere go up to their faces and shout traitors. Whether it is at funerals, at the supermarket even on airplanes and people like you said nothing. Q95 will also remind people like you when leaders say publicly no law, no constitution can prevent them from doing what they have to do even if they people like thought t bring all lawyers in the World. Think the youth were not listening. I strongly condemn the actions of the youth and the brunt of the harshest disciplinary action should be levelled against them. At the same time I wish people like you will also find the moral fibre to condemn our leaders.

Stfu about where were the policemen ?. She signed up for a job she thought she could have handled on her own. Why not ask where were the other policewomen to back her up or just where were the other officers to keep gender out of it. I’m fed up of females asking for males when they get themselves in a jam. They said equality for all and preach about women independence. Handly allu issues by urself when allu sign up for it or put allu self in it dammit ?

      • October 7, 2016

You don’t know enough about policing to write a comment like this. Generally speaking female officers are doing their job well, on par with their male counter parts. There are cases where a male officer has had a similar problem. It is not unusual for an officer – male or female – to have to call for backup.

You sound like somebody who finds it difficult to accept women doing jobs which have traditionally been dominated by men. Some men in these jobs feel threatened when they see women coming aboard and sometimes out performing them. You fellows need to grow up and come into the 21st century.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

    • Tell the Truth
      October 5, 2016

When their children act in such a manner, some worst, when they get into trouble, disciplined by teachers, suspended or expelled from school, their parents will blame everyone else but themselves. Some will be blind and bold to defend them.
What some parents do not realize, if they fail to exercise their parental duty as also disciplining their children, God will hold them accountable. These children will grow up to adulthood. How will they treat others? If they get married and have children, how will they treat their spouse and children? It also include those whom they interact with as also co-workers. They may be problem children/adults.
Even as an adult, parents will be answerable to God if their children go astray and did not exercise their duty as adults. It is a serious matter.
When parents fathered and mothered children, they should be advised of their responsibility to their children until they attain adulthood, something they should never shirk from.

As an adult should you not be smarter than that and know better than that? Everything is the government, to be blamed for their lack of discipline and respect? They have parents. The shame falls on parents when children are lawless; not the government.
It is a foolish comment. I have previously responded to such a comment. I also term it an ignorant one from one who does not think clearly, putting it mildly.
The PM is not their mother/father; not even their brother/sister, aunt/uncle and cousin. Why are you implicating him in this? It is foolish and small-minded to do so.
I think it is high time this type of comment ceases. It projects those who make such a comment to have a lowly mind and one of dislike/hatred. This is what you depict to sensible people who know better and who would never consider making such a stupid comment about the PM. It is time for you to learn discipline and respect.

I wonder if those students even go to church and pray.
I hope they learn a lesson from this.

      • October 10, 2016

They are thugs on their way to becoming criminals. People have a right to wonder what journey brought them to where they are now.

Students who don’t honor their father and mother often have no respect for the rules of the school, and break the laws of he land. Given the opportunity thy will defy an officer of the law. It is their way of saying “Nobody is going to tell me what to do.”

It is at home children should be first taught the foundations of successful living, and these things should be reinforced by what they are taught in Sunday School, and the pastor’s preaching from the pulpit. The Bible says “Children obey your parents … Honor thy father and mother; … … that it may be well with three, …” (Ephesians 6:1-3) This is one of the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament. Then it was carried on into the New Testament and is found in several New Testament books.

Those who obey the Word of God have the best life.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

      • October 10, 2016

        Go to church and pray?

Not a bad thing to do!

The Founder and Director of the F.B.I. J. Edgar Hoover said “A child brought up in Sunday School is seldom brought up in court.”

But people should know this. Going to church will not make you a Christian any more than going to a barn will make you a horse. Jesus said “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)

The Bible shows we are all sinners. Our sins have separated us from God. We cannot save ourselves. But on the cross the Lord Jesus suffered, bled, and died to pay the penalty for all our sins. On the third day God raised Him from the dead to show He accepted that sacrifice for our
salvation so “…whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) This is what it means to be “born again”. Literally, it mean BORN FROM ABOVE. God gives us everlasting life.

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.
