An incident during which Jamaican artiste, Tommy Lee Sparta, was denied entry into Dominica has been reported to the United Nations, according to Jamaican newspaper, The Star.

The newspaper quoted director of Guzu Musiq, the artiste’s label, Keona Williams as taking the matter to the world body.

“We reported this to the United Nations headquarters that the CARICOM nationals were arrested, denied food and water, medication and rights to legal representation,” she told The Star. “This changed when the artiste developed serious medical conditions from the ghetto concrete floor accommodation provided. He was consequently moved to the Marigot Hospital emergency room because a metal from his broken leg developed blood clots, cramps and muscle spams.”

She went on to say reports which indicated Tommy Lee refused to return to his jet after beind denied entry are not true.

“He did not refuse to leave that night. He arrived in Dominica on a private jet. Based on the time, he was unable to get clearance for landing if the pilot returned,” she said.

Williams also said that a stamp of denial or written document of no entry was requested by the artiste, but it was refused.

Meanwhile main organizer of the show during which Tommy Lee was to perform, Cabral Douglas, said evidence is being gathered to take the matter to the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) for damages.

He also called for the immediate resignation of prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit and minister of tourism, Ian Douglas.

“We are talking about treaty obligations with the Caribbean Community, and Human Right conventions which have universal jurisdiction,” stated on Thursday. “It therefore compromises Dominica’s integrity and standing on the world stage, and certainly within the Caribbean Community, which is why it is appropriate at this time to call for the immediate resignation of Minister of National Security, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.”

He also said the matter pertains to Ian Douglas, MP for for Portsmouth and minister of tourism, who he said “is directly involved in taking food from the table of his own constituents, including graduates of the National Employment Program, performing artistes, contractors, security officers, vendors, bar tenders, DJs, bus drivers, hotels, chefs ect…”

“This actions have also puts future performances by foreign artists in Dominica at risk,” Douglas stated.

Cabral noted that as minister of tourism, Ian “has undermined the integrity of our tourism product.”

“Overseas visitors have come to me for refunds and as Minister of Legal Affairs he has exposed the taxpayers to massive lawsuits resulting from these actions which in my humble opinion make him unfit for office,” he noted. “I request that all who suffered losses and the broader community who condemn these actions made on their behalf, join me in demanding his immediate resignation from public office….”

Tommy Lee was denied entry into Dominica last Sunday. He was set to perform at a concert in Portsmouth that same night.

He was subsequently detained and deported on Monday.

The government said he was denied entry into Dominica because of concerns for public safety.

When Tommy Lee lodges a complaint with the help of his attorney to the UN and expect their approval and compensation, firstly the UN should immediately investigate his lifestyle, his songs and goings on in Jamaica as also the lottery scam he is involved with for which he was arrested and probably is still under investigation.
Secondly, the UN should also read all the comments, especially pros of Dominicans and their reasons for not wanting him to perform in Dominica.
Thirdly, his arrival in Dominica, being asked to return which he refused and then his arrest, detention and deportation.
No matter who and what the UN is, in all fairness, the entire case must be reviewed and analyzed. Then a decision will be made who was at fault in this case and if this man should be compensated and by whom. This is, if the UN accepts it as a valid case.

    Take note:

    1. His lyrics are unacceptable for performance before a teenage and adult audience.
    2. They spew demonic words, of destruction and contribute to lack of peace and unity in the country. They are not educating and serve no useful purpose. Some parents would not want their teenage children to attend.
    3. For also this reason Christians found his presence and performance as also unacceptable.
    4. He was aware of the feelings of the majority of Dominicans.
    5. It appeared that his promoters had no wish to cancel the concert due to the exorbitant sum of money they would have received for his performance, that if they had canceled it, Tommy Lee would have sued them for breach of contract.
    7. They had obviously sold tickets and would have had to reimburse those who had previously purchased tickets at a loss to them.
    8. They ignored the majority of D/cans concerns and objections to this man performing.
    9. They agreed for him to fly to Dominica that Sunday to perform.
    10. Tommy Lee landed on Dominica’s soil at the airport and got out of the jet. In the interest of Dominica and nationals’ security, the authorities told him to return to the plane. He refused.
    11. He was arrested and brought to the Marigot Police Station, booked and detained. He was deported the following day. These authorities will obviously prepare a report on this matter.
It was not known what type of songs he would sing and how he would be dressed for this occasion. I noted on a Jamaican Website the manner in which his face was painted in a devilish manner. It was nothing attractive to look at. From my point of view, it was rather upsetting that I would not stare at it for even a full second.
Considering (also) that the majority objected to his performance, I foresee if this man was allowed to land and to perform, grave problems would ensue.
The D/can authorities were within their rights for national security reasons to prevent him from landing and performing. May the truth prevail.

Let me start off by stating that I had very little knowledge of Tommy Lee prior to this incident…so I decided to conduct some research about this individual….and respond to some of the pointers which was highlighted by Simply the Truth.

