I can’t cope with society – Eric ‘Zai’ Joseph

Eric ‘Zai’ Joseph shortly after his release from prison

A man who was released from prison after serving 25 years for murder, is having problems coping with society.

Eric “Zai” Joseph who was sentenced to hang in 1983 for the brutal murder of Giraudel Farmer, Ted Honychurch, told Dominica News Online that since his release in 2009, he was being treated unfairly by society.

“They still call me murderer, rapist and have disassociated themselves with me”, he said.

He said currently he is a nomad, moving from one shelter to the other.

“Haile Selassie told me the Infirmary is not for me so I won’t go there. I need to be treated better than that” the ex-convict complained.

Joseph said following his release from prison, his daughter took up responsibility for his personal well being but as a grown man, he couldn’t rely solely on her.

“I cannot depend on my daughter for refuge. When I was in prison my mother sent me a lot of money over the years. After I came from prison, I only received $3000.00. I want to know where the rest of my money went to. Government promised to give me a home but where is it?” he asked

Joseph is asking for assistance in the form of a permanent shelter.

He also claims that there were attempts by several individuals in the New Town community to kill him.

“I learnt from my mistakes. I am not a murderer. I am a changed man. It’s just that I am finding it hard to deal with society. This is a Babylon system and it is not working for me,” he said.

Eric Joseph now

In the summer of 1983, Joseph was found guilty for the 1981 slaying of Ted Honychurch following his abduction by a group of ‘Dreads’ headed by one of the country’s most wanted fugitives Leroy ‘Pokosion’ Etienne.

Joseph confessed to shooting Honychurch just days after he was kidnapped along with his wife, cook and gardener, all of whom were later released.

According to his testimony, Joseph shot Honychurch after he killed one of his kidnappers in a failed bid to escape. Honychurch’s body was later burnt.

Weeks after the killing, Joseph was found severely injured and close to death in the area around Boetica after allegedly falling into a precipice and being left by his fellow ‘Dreads’.

At his 1983 trial, he was originally sentenced to hang but it was commuted to life in prison in 1993.
Joseph now walks with crutches and sleeps at the health center in Roseau.

When asked whether he was better off in jail than being free, Joseph said “Haile Selassie doesn’t want me in jail. He doesn’t want me trapped so I needed to be freed but too many things are happening to me. Someone broke my leg, they tried to poison me…I feel trapped”, he exclaimed.

The people of this website have such a deep misunderstanding of Rastafari. Not all Rastafarians believe Haile Selassie to be God himself, but as a great anointed King who serves as a role model in modern times like the role models of Biblical times. I am a Rastafarian, but I have to admit this guy should not be looking for a handout from the government, he should be trying to prove to people that he isn’t the same person he was all those years ago. I dont know the man at all, so I cant say whether he changed or not, but I hope he did.

Firstly, Dominicans have absolutely no right to ridicule the man’s religion. If the man choose to worship Haile Selassie this is his business. Our first constitution guarantees freedom of religion.

Secondly, it is good that the Dominican society abhors the act this man has done against an innocent non armed combatant, Ted Honeychurch. At the same time I ask my people not to allow the evil this man has done allow hatred to swell in their hearts for this man. He is not worth the time of day. Again the people of Dominica has their faulty justice system to blame. Their tax payers money fed this man for 25 years; this man should have been executed and buried in the pages of history. This would have not been an act of hatred but an act of justice; ‘a life for a life.’

The question is to be asked, has Eric Joseph sincerely sought forgiveness for the evil done against an innocent man? If I were in Eric’s place, I would not be arrogantly demanding anything from “Babylon” instead I would either write a letter to the Honeychurch family seeking forgiveness if I am unable to of of guilt and shame to talk to them.

For those who witnessed these events it seems that the negative perception of the rasta man is still ingrined in their psyche. We pray that Eric could man up and apologize to the Honeychurch family, we hope that the gesture of forgiveness can be employed so that both families can continue with their lives.

Another point, it is very sad that the very ones who rallied for his “freedom” have deserted him. Where is the rastafarian “brotherhood?” Where are Peter Alleyne, Henry Shillingford, where are the rastafarian elders to see about their brother? Where is the love of their “African” brother? All this B.S about Africa and black people should unite, yet they left their own “brother” to die so that “Babylon” would pick him up; they have also left him to see misery so who will pick him up now? Babylon or Haile Selassie? We will continue watching God’s willing.

