thanks wia pilot
@concerned:
They are using the Jetstream 32 aircrafts.
@Declare The Word:
Approx half the price of LIAT.
@THUNDER HORSE:
LIAT does not own ANY shares in Winair.
Winair is owned fully by the Government of the Netherlands Antilles and has nothing to do with LIAT.
And in Antigua, the company that handles Winair handles LIAT as well, so the gate is the same. But they are two completely different companies.
And as far as Antigua goes, there is ONE boarding gate. One big room. No assigned gates.
@YeahISaySo:
They are using the Jetstreams on this route.. I don’t know why the reporter say that it is the Twin Otter.
The Jetstream will get you to St. Lucia from Dominica in approx 30 mins.
ADMIN: Note this is a press release.
@THUNDER HORSE:
Hope you tell your St Lucia friends the same thing.
The St Lucian Tourism Minister (Chastaness, sorry about spelling) went of their way, to lambast LIAT and PAID American Eagle to compete with LIAT on Barbados to St Lucia routing.
@monti:
Say Dominicans want to fly to St Lucia and back on same day:
With WinAir it is simple:
Melville Hall to Vigie (45 minutes flying), Vigie to Melville Hall (45 minitues flying), no problem.
With LIAT it is not simple:
Dominica to Antigua (seat for a few hours) and then onto St Lucia or Dominica to Barbados (seat for a few hours) and then onto St Lucia.
Where ever Dominicans want to go in the region (other than Antigua), LIAT makes sure you seat in VC Bird for a few hours, before flying onto your destination.
It maybe a small plane, but the scheduling and time spent travelling is far better than what LIAT is currently offering Dominicans to those same destinations.
The issue here is Win Air and not LIAT, This experience will allo Dominicans to know that during inclement weather conditions, missing baggage and Ticketing limitations that Airlines have policies in place to protect themselves.
There is no competition for LIAT here as LIAT is one of the major share holders in Win Air right now, think you can get rid of LIAT think again.
When you go to Antigua who boards Win Air? At whose gate do you board Win Air?
@YeahISaySo: Trust me the other airlines are afraid of Dominicans, because you guys talk alot of bull when you go Antigua and Barbados thats the reason why its only small planes can service the island, you guys need to face reality and it need more airlines to delay and cancel services, miss luggage to dominica for you all to see how much you all will miss LIAT. wAKE UP AND SMELL THE BUSH TEA, ALL YOU BAGS WILL BE MISSING ON WIN AIR AND LIAT WILL HAVE TO BRING THEM UP FOR ALL YOU.
@jane: When all you Government becomes share holder for LIAT then LIAT will work for all you, tell me how much did you all invest in LIAT rather than bad talk the airline with all you serpent mouths. Dominicans are wicked evil people who dont believe in supporting their own, thats why the more the other airlines see how all you react in antigua and barbados the more you make them have second thoughts but time will come when winair will see all you true colours.
@elizabeth xavier: You guys need to understand that LIAT is not the problem, when the weather in Dominica gets nasty you must offload extra weight and sometimes cancel the service, until another airline does it, you guys will never understand how difficult our terrain and wxeather systems affect travel, read your books and smell the bush tea.
where that plane going, melville Hall to Canefield, fear enough at least plp from marigot can get to town faster
@monti: take allu time allu dominicans tooo like to rush…if is that they have for the time deal with it. Allu just like to criticize every little thing
The plane is a 19 seater . I live in the Bvi and I will ride it anytime. The fairs are much cheaper than liat round trip from the BVI to Dominica . Their ticket from BVI to Dominica is $300 and change compare to liat $400 and counting. So stop complaining and try to work with what you can get to save some money .
@Anonymous: I totally agree; instead of moving forward, we are moving backward. What small plane is that – come on; if your going into business – strart big. Why would ppl want to travel on these small planes – this is sooo old skool. Invest in a few larger planes…….. your return might be bigger.
What happened to night landing?
According to arrivals data at Melville Hall, WINAIR are using a Jetstream (19 seater) aircraft for these services.
So this articule may need updating, in regard aircraft type.
The only thing I find strange with that twist, is that the more they open the airport and make it bigger, the smaller the aircraft, I mean watching the little plane in the sky makes me wonder is that the best we can do. When we get serious about comfort and convienience for the Dominican traveler and we make a major improvement in these fascilties and can enjoy a boein 737 on the island we will definitely see an influx of tourist come to this country. That small plane looks like a little private craft for the indiscrimating traveler,don’t you think? This is not appealing for the many who just hate to but have to fly, more over, if there are no bathroom fascilities do we have another problem. Let’s go for a 737 let us just try next time.
If there is a difficult conflict between Liat and Dominica, as Dominicans, we have to settle for what we have, pending the resolve of that conflict.
It is possible that the numb-skull mind in the head of Liat organization do not realize that people will survive by the hook or by the crook. And Dominica will come to survive without their service, if that is what they want.
Right now we do not need a Liat Office in Dominica to book and confirm our travelling business. After all of these decades of working with Liat, there must be people in Dominica who can run a travel office; to employ people and make money for themselves. Today all we need to do is to work the computer and the Internet. With Laptops we do not even need an office, as long we make sure that our clients get the information they need.
Perhaps the pressure we have from Liat is because they think we are too weak to help ourselves. We have to learn to stand up on our own feet. We are smart enough to do it. Or Dame Eugenia Charles was not our Prime Minister.
We simple need to exercise patients and harmony, to allow development to happen gradually. For now, if we have to PEE-PEE before we go that other airplane, just remember to do that. Pray, pray, and pray again, that God is guiding us to work things out, including the cost of travelling.
Time for the market to open so Liat can start respecting their passengers once again with customer service and air fares. To the travellers who r not sure whether they would like to fly in such small aircrafts they should also realise that the LIAT air fares will definitely drop.
Ok I see the flight times, so what about the airfares?
THEIR PLANES JUST FLY SWEET. JUST THAT U HAVE TO PIPI BEFORE U GO ON CAUSE THERE ARE NO WASHROOMS LOL
so wat about the jetstream aircrafts they were boasting about…. why arent they doing these flights instead??…. why are they using the twin otters???
Is about time and please be stable because I cannot take in more Liat’s b*********
NOT ME ON THOSE LITTLE SKY PIPWI- SORRY
thats a good thing for the Nature Isle.we need all that and more, its time to open the Night Landing.
