Respect for Law week observed locally

(DNO) Two law enforcement officers will be recognized later today by the Optimist Club of Roseau for their outstanding contribution in the sector.

This as the Optimist Club of Roseau, together with other Optimist clubs around the world, observes Respect for Law week during the month of May.

Respect for Law is meant to inspire respect for the law among young people and acknowledge the outstanding contribution of those charged with law enforcement.

The Optimist Club of Roseau launched the week with a church service at the Canefield Catholic Church on Sunday.

The club is also promoting safety while driving and has started its awareness campaign of no cell phone use while driving.

A no-phone zone day will be launched on June 4, 2010.