You want to be accepted by society? First find it in your heart to forgive yourself, and accept responsibility for your actions, be sympathetic to the Honeychurch family. Get yourself cleaned up, drop the whole silassie crap, because that’s what got your up ish creek without a paddle in the first place.

After this is done, here’s the perfect job to get you accepted into society. One that will get you to realize society don’t owe you ish, but instead you owe them. Be an advocated against violence to the youth of this country. You’re a perfect person to speak to them about crime and not throwing their lives away. Try this and u will start to see your way back into society.

Bro, your punishment extends beyond your imprisonment, and it’s all because of your actions. Don’t blame society, blame yourself, because your actions got you to this point. Unless you can find it in you to accept the wrongs your did and be truly sorry you will get nowhere. Have you thought of the family of your victims, the hell they went through?

The system didn’t send you to kill, you decided to. Stop trying to garner sympathy while you obviously haven’t felt sorry for your actions. Until then society will no accept you.

When I read the headline about “I can’t cope with society”, I thought he spent 25 years in prison and was disappointed about what he observes in DA. I could understand it because a lot of changes have taken place in DA including the youths who are not the type of youths as it were in those days, if you know what I mean, during those years he spent in prison.
The thought of what I read about a U.S. man a few years ago crossed my mind. The man was imprisoned for a number of years and when he was released, he said he was disappointed in the changes of U.S.A. He committed suicide by jumping from a bridge.
In view of this I felt empathy for this man prior to reading the entire story. Then when I read further I realized he was the one who was imprisoned for murdering Ted Honeychurch. Those who know about it will not cuddle up to him.
He is whining about what is being done to him. Ted Honeychurch did not stand a chance in their presence. How he suffered and when he was murdered, depriving him of his life. He should be reminded of it.
Has he ever said that he was sorry that he and his friends were involved in the murder of Ted Honeychurch?
So he was imprisoned. I do not call this paying a price for murdering someone. Murderers can never make up for taking the life of others or being an accomplice to murder.
I wonder what is the procedure for releasing someone in that category? For one who was almost hanged and who spent 25 years in prison, prior to releasing him was he asked if he is sorry and why should he be released back into DA society?
It is said that he is an intelligent person. Then, someone should advise him to use his intelligence and get a job; learn a trade. However, if he continues to look as he is at present, I doubt that he will receive empathy and help from those who may be able to assist him.
The mark of what was done to Ted Honeychurch will always remain. This is the consequence of what he has done and which he will have to bear for the rest of his life. This is his earthly punishment. Dominicans may not look at him differently. He has not yet made amends with God since he keeps harping about Haile Selassie. He sounds like he is mentally sick.
What he must do is to clean himself up. Shave and cease his nonsense about Haile Selassie and turn to God. He will look better if he does that and as a clean-shaven person. Then will people be encouraged to help him or offer him a job. The manner in which he looks, he should know that people will detest him and to the point of fearing him. Some people do not know what is good for them and he is one of them.

As far as the east is from the west so far has he removed our transgressions and remembers them no more.
The man was incarcerated for 25 years and was forced out of physical bondage into a society that clearly he was not prepared for. Is like a culture shock. He did not receive counseling or if he received any his counsellor closed the process prematurely.
Very soon after this man was released, he was seen frequenting the drug hole in new town. This clearly said that he did not have a positive plan for proper rehabilitation.
He needs freedom from sin which only the blood of Jesus Christ is able to do. Society is not his biggest issue. He needs to regard God as the creator and only true god.
His first step is to acknowledge that he has done wrong and go to the only one who can help him at this stage- Jesus.
Whom the son of man has set free is free indeed. That is where his freedom begins. When God begins to work in his life then society has no choice but to accept him. He then needs to find some way to contribute to society without looking for something in return. E.g. Voluntary service-this is where his blessings come from

After the interview that Eric Zai has given,Dont you all think it would be wise that one of those priests or pastors or social workers should go and counsel him and try to convert him and help to make him a better person. He could become a role model for the “paro” community. If he could be converted to believe in Jesus Christ the priests and pastors I am sure, would be BLESSED……. PASTORS FAIRE TRAVAIL ZORE

Its amazing that there are so many killers who get away after murdering innocent people right here in dominica, and nobody ever says any thing about that. However they are all running their mouths over a man who did his crime and was punished according to the law.

