In front of the appreciative student body and staff of the Castle Bruce Secondary School and representatives from the office of health promotion, the Castle Bruce Health District recently brought down the curtains on their Caribbean Wellness Month Activities with a Mini-play called “SLIC and Bubbling.”
The script was written by Dr. Velda Wade and was produced by the Castle Bruce Health Team and students of the drama class of the Castle Bruce Secondary School.
The mini-play showcased the cross generational effects of diabetes on families and especially young persons, their journeys through the challenges and subsequently resolutions on chronic non communicable diseases.
The mini-play provided great insight into the perception of the youth on diabetes and gave them an opportunity to publicly display their point of view and ideas in managing diabetes.
Students – Nyoka Dubique, Marelda Andrew, Julienne Ferguson, Stephanie Prevost, Aldean Scotland and Merlisha Seraphine, are some of the featuring actors.
The play was part of a series of activities organized by the health district to observe the month.
See photos below of the different activities.
