UWP pleased with US security assistance; expresses concerns over crime

The United Workers Party takes this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to the Government and People of the United States of America for their continued support to people of the Commonwealth of Dominica and most recently for their substantial assistance in beefing up our national security capabilities.

The generous gifts of two new sea patrol boats, training for our enforcement officers, purchase of equipment and the much needed focus on our state prison facility will forever be treasured. We are also of the firm belief that these will go a long way in protecting our borders and reducing the trafficking of drugs and other illegal activities within and outside of our shores.  It will as well, assist the nation in bringing under control other white colour crimes on island.

Further we ask the rest of the citizenry to join us in the condemnation of the apparent increase in criminal activities on island. We are of the opinion that now is a good time, approaching the presentation of the 2012/ 2013 budget, for this Labour Party Government to respond to the U S Government’s initiative, by allocating funds for investigation into the plaguing passport issue and also to seek much needed assistance from external entities in seeking to solve the number of crimes which are still of great concern to this nation; crimes  such as the firebombing of the home of Mr GON Emanuel in December 2010.

We are also concerned with what appears to be an intentional avoidance by this government to engage in any form of discussion to address crime on island.

A letter of March 22, 2012 from the Prime Minister’s office informed  Members of the Parliament of a series of community meetings as an initiative of cabinet on “Crime, violence and anti social behavior.” Seventeen  sessions were scheduled island wide to climax on 11 June 2012. However to our greatest surprise only two of these activities have been held.

In another letter dated 6 May 2012 we were invited by the Interdenominational Committee on Crime and Violence to engage in a discussion with Government on a number of issues to include “our investigations into steps that may be taken to prevent social and economic instability in the future.” Once again the government avoided this opportunity.

This trend brings into serious question, government’s commitment to tackle the issue of crime in Dominica.  The lack of interest demonstrated by cabinet to address crime at such crucial time is alarming.

all these donations from the united states are positive but when you look deep its to make sure caribbean islands stay in poverty. America will never contribute a dollar towards education nor medical but they alway ready to keep a dollar out of poor people’s pocket. Its always something to do with drugs , the same drugs they legalizing in small quantities

” The United Workers Party takes this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to the Government and People of the United States of America for their continued support to people of the Commonwealth of Dominica and most recently for their substantial assistance in beefing up our national security capabilities” (UWP).

Thank people and Government of United States for what?

How many people of the United States know there is some political party called UWP existing, how many ever heard the name Dominica!

It is in the interest of the DEA, and such security agency’s in the United to help in securing the boarders of the islands of the Caribbean in order to help curtail the amount of illegal drugs entering the United States from the Caribbean region.

Such organization do not give handouts for thanks from political parties; they do it in the interest of the United States, and not to boost the ambitions of any political party.

The vessels we receive as gifts are to also help the United States in the war on drugs, it is not so much to help Dominica, since all of the islands in the Caribbean basin will eventually receive the same!

I really cannot beleive I am reading that U.W.P is thanking the US government for donating two boats to Dominica just to continue to condemn the government for everything that is wrong in the country, but never once thank the chinese government for all what they have done for Dominica in the last 7-8 years. The chinese give us a state of the art stadium,A brand new bridge in Roseau and upgraded road to portsmouth in addition scholarship for our student plus much more i cant remember, right now a brand new colledge and state house is also being buildt by the chinese with a low interest loan.I think the chinese has done enough for Dominica and the party next in line call the U.W.P fail to say thank you but is saying thank you to the U.S.A for giving us boat for what.shame on the U.W.P if you want me to support you,you must let us know where your interest is cause right now all i can see is if God forbid you win the next election you will have no interest in china regardless of all what they have done for Dominica.I’m Listening

  7. truth must prevail.
    June 8, 2012

Giving thumbs down to truthful statements , for example, “investigation seem stalled in the heinous firebombing criminal acts” would not erase the fact that someone or some people wanted Mano and his wife, as well as the police officer, killed. It is a fact, those people were firebombed. Thumbs down as much as you all want. Dominicans know why.

So those whose job it is to thumb down the truth means they are scared to hell of the truth. They can’t stand the truth. they are scared what might happen to those friends of theirs in ‘high places. So no case. They are hoping the elders would soon die and so case would close. Not so nuh? God is not a policeman.

