Tropical wave to affect Dominica

Weather map on Wednesday morning

A tropical wave, which is moving across the Lesser Antilles, will be affecting Dominica later today, Tuesday, through Wednesday.

The Dominica Met Office said moisture and instability associated with the wave is expected to generate cloudiness, showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Residents in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be vigilant.

Moderate sea conditions are expected during the next 24 hours with swells peaking near 8.0 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

Another westward moving tropical wave, located in the Central Tropical Atlantic, is expected to approach the area by Saturday.

DNO will continue to monitor the weather situation and publish updates as they become available.

I wish Dominicans well and for your protection. The weather pattern in these times is more dangerous than ever before.
If you heard the Canadian news, Calgary, Alberta is swamped with water. A lot of rain caused it. The downtown area is really bad. For days Calgarians were not allowed downtown. Consider the loss of property and business.
I heard that approximately 4 people died. Thousands of people were evacuated from their homes. Some stayed at friends or relatives; others at a government designated shelter.
Last evening I was writing a comment on DNO Website. Apparently it was raining. I did not hear thunder or lightning. All of a sudden I heard a loud noise, “PAX!” It sounded like a bomb going off. All lights, computer and TV went off. I feared that it would have affected the computer and TV. Fortunately, both have a power- surge outlet. Otherwise, the computer and TV could have blown off. This was an experience.
The lights came on later but while sleeping the lights went out again. The microwave and stove lights were blinking. This is when it was realized that the lights went out again. Some areas, office buildings in downtown Toronto were affected.
Yesterday I heard that a high rise apartment building was without electricity for four days. Imagine living in a high rise and on top floors with no electricity and elevator. Most of those buildings do not have an emergency elevator. When the lights go off, the elevator stops.
For Toronto? Hydro said that they have more electrical supply than they need and are giving some away to the US. I must telephone the MPP in my area about that.
We are experiencing a heat wave from yesterday and today. It is humid. The weather forecast for Thursday and Friday is rain which will somewhat cool the temperature; probably not for long. We have been anticipating warm weather for a while. We had cool and rainy days.
Well, we must pray to God for his protection. May all of us, wherever we reside be protected from stormy weather, floods and other weather-destructive elements. God’s blessing!

You believe in him and have faith that He will help. However, you must pray to him and ask him for his protection. He wants us to pray for our needs.

In as much as we are aware that the hurricane season started on June 01st, the onus is on us to exercise extreme caution in safeguarding our lives and property. Stock adequate dry supplies and drinking water, ascertain whether your home is secure enough to weather a storm; if not, please find out where the shelters are in your area. Stay updated on the current weather report and news. Remember, your life and that of your family is most important; do not endanger yourself by complacence and ignorance. Stay safe!

Now we know the changing weather systems as tropical waves. Before we use to relate the weather changes to the moon phases, Full Moon, first quarter or last quarter rains. Now we know differently.

We are developing indeed. A’in it it! We can now use the technology to inform ourselves.
