Disco queen Donna Summer, whose pulsing anthems such as Last Dance, Love to Love You Baby and Bad Girl became the soundtrack for a glittery age of sex, drugs, dance and flashy clothes, has died. She was 63.
Her family released a statement, saying Summer died Thursday morning and that they “are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.”
“Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time,” the statement read. She had been living in Englewood, Fla., with her husband, Bruce Sudano.
I can not believe that Donna Summer’s has died she is going to be so missed an extremely great natural talent
Hollywood often depicts the gates of heaven as the place where you “plead your case”for the right to enter.Jesus clearly explains that the only ones who will enter heaven are those who have accepted him as the way, the truth and the life -not those who have the best argument or who have performed the most good deeds.Heaven is not a court but a prepared place for prepared people. Those who believe in Jesus Christ can rest assured that their reservation for heaven has been made. And when it comes to accommodations we need not worry for Jesus himself has promised to prepare a place for us.r.i p. disco queen.
My condolence going out to meow down in St.Joseph stay strong my boy. The lord never give us what we cannot handle.
I grew up in the 80s….great music.!!! Cant hear this kind of wonderful music again. So happy that these are the kinds of music that I have in my memory. Real soothing!!! She works hard for her money, was a hit it those days!!!
Another one, gone too soon.
DNO Admin, should that be “pulsing anthems” or PULSATING anthems…?
“She works hard for her money! So hard for it honey! she works hard for her money so you better treat her right!” Miss ya Donna. Go in peace.
I REMEMBERED SHE ACTED AS AUNT UNNA IN FAMILY MATTERS
Gosh, I feel so young!!! I really have no idea who this singer is!!
If you grew up in the early 80’s, you would have enjoyed her songs. As a young 13 yr old boy, I had my own “she works hard for the money” 33″ vinyl record which I played on my mother’s record player nearly everyday. Those days were good days.
Her music will forever be a tribute to a bygone part of my past. She WAS Disco and knew how to belt out a tune. The clubs were packed when her music played. A generation will miss you Ms. Summer and rest with the angels…
This is so sad. She was a great singer and equally great person. She gave us so many great memories. She will be missed. May she rest in peace in the hands of God.
..”Spring was never waiting for us till
it ran one step ahead
as we followed in the dance”
Loved Donna Summer!
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
We fail to recognize as human beings that our stay on earth is a transitional one. When we die only our beliefs and good deeds go with us.
Beliefs and good deeds to what and to whom? Some people say there is no god, when we die our bodies simply rot in the earth. If this is the case then people who molest children for example then kill themselves then there is no accountability. Second, since Allah exists the reality is we all are going to be judged by Him. Question: It is worth it to be striving so hard to pile up wealth when in reality we have to die and leave everything, even spouse and children? Not even the clothes on your back you will feel people putting on you when you die!
I was sadden to hear of her death and I will miss her voice she brought us the most powerful album in the 70’s ” A LOVE TRILOGY ‘ any one who have that album should play it I quote ” WE CAN MAKE IT IF WE TRY ” and that’s what she is saying to us by those words I loved her and her music and will keep playing them, as I am posting my comments I am listening to her music those were good years for the industry she is gone but not forgotten. To her daughters and other members of her family and friends I send my condolences.
Rest in peace Donna!!
She worked hard for her money…
Her hits, “Dim all the lights” of the seventies and “Give me your unconditional love” of the very early eighties heralded the great era of disco music still embedded in my mind. Now that Donna is gone, will someone ” GIVE ME YOUR UNCONDITIONAL lOVE?”
Hell No.
