“We are very happy and pleased with the outcome of this event, we felt that the purpose and goal of community fellowship was met.”

That’s the reaction of the main organizer of a social evening in the community of Castle Bruce on Easter Sunday, dubbed “Castle Bruce – a Resurrection of Love.”

It was an evening where villagers were treated to a series of performances of drumming, dancing and poetry. Religious leaders in the community including Father Elveau, Pastor Kent Wiltshire, Pastor Joan Lockhart and Pastor Dave offered prayers and talks on different subjects including repentance, resurrection of love and the manifestation of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

According to organizer, Marian Jno-Finn, when a nice shower of rain came, most felt it was a confirmation of God’s approval and blessing.

She said many villagers thought the event was a treat and they are looking forward to another one. “I felt the love, the unity and I know there is a shift – a positive shift as a result,” she said.

Jno-Finn noted that the organizers and local government are working together to bring more activities to the community including a storytelling night which is expected to take place on the beach under the full moon.

Many made the event possible including Isaac Baptiste, The office of MP Johnson Drigo, Tacky Grocery Shop, Tapas Accommodations, Kira Henry, Maximum Hardware Supplies, The Pentecostal Church, The Castle Bruce Credit Union, Victor Roberts and Mr. & Mrs. Ganga Harripersad.

Congratulations.Good to know something positive is happening. The committee along with the council needs to address the issue of break ins going on in the village. The people need to be taught to respect other people’s property. Stop breaking into peoples houses.

This is going on island wide. Too many thieves and liars. There need to be neighborhood watches established.

Greetings to Castle Bruce and Marian Jno-Finn and her family and friends from a very cold Ireland, the land where the original John Finn who gave his name to the line originated. It’s great to see such community spirit in action. Long may it continue and prosper!

Do not doubt the importance of these events. They need to be expanded and repeated. They help buld social capital which, in turn, promotes social cohesion and reduces crime.

It’s stories like these we want to read about from time to time because if it wasnt for the Love of God I really dont know how much our lovely Island would be able to stand. I congratulate all those who made it possible I hope the other Villages will spin off from what happened in the village of Castle Bruce
