The Dominica National Lottery (DNL) says it is proving that there are no boundaries as to who can participate in their games as the first Super 6 win for 2021 was presented to a Haitian national residing in Dominica.
Jacky Volcy, age 33, who has been resident in Dominica for the past 2 years, was on Monday presented with his jackpot winnings of $442,650.00.
Volcy, who is an employee of Jungle Bay Resort and who resides in Castle Comfort, said the winning not only belongs to him but also to his friend as they teamed up to purchase the ticket at Mc-Millian Gas Station in Castle Comfort on January 29, 2021.
On the day of the draw, the jackpot was $440,100.00 but their jackpot-winning ticket included a match five and 2 match four winnings increasing their winning by $2,500.00.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the elated winner said he plans to make good use of the money and he and his friend will decide between them how the money will be divided.
In congratulating the winner, Sales & Marketing Manager of DNL, Ken George, encouraged other nationals to partake in the games stating, “…as long as you can buy your ticket legal tender, you are qualified to play and to win.”
He added, “So I would like to encourage all other nationals who reside in Dominica that you too can play our game and there is absolutely no restriction as to you when you win regardless of all the speculation that we hear about.”
Earlier this month, 29-year old Shalda Corbette a school teacher from Atkinson in the Kalinago Territory was the first PowerBall Jackpot winner of the DNL for 2021 .
Corbette won $95,619.00 from the game which is played only in Dominica.

Thank god for his blessing. Don’t let them befriend you now
Watch Dominican woman suddenly develop an affinity for a certain Haitian man.

All the dislikes for my post is from all those women who thought about shay-shaying the man new pocket. We all know all you type.
Is obeah he making – I want to see some of those iggy comments on facebook and probably here. Let me congratulate Mr. Volcy from the bottom of my heart! My brother, no one knows your life story. That trip to Dominica, no matter what perils you may have faced before, is a tremendous blessing.
Yes, Anansi. I congratulate this man. I am sure that he needs this much-needed cash.
Put it to good use our Caribbean brother.
Yes so I say – Caribbean brother. Haiti was in the forefront for Caribbean emncipation.
Toussaint L’Overture!
Next note remember when we had the Tomians digger boots bell bottom partners our family in St Thomas working and sending US$ to their family back in Dominica. Also the Pounds from our Family in the UK/
Pas jamais loublier!
the government should have the necessary policy in place that any none national that wins any lottery in Dominica should be subject to heavy taxation, similar to what the USA does.
You are just jealous
…and so says the person who, presumably, doesn’t pay a cent in taxes in Dominica. You are full of it man! No doubt a Skerrit supporter…
The US does now have any such law in place. Anyone who can lawfully play the lotto here and win has the same tax laws applied to the winnings. If he is a legal resident, and spends the same amount of money to play as a local would spend, why should he be taxed more?
Should have read “does not have any such laws in place”

“Depending upon state rules, your immigration status does not matter for collecting lottery wining. You are just taxed at a higher percentage than GC/citizens. It is a passive income, and you can collect gambling or lottery winnings without any issue.”
