Miss Dominica 2017 contestant, Esther Francis believes that pageantry can truly have a positive impact on society.

Francis and Ketisha Joseph were launched over the weekend as they make their way to taking home the crown.

“I have found the pageant can truly have an immense positive impact on society,” Francis, who was launched in Goodwill, said. “As a contestant, you have a chance to a chosen platform to make a difference in the lives of many. I strongly believe that while striving to obtain your dreams you should take time to help others along the way.”

Francis said she hopes one day to have a legacy, “one of integrity and honesty, and a helpful spirit that results in economic betterment.”

Meantime, Joseph, who was launched in Massacre on Sunday said through achieving her academic goal she look forward to one day representing Dominica, “nationally, regionally and internationally, the way our Parliamentary Representative, the Honourable Rayburn Blackmoore has been doing.”

“Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves is another individual I wish to emulate,” she added.

PresentlyJoseph is a student of the University of the West Indies Open Campus pursuing studies in Political Science.

“I chose such a major because it provides one with the knowledge and understanding of government structures, its functioning and policies as well as interest groups, law, international perspective, ethics and conflict resolution,” she explained.

In addition to her interest in the study of politics Miss Joseph said she has an intrinsic passion for volunteerism and the success of young persons.

The National Queen Show is carded for February 24, 2017.

Integrity and honesty are not hallmarks of a legacy these are moral traits that everyone who is brought up properly should display in society. A legacy is anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor, so if u want to build a legacy leave a property when you die or start a school a new school of thought.
