Danielle Williams – the ex-porn star from the US for coming to Dominica and spreading the gospel, relating her story as an ex-porn star via the local media, providing counselling and assisting sexually and physically abused youth. As a result of her visit, more at-risk youth are opening up about their situation, criminal investigations are underway and discussions continue on the revelations that were revealed.

Rhoda St. John – the Regional Executive Director of Generation of Opportunities who facilitated the visit of Danielle Williams and worked along side her to reach out to at-risk youth. She continues to work with local authorities though Williams has already left.

Edison James – the former prime minister’s  announcement at a United Workers Party (UWP) public meeting in Lagoon on January 17 that he uncovered a plot to assassinate him created not only made big news, but several developments in which Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit offered him security which James refused and government ministers bashing the UWP president for trying to make an impression.

What is so difficult – vote for one of the five nominees.

If your person of choice is not listed and you dont agree with the five nominees, then refrain from voting.

Why make a drama out of everything.

Anyway, it looks like there is a clear well deserving winner.

Dominicans must learn to read thoroughly. The article is clear regarding the personalities that had an impact, sparked debates or rather controversial in nature. This article reflects those who were influential in January 2010. I do not see why people fail to read thoroughly or it seems that amongst our Dominican populace their comprehension skills are very poor.

you need to read thoroughly because you still in 2010 when every one else is in 2011

I just find that we insist on choosing persons who are “quote and quote” big boys and girls in society. there are little people out there who are making a difference expecting nothing in return. Putting a list of names does not make sense, allow the people of the communities to decide because we are the ones that are being impacted. What have Ms. Williams done for the people of Dominica…please……a farmer a teacher a mother could be the choosen one……so am not voting

      and I quote:

Some people on DNO also quick to comment and never quick to take the time to read and comprehend what is written!!

DNO you appear to be going down the road that most of your loggers take. If you are putting up a list of men/women to be personality of the month in my opinion you should put in people who have positively influenced the citizen of the country. We should not just do things to creat controversy thereby increasing patrons but looking mediocre to our competitors in the region. How did Eddison James’ situation influence us?

PLEASE RE-READ: After each month, DNO will give the public the chance to vote for persons who have made a positive impact or whose actions have triggered national debate, issues, prompted officials to action and/or have sparked a media frenzy.

Why did Time magazine chose Osama Bin Laden as a figure of the year? It’s about IMPACT! And the disclaimer above clearly stated so.

Thank you for taking the time and patience to explain. Sometimes we do forget to read properly, and to pick up the basic theme. We really need to remember, that is important. But I cannot decide whom I should vote for; maybe I won’t vote.
