The Roseau City Council will host its 4th annual Recognition Awards Ceremony this Saturday, September 11 at the Arawak House of Culture under the theme ‘Acknowledging and Celebrating Positive Achievements’.
Mayor of Roseau, His Worship, Mayor Cecil A. Joseph today disclosed the names of this year’s recipients, noting that there are two new categories to be presented – the Health and Wellness Award and the Mayor’s Employee Award.
The recognition awards seek to highlight individuals, companies and institutions for their efforts in shaping the city of Roseau through infrastructural development, cultural and environmental contributions. Mayor Joseph said the initiative is part of efforts to also encourage the population to invest in society.
This year’s recipients include Ross University School of Medicine, All Saints University School of Medicine and the Ministry of Health’s Promotion Resource Center. These awards will be handed out in the new Health and Wellness Award category.
This year’s Community Involvement Award will be presented by LIME to the Rotaract Club of Roseau, and Lions and Optimist clubs.
The Mayor’s Outstanding Award, sponsored by Ross University School of Medicine and the Roseau City Council, will he handed down in nine sub-categories.
For sports Emanuel Loblack will be recognized; Dennison ‘Dice’ Joseph for music; Jacinta David for culture; Samora Joseph – youth; Corinthia Blanc-Esprit – councillor; T.C. Sunbeam Pre-School – education; Ferdina Frampton – individual; and Eddison Alleyne and Dave Toulon for the Employee Administrative and Employee awards, respectively. The mayor will present these awards.
His Excellency H.E. Deng Boging will present the Roseau City Council Recognition Award, sponsored by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, to the (Education) Embassy of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; souvenir vendor Robert Jean; and company J.E. Nassief Company.
The Roseau City Council-sponsored Recognition of Managers Award will be handed to three city employees who have shown to have upheld their sworn commitment to the improvement of the Roseau City Council. The mayor will present these awards. The recipients include City Clerk Angus Benjamin; Irma Augustine, assistant city clerk; and Lincoln T. Baptiste, city overseer.
Luther R.D. Martin, a retired school teacher who still plays a notable role in the community, will also be honored with the Jean Joseph Award for Education.

Congrats SIR LUTHER i think u deserve another award on November 3rd. To many times people like u go unnoticed, and after the inevitable people say all kind of nice words they should have said while u were able to hear.