My first thought after reading this ridiculous response is, “Devil Recognizes Devil!”

First off, who are you to decide what lyrics are considered acceptable or unacceptable for adults?

Secondly, I will not deny that much of Tommy’s lyrics include language that would not be considered appropriate for a teenage audience but limits could have been set on the age of individuals who could attend this show…

You mentioned the lack of educational importance of such lyrics…if I didn’t know better! I could mention our own WCK, Serenade, Triple K etc whose music include a lot of sexual content…what is the educational value of this type of lyrics…what are they saying to our children? You failed to mention Tommy Lee’s lyrics about life’s struggles as a child growing up in the ghetto and his use of ancient civilization–the Greeks–to be more specific–SPARTA, who were known as great warriors to describe his way of life…Is that not educational?

Know your history before criticizing! Be open-minded! Music is a form of art which is expressed differently by each artist. As adults we have a right to choose what music we want to listen to. Our government should not be making such decision for us. The dominica labor party seem to be Dictators! Next, they will tell us what to wear and what to eat. It is so obvious that we are not free as a people. I could go on and on about this response but I will end with, the devil knows what the devil looks(painted face) smells, and sounds like…you must be the devil himself!

This government is in authority they have a right by law to say who they want and who they don’t want in this country if you go at somebody’s home and they tell you they don’t want you here that’s their home they have a right all you have to do is leave

The Government had the right to depot him. Dominica has to show other countries that they has the right to refused entry to anyone. No matter what nationality you might be espeially the Jamaicans.

Am sure the promoter knew of the possible friction around this. And its also a shame on him to try and make profits while further sinking our young people. I believe that every thing that can potentially derail the development of our young people and the future of our country should be restricted.

The majority always win. They are the winners in every respect. The majority of people decide on the amount of votes for a government to be elected; likewise, the majority of the people in a country have the right to decide who qualifies and is entitled to enter their country or not.
When the majority complains about an artiste’s prospective performance in their country, you listen to them otherwise trouble will ensue.
The government authorities are not be blamed. It is the government’s obligation to protect its people, its nationals from immoral performances and evil artistes. If governments fail to do so, woe to them.
The promoters knew the sentiments of the majority of D/cans and disregarded them. They should have consulted their attorney Benhanzin then. Did they? They had ample time to call off his appearance. Defiant as they were, they still encouraged Tommy Lee to fly to D/ca. They are to be blamed and should pay him for breach of contract.

Full time somebody put a stance against these nonsensical so call icons who are partially responsible for the continuous breakdown in morals and ethics in Jamaica and our wider society at large. Where Jamaica’s government has failed to implement or enforced, another country will enforce. Unfortunately these enforcements comes in the form of imprisonment, deportation, execution etc. The world is getting smaller and if we want to remain relevant, then we cannot continue on the slope we are on. Its a very slippery slope…….Slackness has to be contained.

God bless those who stood up against this type of performance. While God knows we are not perfect people and some of us are striving for godly perfection, He is pleased with everyone concerned who inhibited his performance. We hope from now on Tommy Lee will clean up his act.

o Lady Gaga was banned form a concert in Indonesia because the religious community there felt she is promoting a materialistic immoral lifestyle. Nothing to do with Americans. and that deportation has nothing to do with jamaicans but about the immoral and decadent lyrics of the artist effect on youth. Many Jamaican singers have performed in Dominica without any problems. Remembered Jimmy Cliff in da early 70’s.

Couple things here. Dominica is a sovereign country, well within its rights to refuse entry to requestors at its sole discretion. Courts cannot impinge this soverighn rights. When we talk of massive lawsuits, the court is only concerned with material damages in a claim so this claim is unlikely to result in a large payout. The claim would be for re-imbursement of hospital costs which is material. Loss of future earnings and reputation are a bit more difficult to calculate as dancehall artists are not known for squeaky clean images to begin with. I see this ending in “maybe” an apology and some re-imbursement for medical/concert costs incurred in good faith. The rest is politics that will serve as good entertainment but not much else.

I know @possie direct got some wild punches sent at him /her for rebuking the church but as a believer I agree with most of the things he/she said. Unlike that blogger, I cannot say Skerrit used the church to stop Tommy Lee from performing in Dominica but at the same time I am not too sure the church would have reacted the way they did if the Prime Minister and the DLP were the ones that organized to bring down the artist. Mr. Skerrit for some unknown reason is loved by most of our church leaders especially those that use to have a very strong spiritual voice in Dominica and to them, he sure can do nothing wrong. The question is, did he buy them so they would not rebuke him when he transgresses? It appears so to me. Take for example one pastor from the north that use to have a powerful TV program. He is on record along with another evangelist saying that Mr. Skerrit is a born again believer. But are they serious? How many men and women with the PM’s lifestyle would get that pathway to heaven? Quite clearly it appears to me that if an ordinary person was living a similar lifestyle they would be demonized by the church.