Stop judging the man! If anyone of you have not sin(and still sinning) then send more stones.

Justice is found ONLY in the courts of heaven; The law gave him 25, but he never bothered to find out what was heaven’s sentence for his evil deed. God really is the best at repaying man for his evil ways … all you criminals take note!

There is no doubt that this man speaks from mere ignorance- lack of knowledge both on a physical and spiritual level. I noticed that many who profess to know Christ think that he is forgiven of God while other Christians think that he should burn in hell; however, the guy is still a faithful follower of selassie. To say that he is forgiven of God is far from the truth because Father God only forgives those who willingly ask for forgiveness and repents – it’s not an automatic action on God’s part. The bible says God is gracious and ready to forgive all those who call upon Him. This guy has not called upon Father God for forgiveness and remains in spiritual bondage- until then he can’t be healed. He is more imprisoned than he was in the physical.

Secondly, wishing hell for him from a human perspective seems normal, but Father God’s perspective differs. It is not his will that anyone perishes. While in the physical he is deemed a murderer base on the heinous crime he committed, Father God deems a murderer as one who hates his brother in his heart. While we judge things from a physical/natural standpoint, Father God judges things from a spiritual standpoint and everything that happens in the physical is only a manifestation of what’s going on in the spiritual (inside a man). This can be any of us. So when we stand before God we must make sure there is no hatred in our hearts so that we don’t look like a murderer to Him.

Someone needs to tell this guy the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ; how else can he know if he is not told? The gospel of Jesus is His power unto salvation. God is not partial.

Is this my christian Dominica talking? Who decided to free Barabas but murder Jesus Christ? I am not comparing him to Jesus Christ but it seems like man’s heart will never change. No rehabilitation whatsoever. What a society we live in. How many of u bloggers have spent 25 yrs in prison? Or even a night in a police cell? Our society is a lapse. No hope. Some of u terrible bloggers go to church and call urselves christians but all u just fakers. If we had real christians in our society we would have proper rehab.

If it was one of dem bougoir people child all u would not be singing for him.

Upon de man’s release there should have been a program of counseling to reintroduce de man to society and provide him an honest chance of survival. U cannot spit on de man cal him murderer and rapist after he serve his time and tell him come to church. What happen to de rest of society? If he comes to ur store to buy bread with his money in his hand u won’t honestly serve de man some bread? Christians?

Babylon no longer exists as a place but as an ideology. It’s the mindset of an ancient people who tried their outmost to eradicate Gods chosen people the Israelites. Rasta’s use the term to mean oppressor/downpressor or a people or person against God/righteousness.

  31. Sad
    July 21, 2012

I believe in forgiveness ABSOLUTELY. However, forgiveness does not absolve one from consequences. This man is simply suffering the consequences of his actions. The bible says “what a man sows that he will reap.” True freedom for Mr Joseph will only be a reality when he ADMITS the wrong he has done, CONFESS and ask the Lord’s forgiveness. Only then will he experience freedom. As of now this man is simply tormented. While physicala acts of kindness will help alleviate his situation, they will not bring him peace of mind.

    • July 21, 2012

      @Sad

Not at all, for how can this man have inner, when he will not acknowledge the wrong thing he has, by saying “I am not a murderer” Not only that, he worships another human being like himself, in the now dead Haile Selassie, who needed peace of mind for himself.

Peace comes from our God Eternal, through His Person of Love, who is Jesus Christ. Without His influence in us through conscience–the mind cannot have peace.

I have a problem with this murderer who believes that society owes him some gratitude and honor for killing an innocent man, and paying him for his crime, and for spending twenty-five years in jail.

The trouble is the few years he spent in jail cannot compensate for the life he took!

Here this man is asking ” where is my money ” and talking about government promised him a house!

The people of Dominica fed you in jail for more than twenty-five years, the three thousand dollars you got should not be given to you, they should have kept it all to pay for the people’s food you ate for twenty-five years.

This man attitude is that well; I killed a man in the exercise of my dread power, I wasted my time in jail, upon release the people of Dominica should appreciate and compensate me for my murderous act.

This man soon from now is likely to kill again, I see no remorse in his attitude, he still worships the dead Ethiopian Emperor Haile Salassie as his god.

Notice in the following quot what he said.

” Haile Selassie told me the Infirmary is not for me so I won’t go there. I need to be treated better than that.”

