Alliance Francaise de la Dominique is proud to announce the arrival of its new Director, Mr. Maxime Bonneau.
Mr. Bonneau, who hails from Paris, has assumed duties as Director as of April 19th, 2016. He comes to us filled with vigour and great ideas for cultural events which the Alliance is known for.
These include a high energy music festival in celebration of Fête de la Musique on June 21st, 2016. We intend to have bands, solo artists, and musicians from ALL musical genres playing in a continuous, free-flowing live show, which will be open and free to the public.
Then in July, we will join the Division of Culture of Dominica and Guadeloupe in offering film screenings in different communities around Dominica. Families will be invited to bring along a blanket and enjoy captivating and fun films right in their communities.
Under Mr. Bonneau’s tutelage the Alliance will seek to continue promoting exchange and excellence in French by working closely with schools to offer training that both teachers and students can benefit from.
Message from Mr. Bonneau:
“Bonjour everyone,
It’s a real pleasure to be among you. Since my arrival, I have been greeted very warmly by everyone I met and this means a lot. So thank you to everyone I met for your warm words and your fraternal smiles.
I also would like to introduce myself. After pursuing cultural and communication studies in Paris, I created my own event-planning company. I then sold it in 2013 to take the post of Deputy Director of the Castle of Sully-sur-Loire, a real beautiful castle in the Loire Valley which is visited by over 80,000 people annually. These very rewarding experiences have taught me how to unite a team and how to use our imaginations for development without a substantial budget structure. “Motivation and hard work” are my motto.
With the support of Dominican and French institutions, I will attempt to continue the plans and programmes which were initiated by my predecessors. The spread of the French language is a very important issue for all young people in Dominica who are looking to access French universities. In fact, the Alliance Française de la Dominique is the only institution in Dominica to deliver the DELF B2, which qualifies applicants for enrollment in all French speaking universities. (France, Canada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, etc.).
The second mission is the plan for cultural dissemination development and the reinforcement of interactions between Dominican culture and French culture. It is important that our institution can move from Roseau and organize cultural activities all over the country. It is our role to spread the culture to the most remote villages and I will strive to develop these plans!
I still have much to learn about the island and its people, but I plan to meet with you all as often as possible. On my behalf, and on behalf of the Alliance Française in Roseau, my door is always open!
Is he single?…;)
Bien venue de la Dominique cest bor pour DOMINIQUE
yup … people don’t realize French is spoken if not as much as but more than English throughout the world. The French are all over the world spreading their culture. Its part of our culture too so Welcome!
French is well worth learning, and is a very important language, particularly in Africa, but it’s not more widely spoken than English.
