New Attorney General Levi Peter will begin duty today.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit signaled the former magistrate and head of the Dominica Bar Association for the post last Friday.
Peter replaces Dominica’s first female AG Franice Baron-Royer whose contract expired on October 16. She did not seek a contract renewal.
According to a DBS news item report this morning, although Peter will begin work today, his appointment is still subjected to the approval of the St. Lucia-based Legal and Judicial Services Commission.
This approval and the swearing-in ceremony for the new attorney general is nonetheless expected to both take place within the coming days.