To people saying that the CCJ has nothing to do with Dominica, you clearly do not read the news. Dominica recently left the Privy Council in England and elected the change to use the CCJ as the highest court of appeal for matters relating to Dominica.

So yes, this is what happens when cases are called against CARICOM nationals in dominica.

Also the entire way that this situation was handled was bad. If the organisers were just told beforehand that Mr. Tommy Lee Sparta was not going to be given entry into the country then that would have been end of story.

All this has ended up doing is taking away jobs from our young people, stopping the flow of money and causing party promoters to realize that it makes no sense to continue to operate in Dominica like this when there is no guarantee that your event will go on. This event was one of the longest and best marketing campaigns that I have seen from an individual Dominican in a long time and it is sad that the event never got a chance to go off.

How has this helped Dominica in any way? All I see is negativity on all sides. Please can we try to uplift ourselves.

I expect a lot of uneducated people to respond to this in the manner which they have. It is typical Dominican style to just come out and spew hate about something they know nothing about. So sad. The court of law goes by law not the word on the streets. So all those lawyers on this panel can continue their street talking “jiberish” on the streets around the corner, but their arguments cannot hold water where it is really going to matter. All these people talking about evil, having sex not married, have children with different men, abusing alcohol, about to walk on the streets naked during the carnival season, but they on here talking about God and evil. Amazing how Dominicans can sit on their high horses and point fingers when they fail to realize that we are all sinners. So stop being hypocrites stop living in a house with someone if you are not married, go to church every Sunday or Saturday, pay your tithes, do community service and then come and talk. Other than that we can have civil conversations but not one condemning others because who are we to judge. Where were the religious leaders during Wete fete? All those under age children with alcohol being served and raunchy behavior. If we want to be a religious nation we need to go all out. Not when it suits us? Do like countries like Saudi Arabia where they have zero tolerance for what they consider acts outside of their religious belief. I know I am going to rattle a lot of feathers but I have to call out all those word of mouth Christians , FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD.

Tommy Lee is crap…Based on the fact the guy is out of bail on a lottery scam, any country Dominica and any other country has every right to deny him entry to their countries. I am sure by the time these people hear his cases he will be in jail somewhere…duh

I appreciate the efforts made by the government to keep this man from performing in Dominica. If in the process of doing this he feels he was manhandled … then let me be the one to apologize on behalf of my country!BUT by no means will we apologize for denying you entry … so go ahead; take us to the courts of the world, you will not get a dime from this country.

Last time i checked i believe Dominica is a Democratic place and i think the police force should have dealt with the matter better and more humane than they did…Some police officer like to go to excesive on the way they treat civillians and that have to stop….They were only looking at one thing using their power to embrass Mr Lee,despite is name and actions before Mr Lee is an International Artiste and thus he should be treated farly like all other Dominicans aboroad, who break rules but still got treated fairly, when i say fairly they should have made him speak to his Lawyer and sleep on a cardboard esp…So what about the persons who invested all thier money and time into the show?Dont talk about the bar and shop keepers ehhhh we must always think of our brothers and sisters who have mouth to feed…

let me add my nonsense piece to this crap, : if in America they could ban Buju for singing against gays, then what is so wrong about DA yes little DA as in David , that we can’t ban a man for glorifying Satanism.
And remember, David must never fear Goliath(UN).
Let mister hector john and lennox linton defend Sparta, hector yes with a little h is a little monster, he is not in power yet , but he can;’t stand my opposition of his party, as if me and him have the same navel string, he ban me on facebook for a simple comment. io not want to see him in power, I don not know what they will call his system because that isn’t democracy, it is a juju situation.
you want to use facebook as a political forum and you cannot take opposition. you hate opposition so much you do not even want to go to parliarment and dod your work boy, just stay hanging out by de Roseau bridge, with your IT Associates degree and think your inarticulate behind will getdream job in the UN. February 28, 2014

Dominicans PLEASEEE EDUCATE YOURSELVES before you give an opinion about this story!

    1. To all of you who have never listened to Tommy Lee’s Music but are commenting.. I listened to it once last year and I was MORTIFIED! And I am NOT even a religious person! I PROMISE YOU that if your son, husband, boyfriend started singing those extremely violent and demonic lyrics you would be concerned for them! They were THAT BAD!

    2. Do you really think he was denied food and water? All of this is LIES! Educate yourself on how the law works! He was probably guided by his legal team to visit a hospital because that will give him a few more $$$ when he sues the Dominican government simply because they embarrassed him! How can y’all not be angry at a man who is dragging Dca’s name to international agencies based on OBVIOUS LIES

    3. WHEN WILL DOMINICANS TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR COUNTRY AND NOT LET EVERY VAGABON IN!??!?! The U.S. denies people entry all the time! Why don’t you ask yourself if Tommy Lee even has a visa?NO HE DOES NOT! In a recent interview he asked the U.S. Embassy to give him a visa. SO MANY ARTISTS have a visa! The U.S. doh want mister but its Dca that is a wash your foot and come?