The truth is like a thorn in the side of those who support illegal acts, corrupt practices, especially in Public office or heinous crimes.

Convince me that the Rubbish bin and fertilizer scandals never happened. And it wasn’t some poor Malayway who just went to committ the acts. In the firebombing, we heard from the confession that $$$$$$ was paid. The confessor to the crime was short-changed. He was mad that he was not paid all his money to do the crime.

Where is ‘Seco’ “Secko” nuh? When is he coming back to Dominica to clear his name? Dominicans were told by the Chief of Police that he was a person of interest in the firebombing crime? so he is no longer of interest?

Those offended by those factual statements, drown in your support of criminals and their abominable actions. Your time might be just around the corner and you’ll wish the criminals are caught. You will be bawling for investigations.

Time will tell. Run from the truth, but none of you could hide from the truth. Even though you all twist or turn the truth, it will remain the truth. Truth must live on forever, but no lie could live forever. Those criminal acts will not go away. Trust me. The Nature Isle brand cannot be about supporting criminals and their crimes. it is too plain to see where dominica is heading.

Why is America offering only military aid world wide,if we really need maritine assets, instead of coast guard ships, why not refigerated ships to help transport our agriproducts. In terms of controling crime did Mr James request the assistance of the US authorities in locating and sending back the former UWP leader who has a lot to answer.

Another thing we are a people who are so bent to hand out that when we get a gift without strings we dont know how to say THANK YOU but I would like to say to my people we in NORTH A’ICA are the ones who will suffer from you all stupidity remember that, and their are so many issues out there that should cause this GOVT to be removed from power.

The investigations into the most horrific, horrible, abominable crime on island, the firebombings of Emanuel, and his wife and the police Officer, attempts at killing those people, have been stalled. Forensic report gives instructs on what all Dominicans already know. Waiting still for what? For electronic analysis report? After that something eles to wait for. Hmmmm, Whose fools are we?

Judicial Review given in the case Emanuel vs. Isidore? 42 charges including fraud and other criminal, illegal acts filed by Emanuel against Isidore is not serious enough for at least a preliminary hearing in the Courts?

The Court’s Order/warrant, sent earlier to the Police Dept. to arrest the lawyer, was blatantly disobeyed? And even so, The Court did nothing about that disrespect for the Law?

Up till now, that case cannot even begin? It is alledgedly, a few ‘Big Wigs scared to the bone.’

What about the sales of our passports and diplomatic immunity, until some with reputable dealings end up with our diplomatic passports. Even though Dominicans demand transparency and accountability or plead to stop that programme of selling D/ca passports, to no avail. Dominica’s name is tarnished. Millions are being made.

White Collar crimes. who are involved? Who in Power, with Power cares about curbing crime? their actions speak much louder. Some in ‘High Places’, the ‘Cabal’, the ‘Elite’ will do anything to influence the institutions responsible for bringing justice to their ilk or friends. Plain to see. No Law, No Constitution could prevent some of those ‘Big Wigs’ from doing what they want.

Why was the Police Station at Anse-de-Mai closed down? To stop drug activities? Who arrested the businessmen for disobeying Planning Division directives? what about the villas, The rubbish bin and fertilizer bobols? What about…… I could go on and on to show the renegade trend.

On a serious issue like crime the UWP rather than show Dominicans what they would or will do if they are in power, selfishly highlight GON Emanuel case hoping to gain political mileage.

Re the two sessions held regarding “Crime, violence and anti social behavior,” Can the UWP tell us how they contributed and what the follow up in these communities will be. They seeem to think that life is a talk show but governance like we know is real.

The Interdenominational Committee on Crime and Violence rather than set up another talk shop needs to give us 5 to 10 point plan on addressing these issues.

    • Frenz
      June 8, 2012

So you want UWP to tell your government how to solve crime. What are you smoking? It would serve you laborats much better to shut up than to give credence to the perception that laborites are generally ignorant and stupid. Everybody knows that poverty , unemployment and corruption is the breeding ground for crime. You can create your 10 point plan or higher whatever consultant you want if your lame government cannot manage poverty and does not eliminate corruption in high places without crime will continue to escalate. Your corrupt government cannot clean ip the corrupt police for obvious reasons. Now check whether or not the opposition have been talking about corruption, poverty, unemployment.
