Kenneth Darroux appeals for peace, tolerance

Darroux

Parliamentary representative for the Petite Savanne constituency has appealed for peace as 2011 draws to a close.

Kenneth Darroux said in his Christmas message that “the culture of violence is slowly invading our once peaceful society” and Dominicans must guard against it.

“Let us learn to agree to disagree, and to understand, that we may not all think alike but this should not in any way lead to disruptive behaviour,” he stated.

Robberies have been one of the most talked about problems that have recently been affecting the island, though the police department has denied an increase in those cases this year.

Chief of Police Cyril Carrette said at a press conference last week that “totally, we have had a marginal increase in crimes in Dominica”, and that while crimes decreased in the first half of the year, they might have increased later.

“Let us learn to be tolerant of each other,” Darroux appealed.

Hon Darroux. Why can’t your government tolerate those who have an opposing view to theirs? These people are denigrated by members of your cabal, they are called all sorts of dehumanising names, they are victimised, called terrorists, suicide bombers, cockroaches, etc. What do you think about that Sir? Is that fair? FINALLY THERE CANNOT BE ANY PEACE where there is no JUSTICE.

Mr Darroux, you need to be taught what representation is all about. From your point, and what you give to the people, it’s disappointing.

I totally agree we should cultivate a culture of peace and tolerance,i hope u are not only saying that because of your selfish ego.Have u alerted your colleague Mr.Roosevelt Medard Skerrit about sowing a culture of peace? What happens when one’s rights are violated and can’t get justice like in the case of Mr.G.O.N Emmanuel?Don’t u think room will be left for anger frustration which can lead to one seeking revenge in a violent way?So therefore without JUSTICE there’ll be no PEACE

Honourable Darroux, i have read the skimpy message you delivered to Dominicans recently. While i agree that peace is something that mankind should strive for,and while millions around the world are yearning for peace, you fell short of making a correlation between peace and justice. They complement each other sir. While i would like to live in a peaceful Dominica, it aches my stomach to see that those who should be at the vanguard of bringing peace to this beautiful country, glibly pontificate peace but refuse or are afraid of the word JUSTICE.This is particularly so for the government(this present government) and the police.
The well renowned and international reggae artiste, from West Berlin parish, and the ghettos of Trench Town in Jamaica Peter “The Lion” Tosh said ‘there will be no peace without Equal Right and Justice’.
You must be balanced in what you say or else this country of ours is doomed to failure, and disaster.IS THERE JUSTICE IN DOMINICA SIR? HOPE YOU ANSWER!
