His commendation came in the wake of a major village Cleanup and Beautification Project on August 21 organized by SEC.

“I was very impressed with the full participation of everyone, especially the youths, who demonstrated true community spirit that continues to define the people of Salisbury,” John said.

The project included weeding from the Salisbury highway to inside the village, removing debris and cleaning village drains, in addition to other odd jobs.

A wide cross section of the community from primary and high school students to the youth, young men ‘on the block’ and adults turned out for the day’s activity.

“I am hoping that the rest of Dominica will emulate the efforts of SEC, LIME and the people of Salisbury in order to keep our country clean and healthy,” John further stated.

The Salisbury Enhancement Committee expresses its gratitude to the following sponsors and supporters for contribution to the project:

Commendable effort ,hats offf to the SEC,under the guidance of Curth Charles,he sure made a difference since taking charge, communities with no village councils must form commitees to do do such and other village improvement -activities—Dominica is famous for community efforts so let us roll—–Parl Reps have thier roles and together things can move on with effective leadership—-Really hope that this is maintained and proper garbage disposal system are in place if not will be back to square ! –i know since i have been involved in many such clean-ups in my area and good work can result in wasted effort and frustration later…KEEP BAWI CLEAN”””

I’d like to take a moment here, to really express the sense of pride that just totally consumes me, when i read articles like this! You go SEC!! You guys are an inspiration to the rest of us! I would also like to take the opportunity to appeal to one and all, particularly “Salisburyans” from abroad. Please, plan on attending the reunion! This wonderful demonstration of community spirit is something to embrace! Let us do so wholeheartedly; for it is a true treasure, that will manifest itself in the lives of our youth, who are indeed our future! On a personal level, this is an opportunity for me to see alot of people that i haven’t seen in a loooong time! Do not disappoint me!!!! Thank you.
