Hector John, former MP for Salisbury, has publicly addressed the police’s recent attempts to search his residence following his participation in a protest advocating for electoral reform. In a radio interview, John vehemently denied allegations made by National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore, who suggested that John instigated the blockage of the E O Leblanc Highway this morning.
John recounted a distressing encounter at his home late last night when police attempted to forcibly enter his property.
“They traumatized my son when they came in around 8:30 PM, banging on the door and trying to break in. I went live on Facebook, and they ran,” he explained, indicating that the police have not returned since that incident.
The former MP expressed his concerns for his family’s safety and criticized the police’s tactics, stating, “What Mr. Blackmoore was saying didn’t happen. I think what the police did caused the situation to escalate. Nobody wants that.” He said one of the police officers attempted to gain entry with a knife, and described another man armed with a high-powered assault rifle who was hiding on his porch.
In response to Blackmoore’s allegations, John stated, “I was there for some time but left early due to feeling unwell. They see me as a target, as a scapegoat.” He said that he would not be intimidated and indicated that he had begun to inform international human rights organizations about the situation, recalling a similar incident in 2019 that had also drawn attention from the Human Rights Committee in Geneva.
John urged his community to remain calm and not to react violently to the ongoing tensions.
“I will advise my community and others to stay home and lie low,” he said, while also reaffirming his commitment to standing up for what he believes in. “A real man stands for something; if you stand for nothing, you fall for anything,” he stated.
John expressed gratitude for the support from his community and the international community.
“I will not let anyone intimidate me. I have my principles and values, and I will continue to stand for my country,” he affirmed.
At the time of publishing of this article, the police had removed the roadblock but there was still a law enforcement presence in the village ostensibly to ensure that the road remained open.
Almost everything was on camera, the pulling down of the barricades was seen by all and many were seen dragging the barricades. A gentleman boldly faced the camera and called on persons with dampers to bring in stones even directing where the stones should be placed. Yet with all this happening we still hear political hypocrites talking about peaceful deemonstration. The plan was to enter the parliament and cause confusion fortunately the police was able to stop the plan, and now we have talk of police brutality. Salisbury people believe that Dominica belongs to them and they have the right to block the public whenever they choose it is time for this nonsense to stop, it is only in Dominica that this rubbish can happen.
bossman, if you are so solid and strong and concerned for your family, do the honourable thing and surrender to the Police, whom you know are looking for you. Go with your lawyer and your pastor, if you wish, but right now you look like any big-mouthed coward.
Shame, shame shame on Marigot and the rest of the communities in Dominica, for not standing in solidarity with the community of Salisbury. Salisbury alone cannot liberate Dominica. I have never since such hypocrisy and ignorance. Some of you blame Salisbury for standing up for their rights, your rights. Right to free and fair election, price control, better health service, better infostructure, employment for the young men and women and most importantly protecting and maintaining your Democracy. How else to voice their frustration and concerns when Roosevelt, a compulsive liar, a law breaker, “NO LAW NO Constitution’ prostituting the law of Dominica FAILS to listen to the people. No transparency with his deals with China, like its not OUR DAMM Business? Ahhh, Dominicans since when you became so weak, beggars selling your freedom, your Democracy for handouts, $300. SHUT DOWN THE DAMM COUNTRY and liberate DOMINICA, else loose it and then you will understand the TRURE value of…
Spaggs i am with you and the Salisbury people 100%.
Remember Skerrit thinks there should be no opposition. His goons in the police force which by now should bee 99.99999% Parl Rep police, are carrying out his dirty work to accomplish just that.
Dont forget the NUMEROUS attacks on honourable Linton when he was in opposition. It’s a pattern to attack those that they hate.
When the head is dirty and corrupt, it trickles down to the police. A corrupt leader can only last with the support of a corrupt police force. That’s what we have on island; ill disciplined MORONS,badly trained, foolish, stupid ,dumb, cannot communicate, etc.
You all saw how a senior officer dealt with one journalist while paying blind eyes to 2 others?. That’s the type of leadership the police force has. A guy who garbles the English language more than Skerrit himself. A political fool dressed in black.
