Six male nationals of France have been ordered to pay $1,000.00 each following their arrest for illegal entry.

On Wednesday 27, January 2021, the men were arrested by police at Batalie for entering a port in Dominica which is not an approved port of entry.

According to a report by Inspector John Carbon, the men who are said to have entered Dominica via a yacht, anchored at Batalie and went ashore where they later dined at a business establishment.

In justifying their action, the men stated, they were traveling from Guadeloupe to Martinique and decided to overnight at Batalie on their vessel.

They were all dealt with by the health officials and were kept in custody.

The following day they were brought before the St. Joseph Magistrate Court where they pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal entry and were fined $1,000.00 each to be paid forthwith.

The men were escorted to their yacht, which was then escorted by the coast guard out of Dominica waters.

The proprietor and an employee of the establishment where the men dined, have since been taken to a government quarantine facility by the authorities.

    $1000 EC or US?
Fine the establishment owner heavily and send a strong message. 10,000 plus cases in Guada, they will infect the region.

Only $1000? This charge should be increased. $10000 is less than 400 euro

Great job of tracking and holding such characters and punishing them for their disrespect.
On another note, as an independent island , can we change the name Prince Rupert Bay to some local hero?

Leaders, please focus on building at least four mariners in Dominica ASAP. From a tourism perspective, this could lead to the promotion of local and international regattas, international divers extended stays and overall revenue from water electricity, restaurants and other local experiences. Overall, if well advertised and promoted, could have equal or better impact than an international airport. Just an idea.