    4. Go to Jamaican News Posts! So many Jamaicans are commending the Government for not letting this man in. Obviously you have his supporters who are against it. But he was not denied entry because he was Jamaican!

OPEN YOUR EYES! All of this was
    1. A political plot by the opposition to stir up controversy in the island (And no i am not a red nor a blue)

    2. A plot by an artist who knew he wasn’t welcomed to come, and sue the government of Dominica to make some money.

Ask yourself…of allllllllll the GREAT artists Jamaicans have produced..Tessanne Chin, Movado etc…Why is it THIS MAN WITH ALL THE CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING HIM the douglases wanted to bring to dca?

If this wasn’t clear before it should be obvious now because of all the OBVIOUS lies. Where in Dca they going to deny you food and water!?

People PLEASE be more patriotic to your country…and stop jumping on the bandwagon of dragging Dominica through the gutter. Self hatred is a hell of a thing!

This man’s music is more disturbing than ANY other music out there! Read his interviews! His attitude is the definition of nasty and misguided and I am sure if your son adopted his attitude you would give him two la

A Dominican who spews the same filth should be denied their rights. A Jamaican who spews this filth should be denied their rights. Really? Pure ignorance.

People can spew filth all they want but this guy was coming to Dominica spew his filth to the Nation, all bold and loud. Dominica is our home, we should decide what we want coming in. We don’t always make the right choices as a God fearing country but when we do, we shouldn’t point out the moments we did but commend the positive decision and hope that more are taken. If he was coming for vacation , maybe he would be allowed access but he is coming to preach something we don’t want our youth OR ADULTS to be a part of. IF you wouldn’t like your children to be influenced by this then don’t accept it for the rest of the country. God bless Dominica.

Mr Leroy,Writing To You, We Consider Blessings FROM THE LORD Our GOD.

We Give GOD THANKS For Your Life and His Traveling Mercy. You Were Blessed With Safe Flight into The Nature Isle.
Having Life One Can Choose Life or Change Their Previous Choice and Lifestyle.1 John 5:12 You that Have THE SON Has Everlasting Life.
The dead know nothing, his thoughts perish, the dead cannot PRAISE GOD.

Brother where did we go wrong? Should We Be feared by People? We Are Asked To Fear (Reverend,Respect,Honor) THE LORD Our GOD AND CREATOR, FOR HE HAS THE POWER To destroy the body and soul.
All The People Who THE LORD COMMISSIONED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT To Go Into All The World and Make Disciples. Teaching Them THE WORD OF GOD. We Were Told where We are not received and THE WORD OF GOD rejected, We Must Shake the dust off Our Feet and leave.

Brother I Say To You,Please Consider This Matter, THE SON OF GOD,The Vine Dresser Out Of And For LOVE OF HIS FATHER AND ALL THEY CREATED Gave All HE HAD.HE Became The Sacrifice To THE FATHER,THE ONLY ONE WORTHY TO Take our place.THE SON OF GOD Took our place and received death which was the wages for sin. This THE SON OF GOD DID SO We Can Live FOREVER.

Brother WITH ALL THAT IN HIS HEART AND MIND, THE SON OF GOD CAME UNTO HIS OWN and HIS OWN received HIM not.

Brother Who Are We? and What is The Work We Do? How Important Is The Work We Do? And Who are We Doing The Work Unto?

Brother Let Us Do The Work We Were Called To Do Diligently. For All Good Is Beneficial To All.

Thank You For Considering Forgiveness. Forgiveness Is A Gift FROM THE LORD.HE GAVE HIS LIFE SO We Can Receive Forgiveness. We Must Receive Forgiveness FROM THE LORD And This Forgiveness We Ask Of HIM When We Are Alive. Nobody can receive Forgiveness for sin we did in Our Behalf or for Us.Brother Let Us Do And Live In Righteousness.

We,Yes All Shall Bow the knees ,and Must Answer and Give Account in Every Language To THE SON OF GOD.

The Time Is Now.Let Us Act Now.There Is Room Available For You In THE KINGDOM OF GOD Brother. You are Loved. We Are Sharing LOVE WITH You For GOD IS LOVE.

Take Heed My Brother And Be Your Brother’s Keep. LOVE IS ONE,This Is Why It Can Be Said ONE LOVE. Yes Brother ONE GOD,ONE LORD,ONE CREATOR AMEN.

