Four-year-old survives cancer

Any parent will say that having a sick child is not an easy thing but having a child with a deadly disease, can be a horrifying experience.

Alain Thomas’ nightmare began in February 2013 when his four-year-old daughter, Alainey Charles, was diagnosed with cancer.

Alainey was born one month before Thomas, from Grand Bay, left Dominica for greener pastures but he kept in contact and he knew about everything that was going on in her life.

“She’s my only daughter, you know,” he told DNO.

As the child grew older, the parents began to realize that something was not right.

“She began getting breathless very quickly,” Thomas explained.

Alainey was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital for a check up and what followed was a long list of visits which appeared to have no end.

“All they keep on saying is pneumonia, pneumonia, pneumonia,” Thomas stated.

But treatment and medication for pneumonia did not did not halt the breathlessness which got progressively worse. The parent thought that something else was going on with their child and demanded some more tests.

Finally the news no one in the family expected, came.

It was discovered that Alainey had cancer in her left kidney and the disease had spread to her lungs.

Thomas was devastated. “I felt as if I had gotten two bullets in my chest, I felt as if I wanted to die,” he said.

After the initial shock of the news passed, Thomas became determined that he was not going to let his child succumb to the disease.

So he turned to his faith and social media for help. “The money was not all that on my side but I prayed, I started making calls, I sent Facebook messages, I did everything I could,” he related.

One of the persons who heard Thomas’ plight was Dr. Kenneth Darroux, MP for Petite Savanne, who began offering assistance and advice.

Thomas’ goal was to get Alainey to the US for treatment but the process itself was no easy task.

It turned out that getting the doctor’s diagnosis was not simple and it took days of begging, literally, to get it.

After a couple of angry calls, the diagnosis was finally given to Alainey’s mother who immediately sent it to Thomas.

He said his heart sank when a doctor in the US saw it and said the child needed immediate treatment.

“He said we need to get that child ASAP for treatment,” Thomas said, “It was that bad.”

To add even more urgency to the situation, Thomas said he learnt that doctors in Dominica were planning to remove Alainey’s cancerous kidney without offering any treatment for the cancer itself.

“I told them that nobody is going to touch my child because I am going to do what I have to do to get her up here,” he said. “I know if they had cut her in Dominica, she would have died.”

But Thomas had to get a visa for Alainey and her mother and that had to be done in Barbados.

A flurry of phone calls followed and with the help of Dr. Darroux and prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, the two were flown to that island where they were met by Thomas.

With her visa settled, Alainey was flown to the US and taken straight to hospital.

Chemotherapy and radiation followed and eventually the cancerous kidney was removed.

It has been a month now since Alainey was declared cancer free and Thomas said throughout her ordeal, she never lost her energy.

“The nurse and doctors kept on asking me why she is so energetic since  they could not understand how a child so sick could have all that energy,” he said.

Thomas is of the firm belief that Alainey’s healing is nothing short of a miracle.

“Yes, it is a miracle, it is definitely a miracle,” he said.

To God be the glory great things he has done! Children are a blessing from the Lord. She’s such an angel and she’s here for a purpose. To her parents, continue to trust in the Almighty Father and serve him with all your heart, mind and soul as long you live. Men will fail you but God Almighty will NEVER FAIL YOU and he will continue to guide this little angle.

With God, all things are possible. We just have to believe, that He is able to do abundantly above all that we can ask or think. I do not k now this family, but I can imagine what they were going through. I admire the father for hI m staying in close contact with his family, even if he was I’m the US. The healing of that child came from God no one else. He is a mighty healer.
This story brought tears to my eyes, because I,ve got a 10 year old, who is so precious to me, no one wants to see their children suffer.
God bless this family, and never forget to give Him praise.

By the stripes of Jesus Christ we are healed–both physically and spiritually; but “faith without works is dead” Alain Thomas believed and he put his faith to work for the sake of his little girl.

There is no way that our God of Love would deny such call for help. O yes! He heard the call of Alain Thomas by the works of his faith and trust, and now Thomas’ little girl is well.

Let us give God the glory; for He is the Living God of Life in His Person Jesus–with God nothing is impossible.

Thank you Liz! You are a woman of faith. You have a message to share. Please do not be silent!

Jesus is Jehovah Rapha – the LORD our Healer! This is one of His “redemptive titles.”

I say the following to every true (born again) believer in Jesus Christ:

On the solid rock of the Word of God which you stand upon I encourage you will exercise your faith as believers and let God use you.

      You are ” …heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;…” (Romans 8:17)

Jesus said “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:14) The Apostle James wrote (by the Holy Spirit) “…pray one for another, that ye may be healed…” (James 5:16)

God is who He says HE is.
You are what God says YOU are.
God will do what He says HE will do.
You can do what God says YOU can do!

There is no such thing as “cancer” free. There is only cancer non-detectible. You have to ask yourself why she had cancer in the first place. It doesn’t come from no where and it can easily come back. Hopefully it won’t.

    • December 3, 2013

Don,t you believe in miracles. Keep your negative comments to yourself and stop trying to damage the hope of the parents and all those involved with this little girl. You sound like the messenger of doom and gloom

    • December 3, 2013

I am an evangelist with a deliverance ministry, not an M.D.

