As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ in this season of peace, love and goodwill, we are painfully aware that all is not well with many of the God fearing, hardworking people of Dominica.
We have endured many trials and tribulations this year and continue to do so. We have seen our nation bend under the weight of massive social and economic problems. We have seen our debts mount and our disposable income shrink. We have seen our society continue to be infested with every form of criminality and immorality. We have seen our national wealth distributed to a privileged few while the masses can’t make ends meet. We have seen the agents of evil surround us like wolves seeking to violate every principle, every rule, every law and every standard of goodness that we hold dear.
We have seen the hopes built up by UWP Team Dominica dashed to pieces on the rocks of stolen elections as our calls for voter ID cards and a clean electoral list echo in the ears of our electoral commission that has decided to be deaf and impotent in the discharge its constitutional responsibility for free and fair elections.
Yes, brothers and sisters, we have endured many trials this year. A weaker people would let their frustration and bitterness dominate their feelings this Christmas. But we are made of sterner stuff. We know better.
We know that this is the time to show our fortitude, to remain strong, to remain focused and to keep our faith alive. As God-fearing Dominicans, we realize that this Christmas is a time for us to show that peace, love and goodwill can come about only through our active and ardent pursuit of truth and justice. That is why we resolve to let our faith burn even more brightly at this time and let the brightness of our faith – our unshakeable belief that God has something better for our nation ahead of us – drive away the darkness that seeks to overcome us.
Let us keep our faith by honoring the spirit of our ancestors who relentlessly confronted and challenged the sources of our trials and tribulations. Let us epitomize their determination to right the grievous wrongs that plague our humanity.
Let us remember the good people who share our strong God-given values, who share our vision of making Dominica the best place to live, the best place to work and the best place to enjoy life.
Let us keep our faith alive by recognizing the prayer warriors for godliness; the patriots for the advancement of our civility; and the crusaders for truth, righteousness and justice who stand beside us resolute in the conviction that we will prevail in the ultimate victory of good over evil.
This Christmas, let us ensure that the ties that bind us to our loved ones, the ties that bind us as a society, are rooted in the spiritual purity that blessed the earth and all humanity through the birth, life and sacrifice of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Let us celebrate this Christmas in the spirit of the peace-on-earth, goodwill-to-men message that accompanied the Christ Child to Bethlehem 2014 years ago. Are you really serious Mr. Linton? I have read in its entirety your Christmas message, it clearly shows that you and not of what you started with; “Peace”. Sir, if you have not noticed, the elections have already passed, we have a new duely elected Government, and you just don’t have a choice but to “help” build the Dominica you claim to love so much, Genuinely. Is this really a Christmas Message? Shame to those who have acknowledged Lennox’s Political message as a Christmas Message. They should take time and read this piece of crap over. They should try to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
Dominica needs a massive exorcism because the spirit of evil has overtaken the land. Everyone has a comment on politics but half the comments disappear when the social and economic ills of the land are surfaced.
Tell me what kind of Christmas will it be for the hundreds of victims of Domestic Abuse? Welfare division say the problem is out of control, but politicians are quiet on that one.
What kind of new year the children being sexually exploited are to have? Welfare say they are so under resourced to combat the problem, all we can do now is pray. What does the PM have to say on that one? He can’t fly in a $250K solution? No sewo fix for that one?

You commented on social and economical problems in D/ca, the same is being experienced here in the US.
The shrinkage of disposable income, this no longer exist here in the US for more than 90% of the population.

In the US presently 95% of the national wealth is owned by 1% of the population.
Rules, laws and standards of goodness are totally different for the white as it is for every other of the majority of the population…………
Mr linton not all dominicans can understand the level that you want to take Dominica, not all Dominicans can even read and understand what you are saying i urge them the read this beautiful piece of literature twice compared to the jumbled up words that the prime minister wrote.