This is a really interesting situation we’ve found ourselves in. We can see it in the wide range of comments here.
We need to understand that foremost, the conditions of holding cells in Dominica are inhumane, not just for foreigners, but for anyone. Is that the kind of treatment our locals suffer when being detained? This is total madness and has to be changed immediately.
Secondly, we have to be careful what power we give our leaders. If we make it okay for our leaders to assume ultimate power without responsibility, then we have to assume all the responsibility without any power. For example, if Mr. T. Lee wins his case and is granted financial restitution, the money isn’t going to come directly from any government or church official. It is going to be taken from the tax payers earnings.
To continue, Dominica is already under bad light in the international community especially with its latest struggle with gays fighting for rights. Let’s get things straight, pun intended. I am very much in favor of our laws on gay behavior. I will support anyone’s struggle for human rights, especially basic human rights, and I commend the PM for his stance and keeping the laws in tact. That being said, I do not support treating anyone, foreign or domestic in the manner in which it is being reported that Mr. T Lee was. We need to separate ourselves from this kind of publicity and very quickly.
To go further, Dominica seems to be the among the last of the CARICOM to have its citizens travel through the CARICOM by using identification cards. This latest incident may have set us back even further. I would expect that travel will become very difficult for Dominicans, especially transit through Jamaica.

Lastly, it’s time we have some official word from our HOS (head of state). We need to get some clarification on this matter a.s.a.p. so that we as a nation know where we stand. We need to know what is our next step and we need some reassurance right from the HOS’ mouth.

His attorney helped him in this case. Some people will concoct lies to get what they want and to try and win their case. It is a lie that he was denied food and water. Probably he refused them.
I hope the immigration and police authorities documented everything which transpired.
Those who are arrested and placed in the detention centre should not expect a bed of roses, some, the comfort they enjoy in their home. The best thing to do is to obey the Law. Then, they will not have to be detained.
He travelled by a charter flight. Are we to assume that if he were not denied entry, the jet would return? How would he return to Jamaica? It looks like he would have spent more than an afternoon/night in Dominica. Did he get that permission?

Skerrit is a coward. His things was well calculated. From day one when he got to know who was going to be the organizers he knew his was going to fight it out because he and the Douglas family are not friends. as a matter of fact he and I an are not friends you know is just that for the sake of the business they marrying and divorcing every week. Skerrit knew very well that he did not want to disappoint the youths because he knows he needs their support for the election. He knew very well that if he killed the Tommy Lee show the young people not just from Portsmouth would be mad with him and he could not afford that. So he then went to the church leaders, don’t forget some of them are spiritual advisers, some are business partners like the one that said the villas belongs to him, some he put roof on church for, some he put AC in church for etc and told them that he needed their help. So without thinking of the spiritual consequences as soon as Skerro told them that he wanted them to organize a protest for him in the name of “The Church” and to follow it up with a letter that threatens to clash with the Tommy Lee concert, they were quick to say, ok and mobilized the church because you know since they hear is someone by the name of demons that coming they will show up. So the church jumped with that and created a spiritual mockery of themselves.

Here is part 3. God NEVER intended for the church and politicians to be in partnership. whenever the church and government become friends expect confusion and mess like we are having now. The job of government is to lead whereas the role of the church is to pray for them -1Tim 2:1-4. When the church becomes the friend of politicians know spiritual values will be compromised by the church as politicians will do anything knowing very well that they will not be rebuked by politicians. In fact things have gone so bad with us that some of our leaders have found themselves in bed with politicians because of gifts. Take for example evangelist P.A. During the reign of UWP he was all over rebuking them for list mistake. So powerful we were that during a crusade in the valleys the house speaker did everything to stop us and she and the evangelist couldn’t stand a bone in each other. But since Skerrit became PM, Skerrit nominated her for president and not a word from evangelist P.A. Elijah, Elisha, Jerimiah, Isaiah were all on the otherside of politicians and would always rebuke them. The church of Acts was never loved by politicians because they would not allow their gifts to get blinded like those greedy preachers we have here. In Matt. 14, John the Baptist was brutally murdered by the politician Herod because John told him it was wrong for him to have sex with his brother’s wife. Can you understand why Skerrit can do anything he wants and none of those so-called men of God will say nothing? They are after what they can get from skerrit who has become their god

    • Possie direct
      February 27, 2014

I meant to say politician know very well they will not be rebuked by the church.
As believers we all have our political preferences and that is alright. But when we get to the point where we are bought by politicians and cannot rebuke them because we feel we might not get favors from them, you know we are in real trouble. I want NOTHING from no politician because my God has promised to supply all my needs. My God is not man, is not my belly but Jehovah! Politicians and governments come and go; but Jehovah God reigns forever!

Is he aware that pre-trial publicity could prejudice the case to the CCJ ?
How does he reconcile Beyanzi’s lack of confidence in the CCJ and taking this matter to the same court?
Is he aware what the Jamaican Observer newspaper is saying on this matter via the comments section ?
Is he aware that Hunter has a song anything for a dollar?

