In a rare show of unity, both sides in Parliament on Tuesday morning expressed condolences to MP for Salisbury Hector John on the passing of his mother, Merl Isidore.
Isidore died suddenly about 11:30 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).
Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, Opposition Leader Lennox Linton and House Speaker Alix Boyd-Knights, all expressed sympathies to John, who was absent from Parliament on Tuesday due to the passing.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Honourable Hector John and his family on the passing of his mother Merl Isidore, she was 65 years…our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Linton said.
Skerrit also added his voice in the matter.
“I want to on behalf of the government extend our deepest condolences to the family of Honourable Hector John on the passing of his mom,” he stated. “I had the occasion Madam Speaker to send those condolences privately to the family by sending a bouquet and a card of expression of condolences, from myself, the government and of course my family.”
The Prime Minister said losing a mother is a difficult experience.
“I pray that the good Lord will give them the strength to deal with the loss because losing your mother is the most difficult experience and our prayers and thoughts are with Honourable John and the Isidore family…” he stated.
Boyd- Knights also added her voice in expressing condolences to John and his family.
