TS Gonzalo forms east of Leeward Islands; no warnings/watches for Dominica at this time

weather map

The area of disturbed weather associated with a tropical wave has developed into Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

At 1:30pm, the center of Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 16.4N, longitude 58.4W or about 200 miles east northeast of Dominica.

‘Gonzalo’ is moving towards the west near 10mph with maximum sustained winds of 40mph.

Watches and Warnings have been issued for the islands to the north of Dominica.

However, Dominica has not been placed under a watch/warning at this time.

Regardless, shower and thunderstorm activity are likely across Dominica and residents in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to exercise extreme caution.

Fisher folks should be vigilant.
