Loubiere Catholic Community, DSC mourn passing of Trevor Christian

Christian was described as exceptionally talented

The death of 30-year-old, Trevor Christian of Wallhouse, is being described as a great loss for the Catholic community in Loubiere and the Dominica State College where worked as a Senior Information Technology Technician.

Christian passed suddenly on the weekend after a brief illness.

He is well-known in to the Catholic community of the Holy Spirit Chapel in Loubiere because of his musical talent and technical skills. There he was the keyboardist and a member of both the senior and youth choir. He was also a member of the Loubiere Young Catholic organization (LYCO).

Janet Riviere, who worked with Christian for many years, said he was known for his commitment to his music ministry.

“He is a very committed person and he really gives his best to everything that he decides to do. You can really rely on Trevor,” she told DNO. “Trevor is the kind of person that even in difficult moments, if he has to be at church for something like practice, he would organize himself and it is very rare circumstances that Trevor would not show. And if that happened, he would make sure he send a message. He works very well with the youth and he has a lot of skills in the music ministry as well as the other fields.”

She said Christian enjoyed working with the young people and anyone interested in music and often brought her computer to him if she encountered difficulties with it.

Riviere said his loss is a great one.

“It’s almost like we lost our backbone when it comes to technical things and even in the music…,” she said.

In 2014 he was honored by Holy Spirit Chapel Community for his “untiring and committed service to the Catholic Church in Dominica, especially in the music ministry,” according a citation.

Meantime President of the Dominica State College (DSC) Dr. Donald Peters said Christian was exceptionally talented and he will be missed.

“He was an exceptionally talented professional who took the initiative to ensure that the college system was innovative and functional,” he said. “Of course we are deeply saddened by the death of Trevor and the DSC, as you can well understand, is mourning his death.”

He described Christian as hard working, exceptional and talented and will be missed by the DSC community.

“He single-handedly ran the entire college system with one junior technician,” Peters said. “We will surely miss him .. it is a real loss to the college community. We are deeply moved and it will be very difficult to find someone to fill his shoes but we have to accept those things, I guess.”

Peters extended sympathy to the Christian’s family and said Thursday will be declared a day of mourning at the DSC as a mark of respect.

Christian was the son of Andrea Christian, the principal of the St Martin Secondary School.

Thirty years old. He was still young. As we say, he just commenced in life. I wonder what caused his passing?
As mortals who cannot fathom the reason why, we can only say, “God protects us from something worst than death.” Therefore, God protected him from something which is beyond our mortal comprehension.
To also DSC staff, friends and associates, my heartfelt sympathy to you. I visualize how his mother, other members of his family and yourselves are saddened at and grieving his loss. May God strengthen and comfort you.
Trevor, God bless your soul. Rest in God’s glory and peace. RIP.

My heart is heavy with sadness. I will always remember Trevor playing for us at the St.Theresa church in Salisbury. Though he was not a member of our parish, he was so committed to playing for us on special occasions. He was very talented and humble; a gentle soul indeed. I will never forget you, Trevor. I have hope that you are making music in a much better place.

DNO needs to investigate. Give us some more info. All those in grief, pain, mourning the loss of Trevor, the wonderful human being that he was, would raise their eyebrows in shock to know the circumstances, what was his illness, would an emergency operation saved his life before…………….

A stitch in time saves nine. Proper, efficient health care in time saves lives.

You are very correct. Trevor wasn’t ‘ill’, he didn’t have ‘short illness’. Persons would indeed be quite shocked and outraged at the actual circumstances surrounding his death and how more efficient and productive and proactive health care service at the P******* M******* H******* could have saved his life. Pure negligence and incompetence.

It’s only when one of their own family members falls at the hands of those in question that bombs will start to burst. Giving people wrong medication and then asking you if the person suffered from seizures prior to being admitted?? Is a nasty habit they have! It needs to stop! People need to stop saying that its the Cuban doctors who are at fault when its our own local doctors who too fancy for their own britches and are offended when you as a concerned relative asking questions. Like who are you to ask questions. They send patients to ICU to the Cubans when they already do all their damage!!

We have a similar situation in Toronto or Canada for that matter. New drugs are manufactured. I heard some are not tested yet they are given to patients; as scapegoats I suppose. These people know nothing about what is contained in the drugs. They are inferior drugs which cost the pharmaceutical companies less but costly for the patients.
A relative told me that whenever the doctor prescribes medication, she takes it to the health store and gets something equivalent which works.
An owner of a health store had told me that. If per chance the doctor prescribes medication, take it to the store and will be given something equivalent.
So far, so good I do not take medication. If I have to take medication, I will first take it to the health store. A lot of illnesses and deaths could be prevented. Every year thousands, if not millions of people worldwide die of malpractice/ wrong medication. I can tell you, it is scary.

I was very shocked when I learnt of his passing….I got to know this talented man from a talented group who occasionally plays so beautifully at our church at Salisbury…..The first time I heard his group…think it consists of his sister and relatives….after mass was done, I went up to them and congratulated them on their exceptional talent…I asked them to return every time they could, and they did….I just sat in church and took it allll in…..
Everyone who has heard them play knows exactly what am talking about…..so sad

But he’s with an even more beautiful group of esteem….the Good Lord and his protective angels…..

RIP Mr. Christian…your soul belongs to the Lord….

Within the space of just a little over 2 months, the education dept. has lost 3 stalwarts ,in the names of Frank, Elwin and now Christian and without mentioning, they were also Catholic stalwarts. My condolence goes out to the families. I knew the others, but I cant recall knowing Christian. I want to convey to the Christian family, hold on strong, God will never impose burdens which would be too much for you to carry.

Yes!! An investigation needs to be launched! They did what they do best..send you home with painkillers instead of trying to get to the bottom of the problem. Even when private doctor literally put you in their hands and tell you exactly what the problem is..again they think they are the best inventions since slice bread! Trevor wouldn’t have died if due diligence was taken and the doctors had done their job!!! Again I say an investigation needs to be launched. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THAT HOSPITAL.

I would advise persons visiting the casualty to take note of EVERYTHING! The time you got there, the names of the nurses attending you, the doctor on duty, all medications administered to you and the times they were administered, the name of the x-ray technician, ecg technician if that is part of your treatment, blood test results, EVERY DAMN TING! When we become more vigilant and start paying more attention to what’s going on, only then will we get results.

To Mrs Christian and family, please accept my deepest condolences . I can’t imagine how you must be feeling right now. I pray that you will find comfort in our great one above. May he rest in peace.

  23. September 21, 2015

O dear God! It is so difficult to understand why You would take away a young man, with such credibility, from his environment–it is very difficulty. But this is Your, dear God; You know what You are doing.

To the Christian family, I cannot even imagine your pain, right now, but there is a good thing for you to think about–that thing is that your son, your brother, nephew, or uncle, has gone to his grave with a soul that is well–he will rest in peace until Jesus will call him out on Resurrection day.

Your responsibility now is to continue in Life, on his behalf, with the hope of meeting him again on that “beautiful shore”, where Jesus will call us home with Him at His mansion on that “Land of Paradise”

Meanwhile remember the Words of Jesus: “My strength is made perfect in your weakness”!

May his soul rest in peace. My heart goes out to his entire home circle. I recently I lost my dad and I know how it feels to lose a loved one, until now I cannot accept that he is really gone. My consolation to you, continue to trust in God, may he give you the strength and courage one day at a time to continue life and deal with the death of your son on earth. From what I read I can conclude that he was a man of God, rest assured that he is with the Lord.

I will remember you all in my prayers. God Blessings