In Gen 1 to ch.3, after God created the universe, He planted the tree of both good and evil in the garden and placed Adam right there. Did he build a fence around the tree of EVIL to protect Adam from it? He simply warned Adam about the danger of it but Adam had to chose.
In Deut. 30:19 He said, “… I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life…” Man has to choose between what is right from what is wrong. The job of the church is not to protest or try to shield people from evil but rather, to teach men and women to choose the ways of the Lord. If they fail to choose the way of God they will find themselves craving for the pleasures of life and that we cannot stop. When Jesus came on earth, He met satan, demons, evil spirits etc and when He left the earth He left them there as well.

Why didn’t the promoters informed the artist that he was cancelling the show because Dominicans were not happy with his type of music to avoid what happened?

Was the promoter daring the government that he could do whatever he wanted? What was the promoter’s role in the whole affair.

Could the promote avoid what happened to Tommy Lee? Or is that what he actually wanted to happen?

The question in most our minds is why?

As a born again believer I know I will get blows for what I am about to say but I am use to that already. I have said it before and will say it again; The church should not allow themselves to be used by Skerrit or any politician to accomplish their dirty political game. I am not in support of Tommy lee Sparta and I do not know him and have never listened to any of his music. I treat him the same way I treated artists whose music and goal is to draw men to God. For the church to say his music promotes demons and that’s why they played the role that they played leaves me to wonder if Jamaican artists like Tosh, Bob Marley, Bunny wailer etc all of the 80’s promoted the kingdom of God? Do we blame them for the ganga in Dominica today? Absolutely not! Yes, according to the church their problem with Tommy Lee is because he goes by the name of “Demon” and thus promotes the Devil here. While I do not have a problem with that, my question is, did we not have evil, devil worship, witchcraft, and those that are sold to obia and guardet zafe in Dominica way before this guy? Are some of our politicians not known to be indulging themselves in these evils? Yet do we not bless them and refer to some of them as jesus? Life is about the choices we make. It is about good and it is not our job to put a stumbling block in the way of anyone. Skerrit just used the church and the church might not have only chased TLS from the gospel but many others. We must learn to let the dead bury their dead. Part 2 is coming

This land is Dominica’s and belongs to it. God gave this land to Dominicans.
Well, you are on the side of Satan, Lucifer, the dragon, the snake, the deceiver, the cunning one, the father of lies and not on the side of God, godliness and morality. Those who agree with you are likewise the same. Woe to all of you! You are not even on the side of Dominica and standing up for what is right.
You stick to the issue. I am certain that you are exaggerating. The personal affairs of Dominicans are none of your business and should not be mentioned to draw comparison with Tommy Lee and his character. As God knows you, your heart and lifestyle, you, yourself are no goody two shoes.
You are living in the past. 1980’s are long gone and those who you speak of are no doubt all gone to their eternal destiny. I do not think those you mentioned were ever as bad as this man, the devil worshiper who sings demonic songs and of destruction.
The fact is Tommy Lee was denied entry. This man was recently arrested for a lottery scam. He is not a good reputable candidate for performing to Dominicans. This must also be kept in mind. It is as simple at that.
UN is a body of various people of different beliefs and characters and is by no means on the side of God.
The D/can authorities had a right to refuse Tommy Lee entry. Who is any foreigner as the UN, godless people they are and who knows that some of them too are devil worshipers, to dictate to Dominican authorities? Who does Tommy Lee think he is?
We have the UN but the world is still topsy- turvy and is getting worst. It was much better without the UN. So much for UN. I have no confidence in UN. All countries should get out of UN.

      This is the way to go if we want to move Dominica anywhere.Thought like these we need to cultivate, not the HATE that is distorying the state;
WE HATE without cause,We ‘HATE’ to feel “GOOD”
IF we would understand that “LIFE” is just a flicker of TIME maybe we would act diffrently;though we want to live as long as we would like to live,we are not guarantee the next minute;we should try to focus on living GOOD,by doing GOOD.NOT by thinking we are good, and we can say what we want; But by being TRUE to ONESELF. • anonymous
        February 28, 2014

@July Gem, why did you not quote the entire passage in Rev. 3:
        14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

You realize none of the rebukes were directed at an individual but at the church? So don’t use it to attack an individual because he / has expressed how they feel about the condition of the church in Dominica today because it is a fact that since Mr. Skerrit became the prime Minister, the church has lost it’s way and that powerful voice and influence we once had in the days of Pastor Bell, pas. Prince, Cuffy and others, who all had their political side but their names were never called in any political mess and all politicians would respect them. That’s not the case today. The church leaders have taken a political side at the expense of our voice and it is a fact that Skerrit can do whatever he wants and they will say nothing. So don’t hate the messenger because you hate the message.

