QUEBEC, CANADA (CNN) – She’s lived through two World Wars and a devastating earthquake that destroyed her home in her native country of Haiti.

At 115 years old, Cicilia Laurent has seen it all.

Born in 1896, Laurent recently celebrated her 115th birthday, making her likely the oldest woman in the world.

Laurent moved to Canada to live with her grandson after last year’s earthquake.

She has three grandsons and a great-grandson who lost their homes in Haiti. She hopes they can eventually join her in Canada.

And what’s the secret to her long life?

“I think it’s her relationship with God. She’s praying a lot every day,” said Marie Lorna Pierre, her grandson’s wife. “She’s always, always laughing. She’s never mad.”

She was born in simplicity in Haiti, without all the adulterated food. That is why she is living so long. The bigest factor is the development years through about 16. If the food was good and basic, then you have the longivity. She is lucky in that she still has her mind also.
The generation starting with the 1920’s will have a shorter life span and thereafter each generation will have shorter life spans due to the food and pollution as well as stress.
