Kings Hill/Morne Bruce residents show community spirit

Residents hard at work

Armed with shovels, cutlasses, spades and rakes, the residents of Kings Hill/Morne Bruce embraced the natural elements and took part in a “Clean Up and Beautification” program on Friday 4th November, 2011.
The Ministries of Tourism and Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry Division embarked on a collaborative effort with the Kings Hill Development Committee and the Kings Hill Youth for Change Revived to help keep the community beautiful and environmentally friendly.

The program involved painting of galvanize fencing, clearing of shrubs, clearing of drains, picking-up garbage, and tree planting in  the community.

The Morne Bruce area was the high-light of the beautification activity.  Visitors will get a better picture of the unique attributes of this community. And the residents will be motivated to preserve and protect the environment.

The “Clean Up and Beautification” effort was properly executed by the residents of Kings Hill and Morne Bruce with support from the Ministries of Tourism and Agriculture & Forestry. The Ministry of Tourism will continue the drive to enhance and beautify the Morne Bruce area to ensure a quality of life that is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

It’s always said that unity is strength and strength is power, though i agree i have come to the conclusion that it’s not so for black people. I being black myself feel ashame that i have to conclude this way but i find we do better as a “one man show”. If you look at this seriously you will notice that once we black join to do anything it fails but does so well when is one alone doing it. Slavery may have affected us pretty bad because we follow the white man so very well. The only reason why Dominica and all other black controled countries doing badly is simply because not enough white or another race influence. Dominica’s problems is not Skerrit or labour nor was it UWP or any past government although i would agree that the odds are against us since we are black controlled country from the bigger white nations. I am not saying this here to bring us down but rather that we start thinking about this seriously so if at all we are to think of mooving forward atleast we would be mindful of the problem. As is said in other for you to change you must first accept that you have a problem.
