The funeral of the late President took place on Friday

Bishop of the Diocese of Roseau, His Lordship Gabriele Malzaire, is of the opinion that the Dominicans should follow in the footsteps of the late former President of Dominica, His Excellency Dr. Nicholas Liverpool, as it relates to him not settling for mediocrity.

Dr. Liverpool, who died on June 1st in Miami, was laid to rest on Friday 19th June 2015 following a state funeral.

“I could not help but observe the gentlemanly manner with which our brother handled criticism,” Malzaire said while delivering the homily at the Grand Bay Catholic Church. “His response to the demands of that role was always a clear display of what I describe as intellectual transcendence, a value which we so badly need in this nation and a world such as ours where often researched opinions are regarded as truth, where the most unintelligent are authorities on everything.”

He continued, “The instructive nature of his utterances and the presentation in the House of Assembly and other forum are testimonies of someone who did not settle for mediocrity. This cannot but be a great lesson for any nation.”

He noted that all leaders “ought to know that by virtue of their position they are subject to much criticism,” adding that “I would say that he accepted that truth is a siting gracefulness.”

President of Dominica H.E Charles Savarin and Mrs. Savarin, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Mrs. Skerrit, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alix Boyd-Knight, parliamentarians, Prime Minister of St. Lucia Dr. Kenny Anthony, Governors of St. Kitts and St. Vincent among others.

Patriots, Let he that is without sin cast the first stone. Judge not least you be judged. Certainly, we do not have to wait on history to proclaim President Liverpool as the best man in all aspects of law and governance among all those who criticise him. The heights that Great President Liverpool reached and Kept will never be achieved by the idiots who lead UWP.

Nothing but good of the dead. But should we emulate the late President in everything your Lordship? Very well then, I too have apiece of property that is difficult to sell but need the money. Perhaps the govt. can do me a favour and take it of my hands at market value. I liked Nicholas Liverpool but please, do not make him appear like a saint.

Some of you misunderstand the reason of being recognized for earthly works.
No one is making him a saint. This is left to God.
Since he excelled in whatever he did and was a good example, he is worthy of being recognized as such.
Really, looking back on his life from youth to being the President of Dominica, this is why he was remembered and his life was celebrated.
Those who knew him well had only praises for him on how he interacted with them and conducted himself at work during his career.
A dear lady once told me, “The word of the people is the word of God.”
His work on earth was complete. Let us allow his soul to rest in peace.

Gabriele, keep you advise to you, and yourself, many of us knew Dr. Joseph Liverpool; we dealt with him in person, we know how professional, and honest a man he was. Say I Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque told you; he could not be corrupted!

He could not be bought, unlike you, who sold your soul to the devil in hell for five hundred thousand dollars to a dictator! You are a grown man, yet you are known as the boy bishop in Dominica, because the ruling Labor Party said you are their boy bishop!

You are a stooge, slave, and a tool of Skerrit, rather than been a slave to our Lord Jesus Christ, as Paul denote in the book of Romans! You are a tool of Satan the devil. You are a politician, and is not fit to mention the name of God in your mouth!

You need to leave our country, and return to the hole in the ground from which you emerged playing bishop!

Here is something everyone should also emulate. We could, to a certain extent, attribute it to the memory of Dr. Nicholas Liverpool.

    Thoughts:

It has been said that we bring nothing into the world
And we take nothing with us when we depart
But that was written of material possessions.

All of us bring with us the need to love and be loved
And take with us, in spirit,
The knowledge of having loved and having been loved.

So I wish for the ability to remember the good things
And to forget the rest, to create new memories
    And to be sustained by trust and hope and courage;
And always, to try, to understand.

  8. The Real Facts

Former President, the late Dr. Nicholas Liverpool is one whom everyone should emulate, including his deportment, as Bishop Malzaire stated. He achieved much through studies and his career.
This is what we should concentrate on and encourage, especially the youths to emulate.
Books are written about the lives of some known men and women who have predeceased us. I do think one should be written about Dr. Liverpool and distributed to schools. In fact, taught in schools that they will be made aware of his achievements and hopefully emulate him.
Those who wish to be personal and delve into his personal life, I am emphatically stating to you respectfully, it is none of your business. God knows you and your personal lifestyle. Therefore, you are in no position to make such comments.
Some of you do not know or overlook that one day you will pay for your words as imbedded in your heart, mind and thoughts. It is better to do good than bad. Far better.