I am not talking from proven research, just observation. I don’t like how dominicans look at politics at all. You can cast your vote, and someone else can cast theirs. Your celebration of Christ should be a daily practice as it is His death as a sacrifice that gives us hope for each day, not for one day. Elections being called in December has nothing to do with Christmas. If people cannot separate two evens 17 days apart, then this is sad. Move on, and live life until the next election is called. I read the comments that are criticizing Lennox and it’s quite clear that the minds of many Dominicans are skewed up.
We just came from an election campaign where Roosevelt Skerrit blatantly stole the elections with a war chest of over $30,000,000.00, he imported mercenary voters, he paid foreign artists millions of dollars, bribed voters and poured building materials in communitie and went on a spree of character assasination and the most vulgar mepuis.
The opposition on the other hand conducted a professional, clean, and effective campaign with a positive message of hope, which convinced the more intelligent people in the Roseau constituencies.
Now the hypocrites expect Lennox to be like them and forget the nastiness of Skerrit, accept an olive branch and move on for another five years.
Hell No! Lennox stay on message, the hypocrites must never be allowed to forget the atrocities committed against Dominica, their conscience must be made to bite them for the next five years.
We must get to the bottom of where the hell the $30 million came from, is it drug money or from terrorists? So let the hypocrites call you names but you are not alone. Stay strong and best wishes for the new year and beyond.

Some say he spent thirty ($30,000,000.00) million dollars, others contend he spent approximately sixty ($60,000,000.00) sixty million. In any event, that is a tremendous amount of money for any political party in Dominica to legally accumulate except if they stole it from the government treasury, which is not an easy thing to do; if that’s where the money came from, it means there are civil servants such as the permanent secretary of the treasury involved, and who may have aided and abated him in committing a crime.
I doubt someone would thrust themselves in to a situation like that which could earn them a long stay at Stock Farm!
Skerrit gave the impression, that the money came from some sort of friendly government to Dominica. That is a myth he conceived in his shallow mind, believing he can fool everybody like how he plays into the mind of the poppet’s of Dominica who crave his handouts. I suppose he try to impress the people that the Government of China sponsored his election campaign.
If we ask the question: How much money is the government owing to Petro Carib? we may find out the amount is more than thirty million dollars. Hence if I was ask to guess where he got all his millions from, I would have to suggest that money honestly belong to Petro Carib. Friendly governments of the world does not give any politician money to run election campaign, because when an election is called no one can actually predict any certain outcome.
What if Skerrit lost?
So, why would any government take sides in a situation like that, now if he said that private individuals donated money for the purpose of buying votes, I would have to agree “maybe.” Then again Skerrit is a little weasel who’s voice is large in Dominica, nevertheless, outside of Dominica he is a nobody, so we still have to ask the question what is the source of his millions?
And indeed the money could derive from the sale of drugs, or from some criminal organization either using Dominica as a base of operation, or intends to use the island as the base of operation, and that is my firm belief and opinion!

You’re wrong, man. The Onus is on ALL our leaders to be a unifying force. No matter what the PM and Speaker will do, Lennox, whom I respect for his intelligence, will never accept them in their positions. Note the content and tone of his speeches since December 9th. Even though “treating” was used by all parties, many who voted for UWP will tell you that they took the treats from DLP and still voted for UWP. Lennox needs to accept and understand that people voted for whom they wanted. They were free to vote for whomever they wanted in the voting booths. They did so in all the constituencies and not only in the six that UWP won. Many of the people who voted for UWP are also looking for personal benefits and when they do not get those benefits, they will also turn against the UWP. Wait and see.
As far as I am concerned, electoral reform is more than just cleaning up the voters list and disallowing treating. It also includes:
(1) no local or foreign entertainment at rallies and meetings,
(2) no distribution of clothing, shoes or other party paraphernalia,
(3) no local or foreign transportation of people to rallies or to vote, and
(4) no promises of economic development to the voting public without reasonably outlining how they will be achieved.
Until then, any general election without the foregoing criteria is not free and fair. The first three on the list are what causes political parties to look for election financing, which can invite corrupt and unsavory sources of money.
Lennox’s attitude so far is definitely off putting for anyone in charge of a company, church or other organization and, the PM and Speaker are going to have to search hard for an infinite amount of patience to deal with him, in and out of the House.
May God cause our leaders to remember that He is in charge and further, deliver our Country from His wrath!