        February 28, 2014

@Anonymous, happy you are born again and is a worship leader in God’s house. God bless you. However, I stand firm on what I said. God gave every man a choice and man has to choose between God’s way and the way of the world. God planted both the tree of life and the tree of death in the garden of Eden and placed Adam right there. He told Adam of the danger of eating from the tree of evil and Adam was responsible. God did not fence the tree of Evil to ensure Adam does not eat. The church could protest as much as they want to keep TLS out but the people who love his music will still find a way to listen to it. The job of the church is not to protest but to preach the gospel of Christ. Now if the church was not aligning itself with any political party but instead would stand as the light of Dominica and they decided to protest, it would be understandable. But the fact that most of our leaders, and I can call name too, have so aligned themselves with Skerrit to the point that there names have been mentioned in the corruption of Skerrit (and evidence is there to support this) sure puts me and others in a position to question their motives in that Tommy Lee Saga.

Wha happened, is Skerrit dat asked the churches to protest? What kind of idotic comment is this? How do you arive at a conclusion as stupid as “Skerrit just used the church?!” How has he used the church in this saga? Why would he have to “use the church” to deny the artiste entry?

You claim to be a “believer”. We have no idea in what/whom you believe. My advice to you is to stop obsessing over Skerrit. You and your ilk are turning him into a mini-god, much bigger than he realy is. Idiot!!

How did I arrive at that conclusion you asked? Tony told us saw, but fell short of telling us the WHOLE TRUTH :The government said he was denied entry, detained and deported in the interest of public safety.

Meanwhile Senior Counsel Anthony Astaphan, told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) ….“A significant portion of our communities are Christian and they have expressed outrage of this particular individual.” Ask Skerrit and Tony to tell us the whole story and what spiritual leaders met with Skero to cook the plan.

      February 28, 2014

@possie direct I agree with you as well. I have always said that I do not believe that is how Jesus would have dealt with the matter. The scribes and pharises were always quick to condemn as well and Jesus took a different approach. Remember the woman caught in adultery, Zacheus etc. As Christians we need to take a different approach at transforming lives and bringing people to Christ. Our actions need to convert others to Christ and not deter them.

We need to condemn the sin but not the sinner.

@Possie direct…..it’s either you are plain stupid, hypocrite or just lost. Here you are talking about being a born again Christian, accusing the church (based on what, you are not even sure of …because of something someone told you).Don’t try to mixing religion with politics here just because you might be against the Skerritt administration. The man’s (Lee Sparta) music is DEMONIC. You can’t compare his music to other artist’s music. The leaders of the church and maybe the government have listened to the music and based on what they heard , have decided not to let that fool in.You can’t just let anyone come into your country with whatever they have and do whatever they like. It’s just like having someone come visit your house. Every country has it’s laws and people should learn to abide by the laws of a country. You can’t go elsewhere and do whatever you like, why allow another to come to yours and do whatever he likes. Maybe you should listen to it and then come back with an answer. Stop being a blind lead by the blind.

@ Eyeballs, while you are not sure whether I am stupid, hypocrite or lost, I have no doubt that you are a BIG FOOL and I suggest that DNO puts a disclaimer out for people like you, so that when others read your comments they will know that all Dominicans are not that foolish and you are just an isolated case. Did I ever justify TLS music? Did I not say I don’t support his music? But because I don’t support his music just as I don’t support unsaved music, does it mean I should force my desires on others? Didn’t God plant both the tree of good and evil in the same garden of Eden and then place Adam there? Learn to accept people even if you disagree with what they sing or practice and if anything, let’s not close doors on anyone but instead look for opportunities to win them to the Lord.

True, but it has jurisdiction over Jamaica and the Appellant is a Jamaican national, which means they have long arm jurisdiction in hearing the case. … Yea sad but true.. then again, there is a way for Dominica to win this case, given the nature of the incident. A CARICOM member state still has the individual right to deny entry to other CARICOM nationals that may be deemed as a threat to security and peace. So that’s in my view that’s a failure to even consider taking the Dominican Gov’t to court.

This will go to the CCJ as expected and if it is proven that there was any wrong doing against Tommy Lee Dominica will have to pay. It will have to be proven first though. Like I said church and state should not mix. This was a political ploy by the opposition forces who complained and even wrote calypsos about the fact that religious leaders are keeping silent about what they claim to be the ills taking place in the country. The church was pressured and forced to respond to these allegations by taking a stand on this Tommy Lee issue. This is the result.

Dominica, as leaders in the Caribbean for unity and advocating of the implementation of the CCJ as the Caribbean’s final court of justice should see the matter through the court system and if the evidence shows that there was wrongdoing to Tommy Lee should pay any damages that is assessed. Remember we are leading the charge in this Caribbean unity business. WE MUST practice what we preach. Good luck to Tommy Lee. I hope he gets justice.