I thank God for the M.D.s and all who work in the health care professions.

Pentecostal Christians know that God still heals through prayer with the laying on of hands or the anointing witn oil. But we also believe that He heals through doctors by the use of medicine and surgury.

One is direct. The other is indirect.

Years ago after six weeks of ministry in Toronto followed by sixteen weeks in New York, and then another sixteen weeks in the Caribbean with a service (almost) every evening and sometimes twice on Sundays, I was stuck by an illness that threatened my career.

I went to a Christian M.D. in Toronto who was a specialist famous for the creaton of one of the world’s great vaccines. He told me I had brought my condition on by over work and may have to stop preaching. After he had written me a prescription (and told me it may not work) he laid his hands upon me and prayed for my healing.

I took the prescription for a time. When I stopped using it the illness was gone. It never returned. I have often said I don’t know if it was the prescription or the prayer that healed me.

The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5 “…by his stripes we are healed.” This is indeed both spiritual healing and physical healing. Thank you for drawing our attention to this great truth once again! This is part of what we call “the full gospel”. People have been healed simply by discovering that Jesus paid for their healing at the whipping post! You are doing a good work by making it known.

Mr. Alain Thomas has demonstrated the importance of using both faith and works together. I am so grateful – not only for little Alainey’s miraculous (yes, miraculous!) recovery – but also for what her father has taught us. Wow! This man stood up against the system. He deserves to be celebrated! To God be the glory!

“But we also believe that He heals through doctors by the use of medicine and surgery” Rev. Donald Hill December 3, 2013

I am glad you said “we” because I also believes that truth as well.

That insight is the way I understand what our Lord God said to Moses through His saying: “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you”. Exodus 3-14

Our God of Love in Spirit and Truth, makes Himself who He has to be–through His obedient human servants–for the sake of saving His chosen people; once again I say both spiritually and physically. Praise Him, our God Jehovah who lives in His Person of Love, Jesus Christ.

Only God knows what the future holds for any individual.

However, we live in the present. At this moment this precious little girl – Alainey Thomas – is cancer free.

The Lord Jesus said `…whom the Son makes free is free indeed` :!:

Let us give God the glory! He has a plan for her
life. He also has a plan for her parents and their family. Nothing happens by chance. There are thousands of DNO readers out there who know that this is true because they know God and His ways. :-P

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

That is purely the hands of my God. He worked a miracle, open doors for Alainey, put people in Alain’s path to get proper care for his daughter. What more can we do but to live our lives for God. Thank you for healing this little Angel Lord. Give her long life, perfect health and strength and most importantly, help her to serve you when she is older. Thank you for her caring and determined parents. God is great!

to God be the glory, i am certain that there were prayer warriors on their knees for this child.. God bless her

    • December 5, 2013

 More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.

Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees.

There will always be the nay-sayers who want to rob God of His glory by taking the supernatural out of any story that shows His miraculous power. But through the years many Christians have seen :-o the hand of God in the circumstances of life doing what no human power could do.

In my ministry I see astonishing miracles of healing. Demons  crying with loud voices come out of those who are posessed. It is no big deal. It is only standard New Testament full gospel ministry. The outsiders or unbelievers  are the only ones who are surprised. We expect it to happen!

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

Battles like this are not won by blaming anybody or badmouthing. It is too late for that kind of negativity. Thank God for those who saw the need and moved quickly letting the past be the past!

This is an adorable little girl. Just to see the pictures of of her is enough to move anybody to do what they can to help.

I join in congratulating the father Alain Thomas in his determined effort to get things moving and his continued pushing, Dr. Kenneth Darroux M.P., for his support, Prime Minister Skerrit for doing what only what he could do, and little Alainey’s mother for her loving care and co-operaion in the process, and of course much appreciaton to the entire medical team in the U.S. and all others who contributed.

I met this talkative little girl one Saturday morning while her grandma was trying to find her some water. She immediately started to talk and laugh when I invited them to my mom’s spot where I was chiling. She warmed my heart with her jovial spirit. A few weeks later I met the grandma and askd about her, and she gave me the terrible news of her illness. I was immediately saddened and offered to say prayers. I am very very pleased to see this story today. I remembered the name Alainey – I remember telling her it was a lovely name for a lovey little girl. You ask yourself why- when an adult develops a tumor there is an implied reasoning – whatever it maybe , bad eating habits, hereditary, wear and tare etc but when it’s a kid the only question is why.

OK smart peoples – if this Hospital does not look like our PMH, then it goes to show that the PMH is in really bad shape!! What’s the BIG DEAL? And mind you – the pic only shows a small room. No one had enough commonwealth sense to say, well, this is just a room in the hospital. Who is heartless? I’m happy for the child and family! I expressed my feelings in a previous comment! But is’t nice that so many of you jumped on my comment. In any case, we all know that our PM does not trust his own hospital.

I’m quite happy to hear that this 4 yr old is cancer free and much better. Thanks to God. Children are a precious gift. I just can’t believe that the doctor refused to give the child’s diagnosis. That’s how we die here. Doctors are afraid of telling people what is wrong, and some die of fear, fear of something they don’t even have. Thank God the father was in states. They seem to be better at their profession over there.