I feel sorry for the people who has made so much negative comments. The negative comments are coming from a certain class if people, they are the illiterate ones’ still inebriated on the corrupted gifts in bribe they took to vote Labor.
Sometimes I am rough on “me almost nearly cousin;” Skerrit but I cannot blame him too much for dominating some of our people body mind and soul who are greedy and corrupt. In politics the politicians use every method and means to win, nevertheless, it all depends on the people to chose one of the two evils.
We hear many in Dominica talk about how corrupt Skerrit is, I say the nation is corrupt, they the people caused people like Skerrit to become corrupt, they do not care, even if they caught Skerrit, or any other politician hands in the cookie jar, as long as that politician let them have one cent on a million dollars, he steals they will allow the politician to go free contented with the one cent they receive, as long as they did not work for that one cent they will ignore the millions the politicians stole.
That is what is happing right now, they know that the regime is corrupt, yet they support it:

Because the individual people of the country are all thieves themselves, hence they could careless if members of the government lift with them on it, and rest the whole island on their head an walk away with it.

Failure is not in our nature, nor in our family plan. Just incase you have no idea, be informed that Lennox is the product of two very successful parent, both were career educators, His father after his career as an educator ended up in the Ministry of Education both his parents retired as principles of schools, all of Lennox siblings are successful people. All of his relatives including yours truly are highly successful people: I do not know, nor can I remember a single one of my aunts nor my grandmother who’s surname is Linton who failed to be successful while they walked the face of the earth.
Talking about family success, right now Lennox has family he has never met, who’s professions range from nursing, to a series of medical doctors, chemical engineers, and apart from me; there are a couple of electronic, and electrical engineers, you do not know anything about us and the potential we possess.
We are indeed very a productive people, we create the sort of life we wish to live okay; the Linton’s created employment for themselves, and never had to subject themselves to the mercy of any employer. Who are you to determine whether Lennox is a failure or not; when he is far better of than you financially, educationally, and materialistically, and further more I know him to be a firm believe in God! Who are you to suggest that he must humble himself? Lennox is perhaps one of the most humblest Dominican yet alive. Before you commenced blowing steam, and talk about people you do not know you need to find out about them; you are a very disgusting person, don’t talk about people you do not know, and the rubbish you talk about humble, and failure, apply that your personal, and your family!
You were a teacher at twelve years old, Lennox did not teach school at age twelve, and though he may not have a university degree, he was able to secure a certain amount of GCE’s; which you do not have, and is now to damn old to get them. Thanks SIR lennox if it were not for you imagine how much more millions would have been stolen. Thank you sir for your work now we hear of n.e.p and salary increase and jobs, and voter id, and 5% growth and we even heard that Dominica can be the best place to live ,work and enjoy life. SMH. I have read the message of the Leader of the Opposition and am sincerely attempting to understand why some people have difficulty with it. Is it his forthrightness, bluntness and honesty? Would you have preferred that he faked or feigned happiness and satisfaction? Why are some of you so totally anxious about the content of Hon Lennox Linton’s message if you are so confident that you are on the side of righteousness?
You see, what Hon Linton has said disturbs you when you get into your beds at night as you reflect. That is it! You cannot rest (even though you fall asleep). St Augustine is clear when he states: “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE AND IT BOTHERS YOU.
We are not made to be dishonest neither are we made to be in chains. And this is why the Opposition Leader’s message is so profound. It leaves some of you restless. Brothers and sisters, it will not go away. You have to live with it until you change course. The reality in Dominica is independent of whether or not you like what Lennox Linton says. Later, your children will thank him for having said these things. It is going to come back to haunt some of you who are shoveling snow after having returned to “safe haven” in North America and Europe. The day will come when you are tired of shoveling snow or living in a foreign land. You must return home to face the germination of the seeds you have planted.
When you stand over the grave side of a loved one, even if it is Christmas time, you will weep and mourn. Similarly, Hon Linton is totally within his right to stand at the graveside of his beloved country – even though it is Christmas time – and weep and mourn. Who would not have penned this message if he did not feel those sentiments.

