CIBC assists in cancer fight

Vinna Royer of the Dominica Cancer Society (right)  receives check from Rhona Lawrence of CIBC

CIBC First Caribbean International Bank has come to the aid of the Dominica Cancer Society in its quest to assist those suffering from cancer.

Earlier this week the bank presented a check of $3,375 to the society.

In making the presentation,  Rhona Lawrence, Business Support Officer of the Bank, said the money represented amounts collected from the bank’s staff during a walk for cancer cure organized by the society earlier this year. She said that amount was matched by the bank.

The donation also included an additional sum provided  by the bank.

Lawrence said that this was just the beginning since the bank hopes to make the walk an annual event.

President of the Dominica Cancer Society, Vinna Royer, thanked the bank for its support and said the cash will go a long way in assisting people who had to go overseas for cancer treatment.

She disclosed that so far this year, the Society had sent twelve people overseas for treatment at a tremendous cost to the organization.

Royer said that she was looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the CIBC.
