Happy Independence to All and Thank You!

Thanks to those who tuned into Dominica News Online (DNO) for live video coverage of the National Parade at Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau Wednesday morning.

Almost 400 persons viewed despite no notice or advertisement. Last week, almost 1,000 people viewed the Ms. Wob Dwiyet pageant on DNO – our first live stream – despite only three hours of notice and the fact we started late due to technical challenges.

Our stats dwarf those of our competitors who record only double digits.

Also thanks to Chad George’s Advance Technology Solutions (ATS) for providing this valuable service to our company and to Dominicans at home and abroad.

Happy Independence to all and wish for all a blessed day.

@journalist: You cannot be a journalist and you talking about situation?? You meant citation I suppose and so many other careless mistakes. Admin, what is this you are talking about? The independence day speech is published each year and is readily available to the media. It is printed by the Government Printery so careful with the assumptions please and do your homework to get the news for people.

    ADMIN
If it is readily available why hasn’t it been released to the media? So should we wait until it is printed? We never suggested the PM will never release it and he is not making it public because obviously once it is presented to the public in public it is not a private speech. The point I was trying to make from my 12 years experience in the media, is that government ministers normally have the PR officers or administrative assistance release their speeches immediately after presentation. Sometimes it is sent before the speech is delivered, albeit with an embargoed warning. I’ve lived in four countries and, from experience, as soon as the speech is given, the Prime Minister makes it available to the press via email or fax. No journalist should be made to hunt the PM down for a national address on the country’s Independence. The media cannot be everywhere, doing everything. Obama made his winning speech available immediately after. The Grenada PM sends us his messages immediately to be published on grenadaherald.com and so too are the ministers in Jamaica, Tortola, Antigua, etc… It is called effective media relations whereby the individual or organisation works in a media-friendly way and make access to information easily available. When Skerrit made his speech on the Bin Bobol, it was not readily available in print. Most times the online media is left out. Some govt officials are yet to accept how important online media is now, so they still wait weeks before releasing stuff. Yes it may be readily available to the media, so how, on a holiday, will it be readily available if the PM does not have any “functioning” press secretary, esp. on a holiday?

Happy Independence Dominica and to the people of the lovely island. To the Admin of DNO i got a few questions.
    1. Can you guys at least upload the PM independence day speech for does who did not get to see it online can listen to it…..?
    2. Can you guys also upload the people who got the awards this year along with the situation that was giving to them?
    3. Are you guys caring the Cultural gal this evening online also.
Great job you guys…keep on doing the good work

    ADMIN
Thanks. We just uploaded photos of the persons who received awards, and will be uploading photos of the parade and ceremony.
We had no plans to carry cultural gala but will in the near future.
As for obtaining the PM’s speech, that’s something we would have expected from the PM’s Office after he delivers a speech but obtaining it is very hard. Not sure why, as in most countries, the PM’s or President’s speech is emailed to the media for posting immediately after or before delivery.
Thanks for your kind comments as we work hard to serve you better.

I have been trying and trying did not open, but i am still going to try

    ADMIN
Sorry about that. The live coverage has just ended. Some people did not get on, possibly because of their internet connection, computer issues or the fact they did not have the programme required to watch the video downloaded on their computer. Hopefully next time, viewing can be achieved by those who missed it.