Well done Salisbury!
I stand with Salisbury!
Power to the Salisbury People
it’s a situation where the Evil one sold himself to do wrong like Cain, who killed Abel, and in other to cover his evil, the Evil one had to single handedly look for weak, greedy , and vulnerable candidates that he could pay and corrupt to keep him safe. So every minister of the Evil one, if is not for the office they hold would be behind bars for transgressions and to ensure the Evil one is secured he promoted weak, greedy and vulnerable police officers that he could pay and corrupt and the same with the judiciary so they could all keep him safe. Then he pays and delivers handouts to greedy, weak and vulnerable supporters so they could vote him, whether they reside here or abroad and together they have all formed a solid team of greedy, weak, vulnerable and corrupt entity and their. only agenda is to go after those that don’t support their corrupt agenda with guns, stones, foreign soldiers like RSS. Why? because the evil one knows if he is not in office he will be in jail
Who are you to lecture people about Evil with your biblical quotations and understandings, lol, you think that’s how it works with your judgment of people calling them evil based on your partisan political beliefs. You know, a sign of ignorance is indicated by some belief in injustice. Here is what your bible say about judgment. A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.
Proverbs 21:2
Unless we understand why Caine killed Abel we’ll not understand what is happening in DA today. But 1st John 3:12 tells us why:
“He was a child of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did Cain murder his brother? Because the things Cain did were evil and the things his brother did had God’s approval.”
The job any government is to make laws, respect laws and ensure everyone respects those laws.
When there is a situation where law makers are the law breakers and to ensure they don’t get arrested they ensure that those in the judiciary are inwardly guilty for breaking laws too in order to get promoted, you know sin lies in their door.
Before government ministers were not only called honorable because of the office they had but they behaved and conducted themselves honorably. Since the death of Rosie and Pierro things changed. Even Adventist that’s strong on Ten Commandments to Hon.Badventist
So now Hon lawbreakers are after law keepers because their deeds are evil and Abel’s good
hey brother…the jumble is real…just to remain in control….one day all the wealth and properties he has…will be investigated…..bunch of vagabonds….
Does this charge by Blackmoore sound familiar? The same as Roosevelt and his bogus coup d’etat.
When will the harassment of decent, law abiding citizens end? No wonder Dominica is cursed. Things untoward are happening everyday.
The bandits (police) should leave Hector John alone and occupy themselves with solving the many unsolved murders, break-ins and rape cases. These majority school dropouts should refrain from mischief making!
Mr. John, as a community leader, politician and someone who is generally well liked in your constituency, I believe it is incumbent on you to let your constituents know that unlawful acts are not the way to go about addressing grievances. You need to come out strong and assertive and let Salisbury folks know that any acts of mischief is totally unacceptable. BAWI is getting a bad name, nothing to be proud about. Some folks view this image as a badge of honor, I say this is foolishness. There is nothing to be gained from “acting the fool”.
You said stay home and lie low, why not come out and tell the folks to discontinue their disruptive actions. Everyone should not be inconvenienced because you have an issue with the government. Other people have rights as well.
@Mark
I like people who can criticize both sides. You are not one. Hypocrite. Fake.
I respect bloggers like
MEME
IboFrance
Gabriel St Jean (i no longer hear from him)
BwaBanday sometimes..etc, etc,
You are a one sided HYPOCRITE. Maybe a Skerrit crumb lover.
Spags is 1000000000% Correct
Correction. The gentleman’s name is Jonathan St.Jean and not Gabriel. Maybe he just got tired of posting on DNO and is taking some time off or has had enough of all this crap and decided to move on. Nevertheless, I wish him well whatever the case may be.
Enough is Enough!!
These ministers are public servants!!.. Point blank!!
Instead of planning for progress and developing the country, they behave like maniacal tyrants who weaponize the police against the same citizens they vow to serve… who pay their salaries!! This needs to make it to the larger media outlets to let the world see that Skerrit and Blackburn are running Dominica like it’s Russia… Since when is it okay to send police for folks who oppose and speak up against the BULL…. the Labour govt doing in the country?
