Dominica Labour Party (DLP) Senator, Jahisiah Benoit has commended the DLP administration for its recent contribution to the Roseau South Constituency which he said has not received much attention.
Road infrastructure in communities in the constituency such as Fortune, Castle Comfort, Giraudel and Eggleston are expected to receive attention as part of 17 projects, worth $4-million, contracted on Wednesday to be done around the island.
“I must say that as a member of parliament, I am very elated to see the work of the DLP administration being brought to bear in many communities across Dominica and in this instance we see that several hamlets within the Roseau South have benefited significantly,” he told Dominica News Online (DNO) on Wednesday.
According to him, this initiative will benefit the Roseau South in three major ways.
“Firstly we will have significant improvement to road safety within the communities of Castle Comfort, Giraudel, Eggleston and Fortune. Also, we will have increased resilience to climate change,” Benoit stated. “ As you know climate change is significantly affecting communities across Dominica, and we see its impact through incidents like Tropical Storm Erika.”
He continued, “With these road works we will see that the roadway will be much safer, it will be much more resilient to the impact of climate such as change in rainfall patterns and increase pressures on the roadway itself.”
Thirdly, he stated, the works will benefit the Roseau South through the employment of skilled and young people in the communities.
Benoit said he is looking forward to engaging with the contractors to ensure that the work is done in the allocated time and, “to make sure that the communities take ownership of these projects in every way possible.”
He made it clear that, “Local contractors, contrary to what might be purported in local media of late, are being engaged by the Dominica Labour Party administration.”

The main issue in this campaign is “Has any of these Candidates being known to have engaged in any inappropriate behavior with any Minors?”
Anyone having any such information should make it be known to the Police and the Public.

The biggest problem with the Roseau South Constituency is the lack of decent housing and the need for jobs.
Sad thing about the housing crisis in Roseau South is that the vast majority of the lands are privately owned and these landowners will not sell these lands at reasonable prices to private developers like Suki much less to the Government to help improve the overall standard of living in that constituency by having a mixture of residential apartments, commercial complexes , hotels, and green spaces.
The cost to develop Roseau South is just about the same cost of building an International Airport in Dominica and most of us already know we will never see an International Airport under Skerrit as Prime Minister of Dominica.

The Giraudel-Eggleston village council got $80,000, of which $20,000 was specifically for the Flower Show.

for road works can not put a dent in the amount of repairs needed to the Giraudel/Egglestion road since the passing of TS Erika.

I will continue to say that Joshua was not on the same term with Team UWP, he sent me that message through his Christmas message in 2014–his words were : “I want to work with the government”–that was enough for me to convicted
But Joshua in other speeches with the same tone of that Christmas message; and when he did join Team UWP to walk out of the first House of Parliament Meeting–I saw with my own eyes that he was trying to stop Lennox from making that move–regardless of his denial through words; I could completely perceive his mind; my perception was CORRECT!
However, I am with Joshua, in that I believe he did the right thing. And since my village of Giraudel belong in his constituency –UWP or not, Joshua Francis or not; Roseau South is on its way to complete prosperity–let God be my witness to those words.
