PHOTOS: Mudslide in Goodwill

Residents of Didier Lane in the Goodwill area woke up to a mudslide this morning.

It is reported that the slide occurred after residents felt an earth tremor at about 1:15 this morning.

There are unconfirmed reports of a 4.4 magnitude earth tremor which occurred just off the coast of Dominica at the same time of the slide.

Mud has entered the home of several residents who are now in the process of cleaning up.

With these unstabilized slopes, some of these houses above will not be around some years down the road.

I am sorry to hear and read about yet another earthquake, this time in Dominica and the damage which was caused.
Houses which are close to hills and where lands had to cut through to make roads are prone to landslides.
Let us hope that no more earthqakes occur. Pray to God for prevention and protection. He who knows best will do what He has to do and in His time.
May God bless and protect all of you!

My speculation is, consider the heat which is contained in the earth. This is what which causes an earthquake. We never know when disaster will strike.
Every country experiences earthquakes. Think of what occurred in Haiti of all.
Practice the faith. Pray! Pray! Pray to God for His protection.

You spelt the street name wrong. It is “Didier” Lane Not “Dodier”. This may be a typographical error.

My friend told me about the earthquake of last night, but I didn’t feel it.

However, I do feel the cursings, negativisms and hatred that I see in the written word of Dominicans on this medium, especially those abroad – my relatives! My friends! My loved ones! This hurts me and the majority of us more than the natural disasters.

It is said that when a man has nothing to contribute he provides critisizms, abuse and even violence – all to make himself feel relative, worthwhile, even in control. Is that the case with us?

      @ Roseau

You are generalizing. You should state, “Some Dominicans.” I have read them and feel the same way as you do.
God bless you for your enlightenment in this matter and for stating the truth.

There have been a few quakes/tremors in and around the Windward Islands the last few days…from Barbados St. Lucia and Dominica…and last week around Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.

Imagine that tremor woke me up from my bed this morning. It wasn’t long but it was strong. This was in Jimmit. In the morning I looked to see whether my pillar was cracked. We are living in perilous times!

      @ sweetpie

This is nothing new with more to come when we least expect it. Did you pray last night prior to going to bed; also when you get up in the morning? Did you thank God for the day, getting up and for health and strength? In the course of the day did you perform one act of love and mercy or a few in Jesus Name? This is something to contemplate upon. Actions speak louder than words.
