LIAT’s reputation has fallen to such a low that friends are flying from Europe to Miami, then San Juan just to avoid having to fly with LIAT. Another is flying London, Paris and on to St Maarten, then taking Air BVI. All this extra expense because LIAT simply cannot run an airline efficiently after more than fifty years of experience.

This is not a LIAT issue, but it’s the PILOT who at this time in tight economic situations are asking for unimaginable salary increases.

I called LIAT and was told there’s no industrial action affecting flights *today* (6th), but I should call back later to find out about tomorrow.

No mention of this on the LIAT website.

wait until you guys hear why they strike!! according to the news two pilots were suspended because they were not convinced proper maintenance was conducted on the aircraft so they refused to fly the plane. safety first. I hope DNO prints the story.

Now a days, when one has booked their flight with LIAT for onward travel,{connection flight} they are not sure to catch their flight in the other island, so when it is LIAT’s fault, who is going to foot the bill?

    COME ON LIAT, NOT AGAIN.

“Customers affected by the disruptions who wish to re-book will be allowed to do so without charge for a period of one week from the date of their originally scheduled travel. Affected passengers are advised to contact LIAT Reservations to re-book before proceeding to the airport.”

“Passengers with onward connections are advised to contact their respective carriers.”

“Customers affected by the disruptions who wish to re-book.” DO THEY HAVE A CHOICE?

“Passengers with onward connections are advised to contact their respective carriers.” LIAT, ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR THEIR CHARGES?

ROOSEVELT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS AIRLINE THAT CONSTANTLY LEAVE PASSENGERS HANGING.

    • November 6, 2013

I guess this THUMBS DOWN mean “YOU” disagree with the “TRUTH”. “YOU” are NOT an AFFECTED PASSENGER, or “YOU” have STOCKS in L.I.A.T.

I hope that when “YOU” are about to travel “YOUR” flight will NOT be interrupted, “YOUR” connection is SECURE, and “LIAT” PAYS “YOUR” EXPENSES if you DO NOT make “YOUR” CONNECTION.

    • Malgrays
      November 6, 2013

Are you seriously saying that LIAT pilots are striking because we do not have that airport? Boy, they would have that strike even if we had two international airports. What we really need is competition for that inefficient airline.

Alright, I wholehearted believe that it is high time that the powers that be take some action that could remedy the situation with LIAT.

Too many people’s lives have been disrupted, inconvenienced, or set back due to the LIAT’s unethical practices!

Why do we keep investing in a company that does not have our best interest at heart?! Why!? Ma gwa sah!

Here we go again! For two month it has been rather quiet. What is the matter with this airline? Ok, it appears that they were caught wrong footed by the pilots trade union. However, I cannot take this as a valid excuse. Other airlines all around the world seem to be able to keep their pilots and staff happy without constant strikes. What it comes down to yet again, is bad management of the company. Nobody can tell me that this strike came totally out of the blue. Impossible!
We cannot keep going on like this. Our hotels on the islands are struggling as it is without constant additional problems which are out of their control. Tourists affected by this constant LIAT madness are unlikely to ever return to the island.
Skerrit, how comes your government or you cannot deliver on this one??? That is was you claimed yesterday in your ‘proud’ speech. My government delivers…

It is now time for hardworking people, who scrimp and save for their fares to vote with their feet, and forget about LIAT in Dominica. The Ferry calls into Roseau, fifteen minutes walk from home. I will now fly into St Lucia or the French Islands, and then on to Roseau. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

    • Malgrays
      November 6, 2013

Maybe Lennox has the right idea. A ferry service to Antigua for instance, I would take any time and have no problem with my luggage rather than risk it on an expensive flight with LIAT.Out in the morning from Dominica to catch up with arriving flights from N.America and Europe and return in the evening, even if its late. I’d rather have a coffee/beer, snack and a snooze on the ferry to put me straight into Portsmouth or Roseau than overnight in Antigua with no luggage. Saves me an expensive taxi ride to Melville Hall also.