Simply put, it is not done for the Hierarchy of the Catholic Church since they reached higher heights in the Church or it was left out. Note their status in the Church.
It is done for the laity, as a remembrance, he believed in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and worshiped Him. Note the difference.
The Cross is a reminder, a symbol of Our Lord’s life, death, crucifixion and resurrection that, He died for us that we might obtain eternal salvation. He also said, “If we perform the Will of His (Our) Heavenly Father.”
Note, there are conditions for obtaining eternal salvation. Worship, prayer, penance and sacrifice. This also means love for one another and performing acts of love. Two names for it is, generosity and charity.”
It is also a reminder for all those who are gathered at the cemetery that, without The Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we have nothing.
Pertaining to your question, you can also ask a priest who will explain it to you.

    • The Real Facts
      June 23, 2015

I have never seen the Bible placed on the coffin; only The Cross.
Actually, The Bible and the Cross go hand in hand – together. It was decided that the Bible would be placed on the coffin.
We Catholics make the Stations of the Cross as a reminder of Our Lord’s suffering to his resurrection.
The Bible also reminds us of Our Almighty Father’s Commandments and the words of the prophets, as inspired by God including Our Lord’s Incarnation, Life and Teachings to his Resurrection. This is why we Catholics pray The Holy Rosary which consists of them to His Resurrection. We have a lot of prayers as reminders of Our Lord.
At the cemetery, at the conclusion of the graveside prayers, The Cross is taken out, blest and handed to the next of kin.
The Bible represents The Word of God and His promises to those who follow Him according to His Word, His teachings. It is also a reminder of the Word of God for all mourners and sympathizers.

it is clear that based on the bishop’s close affiliation with and love for dominica’s most corrupt government, he has lost all credibility in the eyes of decent dominicans. he is praised and applauded by haters of truth and righteousness and exalted by the practitioners of corruption. like liverpool was, malzaire is a paid operative of skerrit. dno must review the issue about the salisbury and marigot seats which were vacated illegally by skerrit and alix and the role fowl liver (liver-poul) played going against his conscience and the law to facilitate his master and fellow free mason skerrit.

    June 22, 2015

The Bishop is totally deceitful. When he met the people of Salisbury on invitation of his parish priest and again when he was on the Heng with Kamala on Kairi FM he said categorically that he was not there to case judgment and that he was no politician and therefore he was not going to condemn anyone. The Bishop invited the leaders to a reconciliation meeting to discuss the matter everybody else showed up except the PM to the extent that the meeting was rescheduled for today Monday. The Bishop however took the opportunity at the funeral to make a 180 turn. I guess when he saw the PM and all his bon jean there he had to say something pleasing to them. So he lashed out against the protest. Bishop you continue to lose credibility, its clear you have a bias and therefore can no longer be since as being neutral guess that’s the effect of the 500, 000$ gift and the fact that CRAZY confirm that ” you are our boy”. NO! I do not appreciate you referring to the Bishop as such. God of all does not appreciate it worst than I do.
Who are you anyway? You took it upon yourself, according to your mentality, to state it. You are a God-hater, a Catholic Church and Its Clergy hater. This is why I stated that one day you will pay for it.
You did not give it a thought that whatever you say and do the Holy Spirit sees and knows. It is recorded for your judgment.
As a Christian Catholic, I have no alternative but to speak the truth.
You are out-of-place and have no right to criticize the Bishop. He is a man of God. As an adult who is obviously a Christian and who knows, a Catholic one at that, you should know better never to attack a Priest for you will pay for it.
If you have a problem with him, take it to God in prayer.
Our Lord spoke about not judging others. God knows you are no perfect person. Therefore hold your tongue and tie up your fingers.

See about your soul and ensure that you make it to at least the Gates of Heaven.
Too many of you criticize and make sarcastic, unbecoming comments and you do not know or ignore how long you will live, that you are heaping eternal burning coals on your heads.
See about your life on earth, how you live that you might save your soul.
People cannot please God and obtain eternal salvation if they are unkind to others,
Our Lord has taught us, “I give you One Commandment. Love one another.” Why is this so difficult for people as you to practice toward your fellow people? Who is the fool? You deny yourself God’s blessing and graces.