Let me inform you. In words of ungodliness, immorality and immoral laws, church and state does not mix. God has set his Ten Commandments which everyone must follow.
These are the same people who are Christians, who go to church, who pray to God I hope. These are the same ones who, when they die, God will judge them for their words and deeds.
If you foolish people think as you state church and state does not mix and with your ignorant words can keep God out of the state, try taking Him out of it. He is right in your midst, listening to them and taking note of all what they say. How else will He be able to judge them on that day? You are not smart people. You cannot keep God out of anywhere and anything. Smarten up!
Have you forgotten God created the world and human beings and His eyes are everywhere, in all they say and do, that no one escapes his scrutiny for their judgment? Would love to tell you more.

If all of these allegations–especially a lack of documentation for his denial of entry–are accurate, then this is truly a public-relations disaster that will not go away soon. What an embarrassment–and this is all the fault of our religious fanatics. Who else could have convinced the government that the concert presented a threat?

Religion and government do not go together. Secular government is the only way to go, so as to allow freedom of religion, freedom from religion, and freedom in general at better levels.

    • Nel
      February 27, 2014

If you were well read and learned you would know that Governments started directly from religious organizations. In fact they were one and the same… The queen of England is the head of the Anglican church. The pope and cardinals sit in high political ranks and tribunals etc…

      • Special Agent Truth
        February 28, 2014

It’s so funny that you mentioned well read and learned. It is good that you know these facts, however, you seem not to know the history after. It is because of these kinds of tragedies that church and state have been separated in England. The pope and his underlings sit on no county’s legal systems except Vatican City.
You speak about the days when religion played a major role in politics to the point where kings had to get religious approval to crate decrees. Look at all the wars that have been fought in the last fifty years. How many religious leaders have put their feet down and simply told the world leaders to stop. None. Why? Because religion no longer has an authoritative stance in politics. Politicians only show their religion so as to convince the people that they, the politicians, are good God fearing people that the community can trust.

Some of you will never comprehend this man’s evil character and reputation which displeases God. He is an enemy of God and not a lover of God. Furthermore, God did not want him performing in Dominica. This is why he was denied entry and tried to force his way in Dominica, bold as he is. Take this and smoke it in your pipe!

Boy this week there wasn’t a good week for Dominica at all. Embarrassment at the international level. On major worldwide media outlets.

I am interested in knowing who my fellow DNO commentors think we have to blame for such embarrassment.

I say is the Cabinet sub-committee who decided to ban Tommy Lee and the Olympic committee and whoever is in charge of that economic citizenship program.

I said that we’ve not seen the last of what happened to Tommie Lee. Don’t let the domino effect surprise you. The decision was ill advised and it will continue to keep us in the limelight for the wrong reasons.

This is what Skerritt & the DLP are all about.

    Embarrassment,
    Human Rights Violations,
    Breach of Law,
    No Justice,
    Electoral Fraud,
    Oppression,
    Unlawful Interference with the Judiciary
    Corruption of the Judiciary,
    DISCRIMINATION-
on basis of religion, musical persuasion, Nationality, and of course Political Persuasion

Dominicans afraid to sue skerritt for electoral fraud, and it took Tommy Lee to open our EYES and reveal our plight to the UN.

This “thing” is getting ridiculous & out of hand.. i mean yes the treatment tommy lee got was inhumane but afterall you were asked to leave the country when you landed & you still stayed eh.. i dont think he will win this case

      February 27, 2014

boss u have to understand, the reason why he could not fly back was the pilot could not get clearance to land allu doesnt read, they could at least put the man in a guest house and next day they could fly..they did not have to put the man in jail and strip search the man and all that crap i not a fan of the man but allu self doesnt read!!, from my stand point allu tax money that going and pay for the lawsuit

      • YungMusician
        February 28, 2014

The pilot couldn’t get clearance to land, where? In Jamaica? Really? and how did they determine that with the plane sitting at MH airport. Performing artists are denied entry all over the world for one reason or the other. And TLS sound respect our right to do the same. Being a medical person myself, the test for diagnosing DVTs are a bit more complex and they had no way of knowing he had blood clots so soon.

      • Get this
        February 28, 2014

before the a plane takes off they must get clearance from the arriving airport, Dominica should not have given clearance to Land if they knew he would have been denied entry. But their again air traffic control is not immigration.

This was handled incorrect and those one must worry about the many other affairs of the country that are being handled incorrectly.

      February 27, 2014

Inhumane! you know that for a fact! Just asking?

      • police officer
        February 27, 2014

taking a man who has committed no crime and placing him in a concrete, smelling cell with no bed is inhumane, it is about time dominica stepup to their game. airport detainees who are to be deported next day should be placed in a comfortable holding area with bed, toilet, bathroom and tv… its like dominica is the only caricom country that treat passengers in that way.

      • NOT A SPARTA FAN
        February 27, 2014

its not a prision its a detention cell… they sleep on the floor if they are not given cardboard..
there is where poor people children are keep when arrested or detained,
on the other hand, when the upity of society are detained they are brought upstairs the police headquarters in roseau and are taken care off..
