“Hike with your Clergy” coming

A “Hike with your Clergy” initiative is about to hit Segment 13 – Penville to Capuchin – of the Waitukubuli National Trail.

The effort involves the Association of Diocesan Clergy (Province of Castries) Local branch of the Roman Catholic Church, which is encouraging as many people as possible to sign up for the May 7 event.

The organisers say the activity will include a Family and Fun Day at Bell Hall Beach.

According to a statement from the Waitukubuli National Trail Management Unit and the Diocese of Roseau, special arrangements are being made for those not able to undertake the full hike.

“The more senior or challenged persons will walk from Purple Turtle to Bell Hall part of Segment 14 of the trail. The event targets the entire Diocesan of Roseau, church members as well as other interest groups island wide to participate,” the statement says.

According to the organisers, the objectives of the event include advancing  the social mission of the church, promoting health and wellness and spiritual well being, and fund raising that will go towards the 2013 Conference of the Association of Diocesan Clergy Province of Castries to be held in Dominica.
