Some 30 persons from the southern district of Dominica are now better able to assist in natural disasters following a workshop last night.
The Disaster Management Training was conducted by Disaster Risk Management Specialist Cecil Shillingford.
Participants came from the communities of Bellevue Chopin, Pichelin, Bagatelle/Fond St. Jean, Petit Savanne, Grand Bay, Tete Morne and Dubique.
Shillingfod said last night’s session looked at the effects and impact of a hazard on communities, preparing to conduct damage assessment after the impact of an event and the actual conducting of an assessment.
Shillingford said training of such magnitudes should be held in other areas in Dominica.
“This kind of training has to be ongoing. It must be continuous. I think trainings should be done all over the island,” he said.
Good job Mr Shillingford.
True and also training for CPR as well should be done.
