Though remaining tight-lipped about the identity of a replacement for Dr. Charles Corbette, who served as a technical officer within the Ministry of Carib Affairs, Minister Ashton Graneau has confirmed that an individual has been selected for the post.
Corbette will soon travel to Cuba to take up his new position as Dominica’s Ambassador to Cuba, while the incoming technical officer will commence duties by month end, Graneau said.
“There has been a replacement…. We have already identified the replacement…. The person should be in office soon in fact … before the end of this month,” he stated.
“Dr. Corbette is expected to take up [office] anywhere from the middle of this month. I don’t think he’s gonna be in Cuba before the end of September. He is still with us because there are a few things we have to put together to prepare for the new person,” Graneau stated.
Graneau is optimistic that Dominica’s new Ambassador to Cuba will assist in opening new frontiers for Kalinago people in Cuba.
Corbette replaced former Ambassador to Cuba Claxon Thomas effective August 1, 2010.
