Pope Francis on Friday received the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Charles Angelo Savarin, who subsequently met with the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who was accompanied by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States.
A communique issued by the Holy See Press Office called the talks “cordial.”
The parties spoke about the good bilateral relations between the Holy See and Dominica, and noted the opportunity for a fruitful and mutual cooperation between the State and the Catholic Church, an institution which offers a significant contribution to the promotion of the dignity of the human person, as well as in fields such as the education of young people and offering assistance to those most in need.
In addition, they spoke about regional and global issues, in particular the protection of the environment and the issue of climate change and natural disasters, which have caused severe damage and several casualties among the population of the island.

It is a surprise that President Savarin visited the Holy Father, Pope Francis I. We had no idea about this. Of course, it should not be surprising. It was better to keep it a secret for obvious reasons.
I expect your visit was a highly spiritual one. You may not have had time to apprise the Holy Father of whatever is occurring in Dominica, especially many crimes/murders and escalating ones and such. I hope he will pray for Dominica.
One day I may write the Holy Father about certain matters and ask him to pray for Dominica and those nationals and those who create trouble in Dominica. These are in dire need of prayers so that Dominica could be restored to a safer and peaceful country of all.
Everyone should also pray. However the prayers of the Holy Father are definitely efficacious..

I am 59 years old my grand mother was a catholic and so was her mother we have put money on visiting our local church many generation will some please tell us how much money the Vatican gave to Dominica after the storm or any other time?

Actually, the expression ”a sitting pope” is not intended to be taken literally.
It is figurative language. It implies that the president was visiting a present pope, one who is currently in office, not a retired pope, or a future pope. It means the pope is sitting on ”the chair of St. Peter”, in other words he was functioning in the full authority of the papal office.

That trip is costing roughly $200,000.00 but labourites cool with that cuz it’s done by operatives of the Labour Party..

This is the second publication I’ve seen regarding this. On reading the first publication/notice I wondered what was the real purpose of the visit to the Pope (no reason was given), and for such a short time. Even after this second publication I still can’t see the essence of flying this lavish entourage to Rome. This visit may mean a lot more than meets the eye. It sounded important but with no obvious essential purpose. As technology advances and information becomes more accessible, it seems like protocol and senseless hierarchy will become less and less relevant, practical or even necessary at all. It is time our Gov’ts start putting the needs of its people first and stop adhering to remnant colonial artificial traditions which served the interests of the colonialist even more than it does the local people struggling to find daily bread..It may take a few generations to unlearn this ghastly relic of a subjugated and imposing mindset. Or did The President pay his Holiday in Rome?
You know nothing as your project. God established His Catholic Church. His Hierarchy which He approves of, for His Church and for godly mortal and spiritual reasons, will never become relevant.
Governments will pass away but not His Church and Hierarchy which are to stay until the end of time. All other churches that He did not establish will also become redundant long before the end of time.

Actually, I expect many people are wondering the same thing.
As an independent sovereign nation Dominica is not under the rule of the Vatican. However, the Roman Catholic Church in Dominica is as far as religious matters are concerned. Pope Francis is their ”Universal Bishop” so he will speak into the spiritual lives of Dominican Catholics. No doubt many will wonder why this would require a visit from the President and are hoping it was paid for by either the President himself, or the church.
I would expect this type of business would be done by the Bishop of Dominica on behalf of the church and paid for by the church.
Evangelical Christians want the Bible to speak into the lives of the nation and pray for a government that will be guided by the Word of God.

You reside in Toronto. All your Prime Ministers have visited the Pope. Obama, US President has visited the Pope. It is customary that these dignitaries visit the Pope. Their visit is broadcasted and also printed in the newspapers.
The Pope is not surprised about their visit. He expects their visits. Faithful Catholics are not surprised. Why should you be surprised, shocked and make that statement?
Furthermore, when the Canadian, US and European dignitaries visit the Pope including the Queen no one in their country object. Why should those with little, unenlightened, narrow minds in little Dominica object? Ignorance and envy are a hell of a thing.
You know that evangelical people commenced existing a few years ago. The Catholic Church and the Holy Bible are 2,000 years old. It is from this Church that all others who formed their churches got the Bible, Luther, Calvin, Henry VIII as a few examples.
