Great Pictures and the men and women in uniform made the Island proud. Just by seeing the pictures, I can say for once POLITICS was not visible. All you see is one people, one flag. Kudos DNO and thanks for providing and sharing with us as we were not able to be there – only in spirit. Let us not remember DA during this anniversary but every day and try to keep it positive.

    Dominica God hath blest thee,
With a clime benign and bright,
Pastures green and flow’rs of beauty,
    Filling all with pure delight,
And a people strong and healthy,
    Full of Godly reverent fear,
May we ever seek to praise thee,
For these gifts so rich and rare.

Did you see the pic wjth the two Bishops. What a sight to behold.. Unity is what we need and our reverence to our Creator who alone is worthy of all praise. Be thankful and Bless his Holy Name.

People we need unity in this land, we need to be thankful and be reverent to our Creator so we can receive more blessings than what we are already enjoying (Thank you Lord for all your mercies and grace and all the good things we are enjoying in Dominica. Stamp out all negativity in our land and then sow love in our hearts.

    Happy Independence Dominica.

Question: What about the North East and its culture being recognized??

I see Gloria Shillingford well dress up in cultural wear. But i must ask the question where is the Marigot and Wesley aspect of our culture featured???

Remember we do not speak patois or creole!! So where is our heritage and our peice of culture to be incorporated during independence?

    I AM DOMINICA

    • Justice and Truth
      November 4, 2011

      @ Marigotian

I do recall that people of Marigot and Wesley do not speak the French Creole language – Patois. I do think that it is high time that you learn it. I thought that I heard it is taught in the schools unlike in those days.
You are a Dominican and part of its culture. You are not left out unless you wish it. Be proud of Dominica and its culture and also the Creole language.

    • November 4, 2011

Why haven’t you learned to speak creole or patois? I really think that the folks from Marigot and Wesley alway segregated themselves from the rest of us and never made the attempt to integrate and speak the language in all the years that they have been on the Island. Were you folks hoping to go back to Montserrat? Antigua?

OOPS! MY BAD I FORGOT THE MUSIC LOVERS. THEIR COLOURFUL RED OUTFIT WAS A GREAT CONTRAST TO THE KHAKI AND GREEN OF THE SCOUTS AND A GOOD BLEND TO THE WHITE WORN BY THE POLICE. THE GOVERNMENT BAND WAS FANTASTIC AS USUAL.

    • Nature Boy

THE POLICE, SCOUTS AND CADETS PUT ON AN OUTSTANDING AND IMPRESSSIVE MILITARY PARADE. IT WAS SUCH A JOY TO WATCH THEM GO BY. THE SEA CADETS WERE LOOKING SO SMART IN THEIR SAILOR OUTFITS. I HOPE THE PEOPLE INCHARGE OF THEM WILL REALLY PUSH THEM FORWARD IN BECOMING POLICEMEN OR COAST GUARDS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORKS.

I NEVER KNEW THEIR WERE SO MANY M16 ON THE ISLAND OF DOMINICA,IS DOMINICAS’S POLICE EXPECTING A WAR. WHEN THE OPPOSITION REPORTED THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAD RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY US$5000 IN WEAPONS,THAT IS WHAT,MAYBE, THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT.ON ANOTHER NOTE,THESE PASTORS LIKE TO PLAY POLITICS AND THEN BLAME LENNOX LINTON,MATT IN THE MORNING AND ANGELO ALLEYN.I HEARD PASTOR BILL DANIELS THANKING THE GOVERNMENT,THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITIES AND FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS THAT HAVE HELPED DOMINICA AND EVEN THOUGH MR.HECTOR JOHN WAS SITTING BEHIND HIM, NOT A WORD OF THANK OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE OPPOSITON UWP PARTY.I MUST CONFESS THOUGH,SKERRIT DID ACKNOWLEDGE HIM EVEN THOUGH THEY PUT HIM (JOHN) TO SIT IN THE THIRD ROW,BUT THE MADAME SPEAKER,BISHOP OF ROSEAU AND BILL DANIEL WERE SITTING IN THE FRONT ROW WITH SKERRIT. THE MAN FROM THE ANIMAL SHOW, TONY, WAS MAYBE OGANISING THINGS BEHIND THE SCENE,AS I DIDN’T SEE HIM.

      November 5, 2011

You sound foolish….in so many ways I don’t even know how to address you. What are talking about so many guns….perlllleasee..what you thinking>> Chinese Government supplying us with endless guns and ammunition? I mean come on. Pastor praying for Government and for persons who help us… absurd. First responsibility in terms of the authority of the land.. the Bible declares that we should pray for them and trust me.. the day we stop praying for them ..chaos will occur. So the pastor has to pray for the land and the government. And next.. please find out about sitting arrangements and protocol..you will know who can sit next to each other at major national functions..then you will know where the Speaker of the House is expected to sit.

remember when the parade used to be held in different areas of d.a… well it seems that is long gone… since every parade will be held at the stadium… at least the students won’t have to stand in the hot sun like b4… remember in 90’s they had the parade in castle bruce… and look mud over our shoes… standing in the drizzle and sun…then drizzle again was really punishment… while the ministers sit under shade

Those of us who are in other parts of the world, feel a sense of assurance and more so connected and are proud to share in those sentimnents, that is still dear to our
hearts. thanks to technology and its influence in the way we all connect.

      November 3, 2011

What are you talking about. It has always been this way. It is a Military Parade – duh. There is a time and place for everything – Market Day, Creolefest, Youth day, Cultural expression – national wear etc. So today National Day = Military Parade. Remember the days when we (school children) would march past & salute the Governor Cools-Lartigue?

    • warma
      November 3, 2011

militaristic? are you kidding me? is this the first time you EVER see a country have a national parade? the 2 police and cadet corps we have parading, you calling that militaristic? I am willing to bet you don’t live in Dominica, probably in the US, Canada, England or somewhere like that – when you see their military jets fly over, and their soldiers parading, and their warships sailing during their national parades, do you jump and scream militaristic? pathetic
