The media fraternity in Dominica expresses its deepest sympathies to News Editor at Dominica Broadcasting Service (DBS) radio, Curtis Matthew, on the passing of his father, eighty one year old, Maximea Matthew, of Morne Jaune.

Maximea passed away in the early hours of Saturday 2nd June 2012, after a prolonged illness.

We extend our condolences to the family and trust that they will find comfort in their time of bereavement.

A contingent of Dominica’s media workers will attend the funeral to be held tomorrow, Tuesday, 12th June 2012, from 2:30 pm at the Morne Jaune Catholic Chapel.

    RIP!!

“Uncle” as we all in Morne Juane knew you, my fond memories of you were of us always running after your van to catch a ride, just to reach your house and then to run back down the road. In my whole life you are someone who I could look up to as a great man. You never once shouted after any of us or said a cross word. You were hard working kind and inspirational.

Because I knew you I can see that even though I could not be there to say goodbye you will understand that myself my family and so many of my comrades who looked up to you could not be there because we are thousands of miles away. I all I can say is look at the amount of positive comments you have online, from around the world. In regards to the negative comments they mean nothing to us as they are only reacting this was as they don’t know you so we forgive them!

My condolences to your wife, Curtis, Bessie, Nicki (Iyo), Jason (Choko), Asi and all the others who were blessed to share you as a father and relative, you will be certainly missed and Morne Juane will definitely be a less warm place without the sound of the kids shouting “uncle “ as you drive past!!

Rest in peace love always Maj & Family

Deepest condolences to Curtis and his siblings and mum on the passing away of their father and husband.

I understood that due to the large numbers of people who will be attending this funeral, the service was moved to the La Plain Catholic Church. The Morne Jaune Chapel would not be able to accommodate all these people. This man had a wonderful life and a beautiful family. He will be missed.

My condolences to Curtis Matthew my personal bredren, Billy Doctrove and the entire Matthew family on the passing of his father Mr. Maximen. Ankoo, as he was affectionately called in Morne Jaune, was a big inspiration to many of us young men in the South East as a cricketer, big time farmer, builder, road work crew supervisor, musician and in many other ways. He was a good man. May he RIP.