Perhaps he murdered Honeychurch believing he was doing something pleasing to his god Salassie, who’s dogs ate out of golden dishes, while his family owned the Ethiopian Airline: while the people of Ethiopia suffered in poverty.

I doubt Salassie knew Dominica existed, never mind this hooligan, this murderer!

This guy slaughtered a human, he did not care when he was committing the heinous crime of murdered, he treated his victim the same as he would have treated an animal, now he is complaining about the way he is treated?

Why was he reprieved, this is one I believe escaped the hangman noose, and likely to commit the same act again, God is not in his plan, simply apologies such as I am sorry for what I did is not in his vocabulary; rather he is blaming society for not wanting to associate with him.

I suggest everyone he cross path with should ignore him, until he set himself free from the misery he caused the family of the human he murdered by hanging himself on a tree.

Why would government promise a murderer who has not contributed anything to the country, except pain and suffering a house?

    That is beyond my comprehension!

He is out of prison for some time. He should have a strategy of what he wants to do. In fact, while in prison and knowing that he would be released soon, he should have had a plan of what he intended to do when released. It appears he has done nothing to better himself. Did he ever seek employment? He received $3,000 when he left prison. I wonder how well he spent this money. He said that his sister helps him but what is he doing to help himself? If this trend continues, there is a possibility that he might be re-offend.
It is not discriminating to state that the manner in which he looks is enough to turn people off. He looks pitiful but not one to be pitied for my feeling is that he is not sorry for having belonged to such a gang and being involved in murdering Ted Honeychurch.
I hope someone will inform him to clean up himself and show that he is a respectful, changed man and to get on with his life and be a fruitful/useful national.

How about Guadeloupe? This country or rather the government of that country now has a Canadian serial killer who took prison in Canada for murdering three people, one of whom was her young sister residing comfortably there. I even read that she is teaching in Guadeloupe and children (?). Oh my!
As read on this Website, a former Scientology executive wants to live there. Just send him packing to Guadeloupe. The DA government or a relative/friend could pay his passage. I would think that the Guadeloupe government would not mind even though he is poor. There seems to be a haven for murderers, thieves and rejects and they appear to welcome them.
May this not be so in Dominica.

      @ I Man

Since you stated this and you are correct, I have read about Haille Selassie. His first name means, “Hail”. Remember Hitler? There are still too many gullible people, no exception in Trinidad and some educators too, who still revere that man. They are wasting their time.
Granted, we are not to judge but I have a gut feeling that Haille Selassie’s soul is in Hell. Anyway, he is already eternally judged and has met with his eternal destiny. It is not Heaven. While on earth he placed himself on a pedestal, greater and higher than God and rejected Him.
Haille Selassie went to his death and eternal judgment as proud as a peacock. We should have no difficulty in concluding where his soul is in all eternity. That man did nothing for his people while on earth. He had the opportunity to do something for them but he oppressed them and denied them their freedom of right and basic necessities. If he did nothing for them when he was alive, he is incapable of doing absolutely nothing for them in death. He is dead! Dead as a doornail! No doubt, suffering forever and ever for the wrongs he committed against God’s people. He lead them astray from God then and to this day as some foolishly continue to revere him. Where he is he cannot do a thing for them.

I hope he doesn’t refuel his kind of movement in Dominica again. I do not want to use the word Rastafarian because I don’t think that Rastafarianism is about killing and terrorizing people.

As much as you all hate it, he did not let himself out of prison and releasing people who has been incarcerated for such a long time requires proper planning and proper machinery in place to ensure that these people make a smooth transition back into society, this is critical. In the absence of that what we see is repeat offences and it’s always the victim of these crimes that feels it the most.

If we are going to have them out around us we need to ensure that they are safe to be around.

We need trained people to help rehabilitate, reintroduce these people back in society, this for sure is not rocket science, and it’s not just about Zai, the same goes for every prisoner who is being set free.

    • July 21, 2012

      @Aye Dominique

I wouldn’t worry about that. Eric is already a defeated man–the mere fact that he says he feels trapped. Who will follow a person who admits that he is trapped in his mind, for that is the spiritual imprisonment which he is experiencing right now–he got caught in his own trap, when he brutally killed an innocent man.

