Dominican Kellyn George has received tremendous support from Dominicans, at home and abroad, after she received a Young Leader’s Award from Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.
DNO posted a story on George receiving the award from the Queen on Tuesday afternoon and by Wednesday afternoon the item had received over 85,000 views on Facebook.
The views continue to rise and the post can be described as going viral. An item goes viral whenever it receives a large number of views in a short period of time.
George, who is presently in London, was born with sickle-cell anaemia and has endured many complications with her health. Her experiences motivated her to establish The Sickle Cell Cares Foundation in Dominica. The organisation raises awareness of the disease and aims to help those who are affected to manage their healthcare as well as possible.
Just last week her organization presented a Blood Bank Refrigerator to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
She was among 60 exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth who were recognized for taking the lead in transforming the lives of others and make a lasting difference in their communities.
What an honour! What a high honour! Miss George your response to the promptings from on high resulted in that signal honour. You have done well.
That’s the POWER of the online media. GREAT JOB DNO! We are all proud of her
Congratulations Kellyn keep up the good work, wish all the best in your endevours and continue to be a positive “ROLE MODEL” for all of us..
What fascinates me even more is your attire..
Glad that I am part of this on face book there was no way I could have pass by this one and not share it with my friends
How elegant this young woman looks in her National Wear; We really have a National Wear all of us can be proud of. Our women always look so richly dressed and distinguished in such a formal attire. Dominican women should be wearing their National Wear more often in formal occasions and be very proud to do so.
Congratulation to Miss George in being one of the recipients of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Recognition Award for her very important work on Sickle Cell. We hope with research a cure can be found for this disease that primarily affects black people.
Great job kellyn .. Keep being an ambassador to the young ones growing up and to your country. Make your organisation continue to be a light to other organisation and to sickle cell patients.
Congratulations ! Good project, i would encourage each health district to work with this organization for better patient care with sickle cell disease. Thumbs up.
