Minister for Health, Julius Timothy, is in St. Vincent and the Grenadines attending The Council of Health Ministers Meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
The meeting is essential as Ministers will seek to develop a comprehensive strategy to help mitigate emerging viral diseases, particularly, Chikungunya and Ebola.
Various regional and international agencies will be engaged to develop urgent and innovative strategies to combat the spread of these debilitating diseases. Minister will also discuss the World Paediatric Project which provides medical assistance for children from the region in the United States.
Mechanisms to expand the project to serve more children in the OECS will be explored.
Ministers will also discuss the annual work programmes of the OECS Pharmaceutical Procurement Service, which is responsible for the procurement and management of medical products for the OECS public health sector.
OECS Director General Dr Didacus Jules will also address the meeting.

From several news articles on Caribbean 360 news, more and more countries are placing a ban on visitors coming from Ebola infected areas. So far those named are Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobage, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Guyana and Suriname. Suriname did not host the summit of the ACP (African, Caribbean & Pacific)countries that was scheduled to be held there in September.
Another nurse who took care of Duncan in the US is now infected. Someone who may have handled body fluids from the said case (Duncan) is in self-imposed quarantine on a Caribbean cruise.
Come on now, are we that blind and stubborn that we want to put our population at risk???

Yes that’s good. I hope at that meeting all health ministers are advised that all activities and carnival should be postponed as a proactive measure to sought to keep the disease out, allow medical personal to contain the disease and effectively put it back to rest, like they did with ANTHRAX.

Hello and good evening my people. Well Mr Timothy you suffered a minor stroke and you left Dominica to seek medical care. Last week you told us that our country is prepared for Ebola but even the great America which has some of the world best hospitals and Doctors can’t handle Ebola. I am praying for our country, citizens and hoping that no one bring that to our country because I know our medical system isn’t prepared. When you address OECS Health Ministers can you please tell them what plans you put into place in Dominica since you are so prepared for Ebola. I want to be assured that our citizens are safe because I am coming home for the Fest and Independence.

Timothy, I must throw this in your face. Last week you made the claim that you and you government and the medical establishment in Dominica are fully prepared to treat, and deal with Ebola when it arrives in Dominica.
No need for me to insult you by saying your thoughts are that of a confounded puppet of Skerrit. Be informed Timothy, a second nurse in Texas he treated the African who died have now become ill with Ebola. Mind you Timothy, both nurses who treated the victim wore what was supposed to be protective attire. You see how stupid one can make themselves appear when they set out to deceive the public politically.
Skerrit instructed you to make that stupid comment to DNO, to impress Dominicans that you all are above it, your medical system is more advanced than that of the United States. Everyday since the death of the man in Texas, those of us living in the United States are told daily ” the medical establishment ” in America” is not prepared for Ebola; but interestingly enough you and Skerrit are fully prepared for this disease so much so that Skerrit best defense is to discriminate against the Nigerian band that was supposed to perform in Dominica in the interim.
The worst part of it all the African now residing and studying in Dominica are subject to discrimination perpetrated by our people, all of this started when Skerrit declared the Nigerian Band persona non grata to Dominica! When you return to Dominica we will hear you have produced a cure for Ebola, Aids Cancer, and all the diseases of which there is no cure.

Tim Tim, you are my very good friend; but to be honest with you if DA was a real country either you would resign or be fired for your Ebola statement last week. To see you get rewarded with a ticket to attend the OECS Health Ministers meeting is jus pathetic. My TV is now on CNN and they are saying “US hospitals are NOT ready for Ebola” after a second nurse was infected. To hear you say that Dominica is ready to deal with it is just very embarrassing, disturbing and misleading and for such, you should resign or get fired.

I’m sure Timothy will not venture at this meeting to make this grand pronouncement he made last week to Dominicans, that his ministry of health was prepared for Ebola and he and Helene Royer had successfully treated Chikungunya. My point is, if this is so, then this is an ideal opportunity to let the region and the world know about your successes. If he does not seize the opportunity to do so, then we know what most of us knew at the time was a disingenuous and very reckless statement by the minister. Politic is very seductive and it is very clear that Timothy has been seduced.
