Cultural Elder for 2009 Anthony Harve was laid to rest earlier this week after a thanksgiving service at Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Town.
Harve, who was a member of the Giraudel Jing Ping Band, died two weeks from pneumonia.
During 2009 Independence celebrations, Harve who was 82 at the time ,received the title of Cultural Elder for his long service and dedication to cultural development in the Giraudel community.
The sound of jing ping music resonated through the Roman Catholic cemetery as ‘Mr Tony,’ as he was affectionately known by members of the Newtown and Giraudel communities, was laid to rest.
In addition, people who attended the funeral all came out fully adorned in their national wear.
I hope the young people carry on his work R.I.P Sir and thanks.
