Small Dominica is Caribbean’s best-kept secret

Rainbow in Dominica

The sun beats down on my sweaty top half while my legs go numb underwater. At the far end of the shallow turquoise pool I’m standing in, yawns the cave mouth.

“Watch out for the current!” a guide yells at half a dozen tourists who make their tentative way toward the opening in the rock face. “You’ll have to fight it!”

I notice the tourists all wear flotation devices around their waists. I do not. Nor do I have a guide. Also, we only just finished lunch, which included a couple of very punchy rum punches.

very nice article without too much flare but good very account.

DDA needs to focus alot more on hikers and adventure lovers, holistic travelers; they are the ones who will appreciate our country. Why try to sell something everyone else has, when what you have is unique and different.

WE need to maintain what we have and market it differently and better.
have a properly coordinated hike fest and dive fest…few years ago there was a dive fest in Portsmouth Cabrits, mostly french nationals, try something like that again.

This “I am Dominica” campaign is old, hold a competition for people to submit marketing ideas properly packaged.

I looked at the DDA twitter page and its a joke…we need to do more

Look there are not enough tourist or people flying to Dominica to warrent an international airport -airlines wont fly if route is not profitable. Dominica is beautiful but as you say improvements are needed .

Don’t waste your breath explaining economics. Way beyond their capacity to grasp even minimally.

But due to Extremely Poor Leadership and Lack of Vision Tourist Product could be Better..