And he will continue to suffer that imprisonment as long as he holds on to Haile Selassie–who is his god I would hope that our Dominican young people are not that foolish, to consider teaming up with this man, for they will simply enter the spiritual prison cell that he is now suffering from.

  51. July 20, 2012

Eric Joseph says: –I feel trapped–Well I hope that someone will give him that message for me.

Eric Joseph you are caught in the trap which you set for yourself along with your counterparts more than 25 years ago.

I am from Giraudel, and I knew Mr Ted Honeychurch very, very, well because most of the money my father made to put bread on the table for us, his wife and children, came the payments of his work for Nr. Ted Honeychurch, may he be at peace in his grave–that man treated my father very, very well. Even my sister was employed with him, when I left Dominica–she too had children to feed.

When you pulled that trigger pointed the on body of Ted Honeychurch, you did a very wicked and selfish thing, by the demon of your mind, I am glad to know that you are now feeling the pain of being trapped in your own prison–the tourments of your mind plagued with the poisons of Satan.

How can you expect to feel at peace after what you did to an innocent man, you still have not asked God for His mercy and compassion of Love–you are taking about where Haile Selassie, wants you to be or not to be. Again I am glad he has in a trap where there is no peace and freedom.

And so you will continue throughout your existence in this world, for not only that you feel trapped, you have chosen another human being like yourself who could not free himself much more for you.

Yes, Halie Selassie was just another man like yourself, he needed freedom just like you do–but that blessing of freedom comes only from the Man who manifested Himself, His attitude and conducts with the Mind of Love, which is of God Almighty–His name is Jesus Christ.

So continue in your state of imprisonment as the disciple of Halie Selassie. But if you want freedom you must make the==U Turn== by your faith in Jesus Christ, for He is the only One who said: ==If you believe in My Word, you are My disciples indeed, and you will know ==the Truth==and that== Truth==will make you free.

As it is spoken so shall it be done!

Look at the toll this man’s belief in Rastafari has taken on him. Just look at how happy he looks in the old picture and his current state. How many have gone astray claiming to be Rastafarian?
Listen, I am in no way trying to condemn any religion or belief, but we have to use wisdom. Any belief that puts my physical well being, mental soundness and ability to remain free in jeopardy is not worth the risk. Selassie told you to serve the most high and not him. Take heed.

I am shaking your hand in Spirit; Mr Ted Honeychurch did not deserve that fatal outcome and may those who are responsible rut in hell–if that be Gods Will.

What exactly does that Eric Joseph want from society==that people feed him on a silver platter–but how bold of him!

I am sure that God kept him in existence from physical death, that he might go through the trial and test of spiritual training and discipline==instead of considering that for himself, to receive healing he needs, he now denying that he is a murderer, but he is talking about what Haile Selassie wants him to do, and where he wants him to be–for some reason Eric Joseph is not one of those people whom I want to call to God on his behalf at all.

I look at the picture of this gentleman upon his release and then at the most recent picture. Buju said “Only Rasta can liberate the people,” but I beg to differ. This man has once again become disillusioned and abandoned by his so called “faith” in Rastafari. Take it from me, a reformed Rasta myself. The emperor Selassie was nothing more than a man who exploited his own people. Zai what you need to do is a clean break from the past. The same way the Rasta brethren left you for dead at that bottom of the cliff, is the same way that they are unconcerned with your well being now. I am 100% certain that the Government is not the Haile Selassie you are refering to.

Like they say Karma is a b…h. You spent the better part of your younger life terrorising people to today the tables have turned on you. As a child living in the countryside, before it was 6, all doors were shut and everyone inside. If we saw someone with dreads we would run and start screaming if we were by ourselves. We never ventured out alone, we had to ensure we were in groups.

They really terrorized Dominicans and kept them in fear then, spurred on by Satan’s influence and his whims and wiles. He should be begging Dominicans for pardon for what he and his gang put them through. He does not seem to be remorseful as he claims to be a changed man.

DNO, I have to say kudos to you guys for always keeping us informed. This is a very interesting story and for the first time i am commenting on a piece. Apart from the fact that the story was well put together, it is very unique. I am an old person and i remembered these days in Dominica. The police did their fair share of killings and the dreads revolted. Its a pitty is Eric Joseph who took the blunt for all the sins of his fellowmen. HE DID THE TIME…and after spending so much time in jail, it would always be hard for him to be accepted into society. He needs psyciatric help. It has taken a toll on his life and he needs help. Else this man will die a miserable death.

