Derek Angol passes on

Derek Angol
Derek Angol

Founding member of the Kiwanis club of Waitukubuli, Derek Angol, has passed on.

Speaking to Dominica News Online, president of the club Rene Roque said that the news of his passing was a shock to the club members since Angol had been actively involved in the activities of the club.

She noted that Angol had been ill for some time and that may have been the cause of his death.

Angol will be remembered for his contributions to community service in Dominica and is a founding member of the Kiwanis club of Roseau which later led him to form the Kiwanis Club of Waitikubuli.

Angol was found dead at his home on Tuesday morning.

Angol was a quantity surveyor by profession.

Isn’t wonderful that persons who encountered Mr. Angol have only good things to say of him? This suggests that how he interacted with his fellow human beings is an example to us all.

Our beloved brother from the days when we became men in 4 B (Bully) and 5 P (Polydore) at DGS!

I was privileged to meet you again, Stompy, at St. Alphonsus and visit you at your home, after all these years. As children of the old soldiers of the Dominica Legion we talked about how to revive and transform the organization.

Your Grammar School sisters and brothers will never forget you – neither will all those who came after, whose lives you obviously so deeply touched…

Really sad to learn of Derrick Angol aka Stompy passing. He contributed a lot to the development of young people through his involvement with the Dominica Netball Association and more directly with the Jazz Netball Club, and his connections with the Kiwani’s club. He worked with heart. I am deeply saddened to learn of his death, Rest in Peace Stompy.

R.I.P. Stumpy. You have gone to a place where there is no pain or suffering. You have left behind family members, sports personnel (netball and basketball), friends and acquaintances, and of course service club members, and so many others.

In view of his illness, his earthly life’s discomfort has passed. The good he did with the allotted time that God gave him followed him to eternity.
My sympathy to his family and all those whose life and hearts he touched. God’s consolation be with you.

Life Is But A Stopping Place

Life is but a stopping place,
    A pause in what’s to be;
A resting place along the road
    To sweet eternity.

    We all have different journeys,
    Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn somethings
    But never meant to stay…

    Our destination is a place,
    Far greater than we know,
    For some, the journey’s quicker,
    For some, the journey’s slow.

And when the journey finally ends,
    We’ll claim a great reward
    And find an everlasting peace,
    Together with the Lord.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!

Dominica has lost one of the greats! There are very few people I know who are as selfless and giving as he was…no request was too much! Having first met this bundle of joy and cheer at the Key Club in DGS, then Circle K of the State College, then Kiwanis Club of Waitukubuli (wow Stompy! You really pulled me through the progression in the Kiwanis family lol) I can attest to his generousity. I pray that God continues to watch over your family and friends and they are comforted at least in knowing that your suffering on earth is no more.

Rest in peace Stompy!…you`ll always be “Charlie” to the “angels”
