Fallen trees in Eggleston

Strong winds associated with Tropical Storm Chantal lashed several sections of Dominica on Tuesday.

Below are photos taken from Giraudel, Eggleston and Castle Comfort just after the storm passed by.

Some of the photos were taken on the road to the Holy Redeemer Retreat House.

When Dominica had people working on the roads clearing drains, culvurts and cutting trees. a definite form of employment for many people we did not have so much damage on our roads.
PM take note “a form of employment”

We can mitigate a lot of the damages if we take corrective measures before the rainy season and before the hurricane season. Too much talk and not enough walk.

That’s why before the hurricane season starts, we should have clean up campaigns, tree trimming, drain clearing, to mitigate the effects of the wind and rain. That should be the work of the Councillors coordinated by the Department of Local Government and of course with funding from the state.
That’s how we show how effective we are as community people. The District Council Associations, get to work man and show your worth.

We have seen worse than that after an ordinary tropical wave has passed. However Barbados was on lock-down and they got just some rain and no one protested after the fact.

People of my “Giraudel”, you of Eggleston, and from all of Dominica, let us not forget who is in control and to cast your fears before Him instead of asking where do you go from here.

It may be that He is now beginning to pour His wrath against wickedness and evil–just make sure that you do not belong in that group; and know that you belong to the Lord, who is your guidance and protection. Through your words of prayer by sincere faith, let God’s Grace free you from the depths of deep despair.

Here is what Jesus said to us, through His disciples with whom He walked this Earth. the story is at John 16: 31-33

    (31) Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?

And so, Jesus truly and dearly wants us to accept His claims that He is the God, who is of Spirit and Truth, and that He has all Authority over the World against its wickedness, evil and unrighteousness.

    (32) Indeed the hour is coming, yes, the hour has now come, that you will be scattered, each one to his own; you will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me”.

Just as Jesus–the Man–knew that the Father lived in Him, it is the same way He wants us to know that our Life is in Him, and without Him we can do nothing. Without Jesus we could never survive the turmoil of existence in this world.

But through our weaknesses, which are the difficult circumstances of our day, through His deliverance His Strength and Authority is glorified—as long as we acknowledge that we did not do it on our own. Which is the attitude of pride and self conceit.

    (33) These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus is telling us that though we are experiencing the trials and tribulations of living in this world, if we learn how to enter the Spirit by faith, and to walk in His rest, we will know that He has already conquered every difficulty of Life on our behalf. With that knowledge we also learn to let go and let Him do His work in our Life.

Remember this old song of worship which says:

God is our help in ages past, He is our hope for years to come. God Almighty is our shelter in the stormy blast–such as that of TS Chantal–and He is our Eternal Home–whatever the day He has planned to call us home. Blessings to all!

Thank God there was no severe damage. These photos predict the roads at Giraudel, Eggleston, and Castle Comfort was in need of cleaning. Chantal gave a jump start. LET’S GET TO WORK PEOPLE.

What are your problems some ignorant Dominicans? I am from Dominica, and this is not how educated people act. Better to be safe than sorry. There is nothing wrong in preparing. Everything in life you have to prepare. Because there are little jobs, should we not go to school and further our education. We might be lucky this time, but don’t forget Dominica is in the path of most hurricanes, even tough we get it mild or strong.

Dominicans take warning. If there was not no warning you all would sing a different tune. Thank God it was a small taste of this Chantal, and see what damage it made. We might not be so lucky the next time.

Noticed that also. For some time now Matt has been coasting, as if he has lost the fervour he used to have, just padding his programme with stocking-fillers till the next half an hour advertising marathon. What used to be the “hot seat” has become decidedly luke warm. Come on Matt, we know you can do better than that. Pull your socks up and light the fire again, please.