Look at his face. It does not look inviting. It is enough to make people run away from him. Speaking of Selassie will make people disdain him for Selassie was not God and never will. He deceived them and they fell for his evil tricks and words. When people live wicked lives, as they grow older they take on the face that they deserve. You help him.
Do not blame the Police. They had Hell on their hands during that time and if it meant killing the lawless, who did not fear anyone, in order to protect Dominicans, they were within their right as law enforcement police officers. Some of you do not see it that way because you were lawless people and continue to be.

    Fellow Dominicans

You don’t have to pity or feel sorry for ZAI. As the facts stand while I like many from that era belive him to be innocent of the actual murder of Honeychurch, we feel strongly that he was there, saw it all and so he had to do the time for his clans men.

However, having spoken in great detail to a former then inspector of police, it is incumbent on us to understand those dark days of Dominica and not hate because we were TOLD he committed a murder of a prominent person? He was hurt and left for dead, in order to get medical attention he was forced to sign a confession.

Did any of you ever ask how many young men were slaughtered by the police all for the sake of their hair style and being rootsie? Groovy Bat now have dreads, nobody more rasta than him, yet he was a leader in hunting and shooting down rasta. Dominicas’ history is being told from only one side. Yes he was there, so since he was left behind he had to pay for the sins of his crew and for that I say his imprisonment was all fair. Those were dark days in Dominica however it came from both sides. Today everybody want to have dreads they have forgotten what they did to our young men.

Was he asked if he was remorseful for his actions, be it being involved in a gang who planned to murder white people and were successful in abducting and murdering Ted Honeychurch? What they did was an atrocious crime. They had no respect for humanity. Why did they pick on Ted Honeychurch, such a nice man who did them no wrong? Prior tomurdering him, consider how he felt when they took him and brought him into the push. Reflect on this.
His blood still cries to Heaven for Vengeance. Think that he had a son, Lennox who was still young when this occurred. Consider the grief and pain of his wife and other members of his family and what they went through also after he was found dead.
I am not a family member but I knew them and to this day when I think of it I feel saddened that one would think I am a family member.
We need to forgive but this man must do something with his life. On the other hand, it is understandable if people do not care for him, putting it mildly. I would not shake hands with such a man, even though I feel sorry for the state that he is in.

It was chaotic, and I still don’t understand why Mr.Honychurch was killed, the real reason if there’s one?? We were kids trying to get an education, some of us were skipping in the school yard, and I clearly do no understand why we had to be hiding under our little wooden desks. So sorry you are going through this now, but we had to endure the fear that you and you rastafarian brothers brought to our community for months after the incident. My uncles and cousins are also ratafarians and I love them dearly, I would remember sitting in the yard listening to them read scriptures from the bibles and smoking their weed, and I learned alot from them.So don’t expect your actions to completely be forgotten, or expect people to build you a home,or financially support you.The young men growing up should use you as an example. This man needs psychiatric help.

  121. July 20, 2012

We as a people must allow the Courts and God to deal with people. When we take matters in our own hand we never know the impact that this may have on our nation and our children. Even some Christians who suppose to know the difference has failed in this respect. They dont realize that their life is under scrunity, and the that the world know the difference between good and evil behavior, and they are judged for their indiscretions.

hmmm… Life has a way of biting u back eh. The evil men do, lives with them.
You even have guts say u want a permanent residence! Garcon go and get work for you to do eh. You think is so the country running then! Killing people and when you’re free you want life sweet! You say you are a changed man but you have to live with the consequences of your actions. Welcome to the struggle!

Mr.Joseph, I am one who believe in second chances but I also believe the evil an man do will live with him. You’re treated like that not because people don’t like you, it’s because of what you did, and although I would wish it is different for you but”sa ou fere se sa ou wer”.

Wonder where is the “house of nayerbingay(excuse my spelling)”- thought they had a plan to help re-integrate this man into society. All these years they’ve been calling for the release of the man. Mr. Shaw, you were leading this call, where have you gone wrong?

All that is part of the price you pay for what you did. It doesnt end that easy, even those who get away without going to jail will face a harsh penalty. Karma is a bitch!