Have you heard of any other country who has not encountered those social situations which you mentioned above? Well I live in Canada, and I can that those situations are much, much worse in all countries of the world. Before He left us, Jesus told us through His disciples of the Day: “In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”
And just in case you do not know what tribulation means, I will spell it out for you, so here I go:
Tribulations means: Suffering, misfortune, trials, pain, ordeal, distress, difficulty, trouble, problem, hardship and misery.
Now remember that it is Jesus, Himself, who told us that we would and is encountering those omens as we walk this world–how do you expect Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to stop the things which Jesus the Man in God Almighty, Himself spoke about–which would come to pass in this world; yes I repeat in this world of which Dominica belongs?
Elizabeth, what does all of what you said here about tribulation has to do with the fact, that preachers; people who profess to be representatives of God co-mingles with rapists, thieves, vagabonds and scamps who say they are politicians?
In the first place preachers of the word of God should not dabble into politics, because to use your very own words, “we are in this world but not of this world,” a preacher function is to teach and preach the word of God.
Instead we found them are all an immoral bunnch of people who placed themselves above all the people of the country! They look down on others while they sit on a pedestal provided to them by the people.
In Canada, and the United States, when a politician steals, and they are caught they are always indicted. We have a situation in Texas where the Governor, I believe his name is Rick Perry, still in office, nevertheless he is indicted on some criminal crime he committed while serving as Governor of Texas. They intended hoping to put him on trial while still in office.
That was postponed, in any event, if found guilty, his former status as governor will not prevent him from going to jail for the crime he committed. I Dominica, the suspicions hung over Roosevelt Skerrit’s head, instead if him humbling himself, he gets up on a political platform, and declare “no law, no constitution can prevent him from serving as prime minister of Dominica.”
Dominica is a lawless place, some politicians place themselves above the law, they may even commit murder in broad daylight, and some of our people will sacrifice their very life in order to shield the corrupt politician, from getting hung. What you are saying is total nonsense. There is no comparisons to how the political law breakers are dealt with in Canada, and the United States, and the crap we find in Dominica.

The problem you all have is you keep comparing Dominica with other countries to justify within yourselves that Dominica isn’t so bad, that the Prime Minister is doing his best when we should not be accepting wrongful doing because it happens in other countries and talking out about it, now no Country will ever be perfect but when more can be done in terms of bettering a country we should not accept it as the woes of the world but call for that change we wish to see.

No one said we should accept it–that is simply giving up, with no hope at all. But that is what too many of our people are doing–by allowing the plague of darkness and futility to grow and reproduce in their minds.

Dominicans please understand that all democratic country needs a resilient opposition one that keeps a close eye on the ruling government; this check is important to preclude corruption, to safeguard the law and most importantly to elude a dictatorship.
Lenox should be applauded for keeping the government in check, since that is the singular purpose of the opposition. His responsibility as the opposition leader is to ensure that the rule of law is maintained and the government does not abuse its powers.
I urge you all to take a small stride away from Dominican politics and take an extensive look in countries like the Middle East and certain parts of Africa where corruption and dictatorship has damage these countries beyond repair where war and farming are very much prevalent as a direct result of mismanagement, corruption, abuse of power and by most means dictatorship.
Lenox is correct Dominica needs to be rescued from mismanagement, corruption, abuse of power and by most means dictatorship. Dominica is following in the foot step of the middle eastern and some parts in Africa and if something is not done soon I am of strong belief that thing will only go downhill from there.
Dominica needs to take a page from UK, USA and CANADA, these countries place a great deal of responsibility and powers on its opposition to ensure that the government remains in check and they the people are protected.

