A group of medical professionals from the Caribbean Medical Mission are offering free medical care to the Dominican public commencing today.
Portsmouth native Bernard Sylvester, who is also the Vice President of the Dominica Emerald Organization of New Jersey, said several medical professionals are part of the team.
“We have dentists, heart specialists, two primary care doctors, two eye specialists, pediatricians,” he said.
Services will commence in Portsmouth today and move unto Castle Bruce on Wednesday and Roseau on Thursday and Friday.
“It’s not only opened to those districts but anyone who feel they need these services,” he said.
Sylvester said the event could become annual.

I note the initiative but I often suspected that many Dominicans living abroad are out of touch with what’s happening in Dominica.
Dominicans already receive “free” healthcare. Today, every nook and cranny of Dominica is already served by medical professionals. Furthermore, these physicians mentioned above are available in D/ca (with the exception of the heart specialist”) at little ($5.00)or no cost. Anybody can take a walk to a health centre here and get free service. You can even get free medication! All paid for by the State.
Come on already!!
If you are going to bring “free” healthcare, bring some specialists that we have in short supply, not what we already export. Thanks in advance.
Don’t kick a gift horse in the mouth. With all that you have mentioned People still die in DA everyday from things that are out patient treatments in other countries like the US. The doctors we have a very good, they just don’t have the opportunity to see as much cases our use the latest techniques and technology. Don’t kick a gift horse in the mouth. Just say Thank You. Too much healthcare cannot be a bad thing. Plus it is for free… My God!!!
To say dont kick in its mouth is just crazy. Black people have a history of not kicking gift horses in the mouth and look where it has got us. Just because something is free or a gift means it be good. Perhaps while kicking this gift horse in the mouth may more of us will start kicking that chinese gift horse in the mouth before its tooo late