This man is asking, society to have mercy on him, when his life was spared I’m really confused by what i have read, he says that he is not a murderer So who is the murderer? Mr Ted HonyChurch this man has no remorse he should be on his knees thanking GOD, every day he should just go in exile, some people never change.

but society had mercy on him by not revolting when government agreed to set him free. he must ask his rasta friends and lawyers to assist him.

  128. Dont Take Life!
    July 20, 2012

Zie, if u ask the Lord to forgive and confess within your heart that you are sorry for taking the innocent man life, and also REPENT you will be set free before the Lord. But that is what happens when one take life they did not give. Vengence is mines says the Lord. Just read your bible and see what David went through for what he did, though he was very close to God, God did not let him get away with it, so your torment will continue to leave with u, you and your concience must be at war with each other daily, i do feel for u, but that is how it is when we choose to do the wrong thing. I am sure the family of Ted is still hurting after all those years, and so will u, keep praying my broder

Whatever happened to all dem rasta dem that was crying for your release?? But then again, I guess you are just a tormented soul for the evil you have done. The victim’s family has never found closure so why should you??

And dont forget that he burned down the family home at Giraudel as well and destryed all the family’s personal possessions.

I am always amazed that Ted’s son Lennox Honeychurch picked himself up from this tradgedy and continued to contribute to Dominica.

lennox believes in GOD and not in selasie.only zai and GOD can free zai, but he must first believe in GOD and forgive himself then ask GOD to forgive him not selasie.

    July 20, 2012

“Zai” I pray in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ who loves you and gave His life for you that you submit to His Lordship and give your life to Him. Selassie is not God. He was a man like any other. You will go to Ethiopia and find His tomb there.
Only Jesus Christ claimed to be God. He died, was buried and is risen. The tomb could not hold Him. He conquered death. The only person who can make that claim. HE IS RISEN! HE IS LORD!Because of His triumph over death. He now has to power to save you. Accept what only He could do for you. Selassie is dead, remains and will continue to remain dead.
The lying familiar spirits talking to you is not Selassie. He is dead but Jesus Christ is risen and now sits at the right hand of the Father until ALL His enemies are made His footstool. And this is very close. So Zai turn to the only God who can save you. THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN SO MERCIFUL TO YOU.
Someone please give Zai that message! It is not limited to only Zai but is for all of us! Have a blessed day!

Dude, I feel understand your situation however, in Dominica; you are never ever forgiven of your past. It does not matter now. Dominicans profess to be Christians and they don’t forgive ANYONE. I don’t condone this guy’s actions and by no means am I saying what he did was right. He has payed his dues and we should let things go before we destroy ourselves. Same goes with PJ, even now after serving his time and paying his dues, he is still shunned by most. Lighten up and maybe we can become a better society. BE THE CHRISTIANS THAT YOU PROFESS TO BE IN ACTIONS, NOT WHEN IT’S CONVENIENT FOR YOU!!! Anyway, good luck to this

Maybe de man should disappear back into the bush. Mother, daughter and state (our tax money) taking care of his sorry ass. Step up mister and take care of yourself. Stop crying and do some work. And…there is no such thing as an ex-con or an ex-murderer. Once you have murdered, you are forever a murderer. Once convicted, you are forever a Con.

Is he for real. He wants a house from Government???? All of us law abiding citizens have to gwayay to build house, all the salary going into mortgage and he want house for free after already being fed by taxpayers for how many years? Come better than that padna. Someone can help you but not that way.

I find this man quite impossible. Firstly, he took someone’s life which deserved the punishment of the day”death by hanging” instead was given a prison term. Secondly he was released on compassion and still thinks that society owes him something. I say let him reap what he planted. He should have gone to live in the bush somewhere and never return among people, good treat him like an outcast.

This man has more balls than an elephant!! On top of all that he did he thinks “THE GOVERNMENT”, a.k.a the taxpayers owe him something!! His regrets does not come close to easing the suffering and pain he has caused the Honeychurch family. These People terrorized Dominicans in the 80’s. He was a burden to the tax payers of this country for 25 YEARS! No he is asking for compensation!!
He should have been in China; they would have executed him for his crime a looooong time ago and sold his vital organs too!!

i don’t know what to really say…. but as another person… i don’t think it is right to threaten or try to kill the man… for u may say it’s karma.. but what about those who are ‘doing the karma’… they’ll have there’s also… so it puts them in the same box as mr joseph… as young people we should take example… do good in life so in your latter years.. you’ll have good deeds done to you