I have never read where he commended the ruling government for a project which they undertake. I would have wished that politicians do not include political messages in their Christmas addresses but perhaps that is asking too much, besides both leaders stand equally accused. However, despite the enormous expenditure of money and importing of voters, the reality is that Mr. Linton’s Team Dominica gained considerable territory at the expense of his adversary Mr. Skerrit. Whichever way of the spectrum you stand (or maybe in the case of Dominica “divide” would be more appropriate), that is quite a performance from someone deemed a novice by the ruling side.
The way I see it, mr. Skerrit won a hollow victory and the gap is too small to speak of a clear mandate. We have ended up with a wounded and crippled prime Minister, whose ship is still afloat but rather rudderless and running out of fuel with a mutiny gathering pace below decks. Unfortunately this election is far from over and I feel the main battle is still to come. Let’s pray this can be resolved peacefully.

I have a feeling that Lennox will lose “Joshua Francis”, if he doesn’t change his mentality of anger and hatred–but that would be a bad blow for him.
Lennox does need Jesus and so does Roosevelt Skerrit. Don’t use the gospel to spread political and demonic messages in favour of a labour party government. This is wrong. By your writing you do not know the Jesus you speak of. You are backing up a government full of demonic influence against an opposition party also with demonic influence and you are using Christlike words to do so. May God have mercy on your soul and may you really find this Jesus. Think on your words and repent.

You must accept the voice of the people, the majority of Dominicans think the PM is the better choice for Dominica, and you must accept that. The DLP won Petite Savanne, Grandbay, Soufriere, Colihaut, Portsmouth, Cottage, PaixBouche, Salybia, Vielle Case, Mahaut by a large mandate. How can the devil, who is the reason we are fighting, desire that we stop it?
When we speak about Dominica, we are speaking about the Land and her people. There is no authority that can stop us, Dominicans, from climbing our mountains to swimming in her waters. No one can stop us from walking the streets of Roseau or Portmouth, and to drive our vehicles on those roads.
We use the land portions– as was left to us from our ancestors–but through obedience of the Law; for there has to be some form of conditions that we must follow.
And so, whoever is fighting, in Dominica, is not fighting for the welfare of our people and betterness of Dominica, they are fighting against the darkness of their minds–there is no victory in that kind of fight–for a mind divided against itself cannot stand! Lol!
@DC: Are you saying that when a crime is committed we should sweep it under the carpet and move on? Well then I have news for you. We the patriots and honest people,excluding you, will continue to fight for justice. I have made a lot of attempts to ignore some statements read either on face book or this blessed forum, DNO, but to no avail. Just reading mr. Linton’s Christmas message, and here I am thinking what really is his problem. Bro for God sakes, nothing is automatic in any part of the world, it is Christmas time and no body wants to entertain sad stories and that’s all you have fed at least over the past months, stop telling Dominican about where you thing we are, tell us where we should be, let a glimpse of hope proceed from your writing. In any case you are still new on the political scene, Mr. James passed the baton to you and this is an opportunity to be steadfast in your approach, but if you continue to tred the same path of whining and crying, then the only fruits you will reap is that of sorrow.
Take a positive approach to life, pray hard, consult with persons who have fought a good fight and succeeded, if you hang out with chicken, then a chicken you will be, but hang around with eagles and you will soar like them..
That’s my Christmas message to you, be firm but understand where this country should go, and run in this direction, stop looking to please the music you hear all the time, but begin to pen your own song and let the lyrics of your sound play and bless the people you desire to lead. This not a Christmas message. This is politics all over. The election is over get on with life. Christmas ought to be a time enjoyment reflecting on Jesus’s birth, not the misfortune of an election. Christ is the reason for the season.

I wish DNO would run a poll in order to compare the two Christmas Messages, Mr. Linton and the Prime Minister. In my opinion, Mr. Linton’s message has won the poll with articulation, hope, love, no excessive pride and no reproach.
